Ok, my set up.... A PJB M300 amp (450 watts at 4ohms), 2 x PJB 4B cabs.... Plugged into the amp is my Boss GT10B, I have a splitter pedal attached to the boss which my Ibanez SR300 fretless and Ibanez SR1000 feed in to.
My issue... If I leave the limiter switched on the amp the volume is tiny, and if I turn up the volume just a bit it gives out a hideous croaky noise. If I leave the limiter off, the gain on the active input it still set quite low or the overload flashes, however, the main volume can go to a decent level and throws out some good bass sounds.
For gigs, I can go through the PA if I need to, but our PA is quite old and I'd rather rely on my own gear.
Will I be damaging my amp if I permanently keep the limiter off? The volume is pants if it's on. Also, as long as I keep the overload light from flashing, am I going to be OK.
I really thought when I bought the PJB gear that I was buying a kit to last me for life, now I'm wondering is it really the best thing for me.
Any advice gratefully received.

Is there a mix or volume setting on the limiter? Might be worth looking into your settings
