4.
After dangling a carrot in front of David at SGD he has actually shipped a package to me! So who knows I might get my pickups after all. Just had to apply the right pressure and incentive.
I hope you're going to firmly insert that carrot somewhere once they've arrived
 5. I've got it and... it's now the nicest playing bass I own! Including the ACG! Here's some pics! I completely forgot to take pics of the back but that's all painted black too Jon actually went further with the decal than expected and instead of putting a white decal on, somehow he just didn't paint the area where my nans name is and it's the wood underneath showing through
 6. I'm currently playing one of these in a folk band... And get away with it fine. BUT once my p bass is back from Shukers I'll be using that
 7. Your gf has been kidnapped and you were on a date with a BC'er in disguise
 8. Yeah, is this the same as a guy buying flowers at a petrol station?
 9. Expect a good bass I've never found them too chunky, it probably won't be very light but the tone will more than make up for that. They're usually incredibly responsive too
 10.
Thanks Paul I really like the sound of it, it's got a pretty fast attack which makes it sound punchy I think, must be the pickup placement and the fact its a HB, noticeably different to the slight spongyness of my Jazz neck SC. Probably the strings too. It's a lovely combination.
Nige, the tracks REALLY good too! It really reminds me of the assassins creed soundtrack which I picked up in a special edition boxset. If you good Jasper Kyd : Assassins Creed you should get some good results. The two sound nothing alike but I think the interwoven rhythms are what I'm being reminded of. Infact here's a track for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcsWMSCBZRM
 11.
The thing is that IME few covers bands have even a fraction of the charisma that made the original writers and performers of the songs so special. Live music IMO is so much more than just being live and loud. From what I've seen of the covers bands I've played with or been the audience to see, the vast majority of the audience would be equally well served if not better off with a DJ with the right choice of discs or a well-stocked video juke box. I know as a punter I'd prefer that. The band in the OP have the technical chops to play all those different styles of songs and the sound alone is most likely far superior to what a lot of the older bands they are covering ever managed back in the day. But just look at them! They are little better than a bunch of vaguely trendy accountants who've found themselves on stage with some instruments. Stick the videos side by side with live footage of the bands they are covering from their heyday and there's simply no competition. For performance the original wins effortlessly every time. And for me the performance is what live music is all about.
I agree they're very unlikely to be as good (or better) than the originals but if they're good then they could still be worth seeing. It's about enjoyment, not if it's as good as it was by the original surely?
 12. I've got a 1600w amp if you want it mate It's not light mind you
 13.
Contours are for wimps...
I'd love to see a GUS bass like yours without any contours. It actually could look awesome if the was no rounding on the metal
 14. I'm a little torn on this one, I like it but I don't think I'd want to gig it
 15.
And they would be your first choice of builders for that much each?
Yeah, most playable and best sounding basses I've ever played were either Shukers or Dingwalls, the nicest finished basses I've ever seen have been Ritters.
 16.
I doubt that any of those 3 would entertain doing something like that!
Not even for £10,000,000 each?
 17.
A Carlmanwickazzenbacker?
18. How about something built by Jon Shuker and Sheldon Dingwall and then finished by Ritter. *Drooooooools
 19. Another excellent track Nige, unfortunately I can't make tuesday but I hope the gig goes well
 20.
Looking back I think I can only thank my partner Karen for the fact I'm alive now - I don't think I'd have got through it, and arrived at the place I am now without her.
Please thank Karen from us (or atleast me) for looking after you
