I mean, who honestly has 10 or more old Trace amps, one a week or so, and sells them on here. They were bought for profit purposes only, (I use this as an example).
In fairness can you imagine if Sibob decided to sell his OC2's

If you're keeping it to such a short timespan the one thing you might want to do before you start is decide what you want to cover for each catagory. Bass - Weight, Tone, Versatility, Build Quality Amp - Weight, Tone, Volume, Versatility, Build Quality, Features Pedal - Size, Features etc... By doing this and putting a timespan against each people should be able to skip to the bit they want to see. For example, I know that you always cover a basses tone at 30 seconds. So I load up a review of a P bass and a review of a p bass. I skip both to 30 seconds and A/B them. Also try to use as many common denominators as possible : for example if it's a bass, same amp / settings / strings / brand of strings (if possible) Given the shortness of the reviews taking these steps would add a lot of value to your reviews without increasing the time. -

Timer starts "I'm milty today reviewing xxxxxxx by yyyyy" Plugs bass in "Yep the bass amp goes "boom" it sounds good/bad" Unplugs bass "I like it/don't like it" "Thanks for watching" Timer Ends -
Where to look for my (first) second-hand drum kit?
charic replied to Jellyfish's topic in Other Instruments
I think a drummer mate of mine may be selling one of his. He really looks after his stuff. I'll check -
That's up to the individual. I've just move from too vertically stacked 2x10s to a monster of a 6x10 and I couldn't be happier... (mainly because an 8x10 probably wouldn't fit in my car and I almost definitely wouldn't be able to get it upstairs ) When it comes to sound there is no "better" unless you're talking about measurable facts and even they can be overridden by preference

I played my first gig 4 weeks after I picked up the bass 45 minute set. I only got asked as the usual bassist wasn't able to make the gig. One of the best gigs of my life. Mind you at the time I was playing bass at least 5 hours a day
OK - so I wrote a description of a bass I would like to sell yesterday, added photos etc and clicked the post button fully prepared to be directed to the paypal site to pay my £20. I was indeed directed there but the system had put in a fixed amount of £40 that I could not edit. When I went back to the basschat site it listed the costings as free (up to £50), £7 if selling one item over £50 and £20 for unlimited selling. Then I noticed the £20 actually stated £20+. So, the £20+ in my case was £40. That's a hell of a +. Am I missing something?
That sounds like a bug, I'll make sure it's looked into

What a cool headstone
+1 Great post. What's worse than a band who have no presence at all is a band who are obviously trying way too hard. Not cool!
I dunno, apparently my "coolest" stage moment was one of the most demanding times of any gig of my life... admittedly the rear of my strap had come undone so it wasn't on purpose but apparently going onto one knee with the bass upright on the other (from standing) without missing a beat was pretty cool from the audiences view. (I didn't realise this at the time and felt like a right prat)
Actually, this is a serious question my band needs to find an answer to at the moment. The problem is that we can bash out the songs perfectly well, but our singer and guitarist seem to be lacking in that hard-to-define quality which we call stage presence. This is a problem for a lot of bands, but it certainly needs addressing when the rhythm section seems to present more character than the "front" of the band. And I'm very much in the John Entwistle school of standing still and letting the fingers do the talking. Thing is, if either of them comes out of their shell a bit more then the other will follow - it's just getting them into character which seems to be the problem. Which is ironic, because they both trained as actors...
I find any kind of "uniform" helps me both times I've been part of the band in terms of dressing up in some way I've come out of my shell majorly. Other times, not so much
-
I'll be watching this eagerly, funnily enough at a recent "battle of the bands" type thing we were marked down for not having much of a stage presence but we're playing light indie/folk/acoustic stuff and there was no room to move on stage which made it all a little bit difficult At the last cerberus cell (death metal) gig we had a great time of it, I was getting in the punters faces, shouting at them (they were shouting back) and ended up with most of the crowd on the stage with us at the end

I'll get the next thread set up asap

I'm looking at going rackmount for my effects but it turns out theres not much around. Looking at the tc electronic g major 2 for all my ambient type needs but what is there for drives etc? Am I better off shelving my pedals and just getting a switcher?

They're bloody tough cabs. Although they don't hold up well to TC electronic powered chainsaws http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frm_sn3G0As

IMHO If you want it to be ultra clean at a markbass cab If you want clean but a bit more grunt/oomph maybe Bergantino If you want clean and to work really well with effects probably Barefaced All entirely subjective but there's my opinion

Time for a little ‘variation’...(maybe Spector?!)
charic replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
To be honest, as much as I like Shuker and ACG, I don't want to try the custom route. I am not sure why!
That's fair enough, although I would trust either to always do what's "right" for the bass and with your eye for detail these are the guys which will get as close to perfect as possible. You could check out their "stock" pages? I've only played one or two spectors and both from the budget end of the range so I can't really contribute on that level but I would say if you were considering them then chuck Warwick into the mix as well, quality control is very good from what I've seen -

Have you considered Overwater / Shuker / Sei / ACG? Or are we avoiding custom options?
