I get cramp from thinner necked basses personally.
Nor am I Why are you forming a cover band?
Because I've had an idea and I think it would be good fun. There is the potential to do original music later but by forming as a cover band and sorting 3 hours of material it is easier to spot the time wasters

I'm in a couple of original bands and am just forming a covers band so I'm not sure where that sits me
Ah I see! Ha ha, well sounds like fun and I wish I was good enough to have a bash, I love like 90% of the bands you've put there! Good luck! Alex
What makes you think you wouldn't be? If you'd be ok for the travel drop me a line for more info

Interesting that this appeared just after I put an ad up for some guitarists for my now forming cover band. For me... it's a way of getting off of the ground quick and sorting out the timewasters earlier If we can get 2 / 3 hours of material sorted then we'll be able to decide after if we want to start doing originals or carry on with the covers thing. For me, the enjoyment comes from gigging. Something that I never get enough of
Certainly be interesting to see how people react to Trivium down the Frog and Twat! Should say though, that if your vocalist is good enough to cover all those types of bands he could be making a fortune on the pro circuit. I went to see Rock of Ages Theatre Show and the singer wasn't amazing but pulled off the Bon Jovi style well and earnt a tonne of cash for a 12 show tour. Maybe tone down the metal, utilise your singer and put together an act that'll make you some money? Truckstop
Points taken on board but we're being very careful about song choices

Whether you're a guitarist yourself or know someone who may be interested please drop me a line I'm currently looking to form a heavy rock / metal band. Initially looking at getting together a 2 - 3 hour set list so we can get out and gigging as soon as possible. Possibility of working on original material after this point. We are just forming and have a singer, bassist and drummer so just need the two guitarists to finish the line up (rhythm and lead). Our current ideas for a setlist include Alter Bridge Papa Roach Foo Fighters Billy Talent Black Stone Cherry Trivium Volbeat Shinedown Incubus Coheed and Cambria Basically good heavy rock tunes that will still sit well with the general public (so we can gig pubs as well as clubs) I have a full recording set up and a good level PA is currently in construction.
Finding a motherboard that will take 32GB RAM with the current RAM chips available is going to be tricky.....why would you need 32GB RAM? I only have 8GB and even with multiple instances of Kontakt running some quite complex libraries I hardly ever exceed 6.5GB in use.
My laptop has 32GB of RAM in it so I would have thought most desktops could support it now.
Excuses, excuses... Seriously though, good luck with the gig mate. I'm sure you'll do yourself proud.
Excuses indeed! Also forming a new band with a setlist like I've always wanted to do. I won't reveal it here but if you're interested then drop me a PM

I tend to look toward Novatech for my stuff
-
I'm prepping for a gig on Friday only had two practices with the band so far so could be a nail biter!

If I think about it briefly then sure, otherwise it's instinct
Not bass but just caring about every little bloody detail, I have a nice bass, if I can't make it sound good that's my problem, not the action, pick ups, wood, neck radius, whether it it has an over priced piece of foam under the amp. It's all down to me and if I'm enjoying playing then I couldn't give a crap about all that stuff. If you sound crap then it's probably your fault and TBH I'm enjoying too much too care.
Welcome back, little ray of sunshine today aren't you
Most words have different meaning to most people. I hate potatoes but that doesn't mean I want to dig them all up and burn them.
Please dig them up and burn them! Then we can all have jacket potatoes
Milton, you totally miss my point...... I took exception to the abrasive manner with which you dismissed White Cloud - i don't agree with the analogy myself either, but then I'd be polite enough to discuss my different opinion without calling anyone's opinion useless.... It seems I'm flogging a dead horse trying to get you to show a bit of consideration to others - obviously you don't get out much.
Can we calm this down please, this is all getting far too personal. From what I can tell Milty expressed that he hated people using what is essentially a useless analogy (sorry but I can't see how it fits either) but agreed with the general sentiment of the post. Maybe it was missing some kind of smiley but that's hardly a crime
That's going to be a peach matey , albeit a purple one. Looking forward to seeing this develop!
So it's going to be a plum? From the choice of woods and the mixed yellowy and purple maybe it will be an under-ripe damson?
Never understood this. However, every Mexican Fender (and pretty much every Squier) I've laid hands on has been at least acceptable. As described above, it should never have reached a shop wall. All the MIM Fenders, or parts of them, that I have had, have been entirely to standard.
Up to standard, yes they're almost all fine. I love mine but... there is still an entire world of difference between my ACG and my MIM P bass. Not just in sound but in playability. I would expect a Ritter bass to be at least as good as my ACG but with the "prestige" of being a Ritter. To be honest I think a lot of what you are paying for with a Ritter is the looks of them, the man as an absolute master of finishing and I don't think anyone could really dispute that!

My bet as to why your return key isnt working would be that youre probably using the ie app built in to windows 8?
-
I'll have a think. In the meantime have a chat with the folks at digital village is recommended. Really you just want to focus on the feel of the keys above all else.
-
Yes... but it is a lot more than a SIMPLE midi keyboard I've had mine ages and I still haven't figured out tonnes of it
-
What sort of budget are you looking at? Generally what type of parts do you find yourself playing? (I find doing complex string chordings a git when using a weighted keyboard for example )
