1. I did get a response from Guy - same thing, it's out of warranty so we can sell you one, but you're not going to get a replacement. Never mind that it's had minimal use and was running at half power with half the headroom available.
2. I actually have a set of these Stevie, although I've only used them for rehearsals, they seemed alright. I might try them at a gig, but I suppose I was always a bit mistrustful of Behringer gear for pro applications.
3. I've been looking at AKG D5s as well, which seem to be getting VERY good reviews in the main, especially at the price point
Take a look at the JTS NX8. They get very good reviews. We use the cheaper version (JTS929) in our band and those work a treat.
I think I've used one of these before actually, never had any problems with it either.
4.
Look into the EV 767a. Far superior to the equivalent SM58. D.
We were using Betas D, except for one which was temporarily replaced by an SM after one of the Betas met a sudden, floor-contact related death. I'll take a look at the other suggestions. There is a good deal on Rode mics at the minute, if you buy one from DV247, you can fill out a form and get a second for 50p direct from Rode. Their dynamic cardioid mics are around the same price point as an SM58
5. Could be a goer - MK is not too far from me. Let me have a look into it and I'll get back to you via PM.
6. The Audix might be an option at 60 quid each, I've tried singing into 57s before and just blow a lot of air into them, although I suppose you can get around that by putting a windshield over them. The other option is Rode M1s which I've seen a good deal on and could currently pick up 4 for £160. Anybody tried a Rode dynamic mic?
7. Our band had (past tense) a set of mics which comprised 3 or 4 Beta 58 As, 1 SM58 and 2 SM57s. It appears that some light fingered gobsh*te has walked off with them from somewhere said gobsh*te wasn't supposed to be and they are nowhere to be seen. Before I catch the fecker that did it and tan his arse, I need to get some more mics, however I notice that a Beta 58 A is approacing £150 - I managed to get a black one from e-av for about half that when they were on promotion, but they're now up to £149 each and I can't shell out £450 on 3 mics. Can you recommend an equivalent to a Beta 58 A, but a bit cheaper?
8. I play in a 5 piece covers band - bass, drums, 2 guitars and vocals. What I would like to be able to do is add brass and keys to the songs that need them and I would like to explore the possibilty of a drummer playing to a click and having the brass and keys play at the relevant places. Does anybody know where I might obtain such a set of tracks or is it the sort of thing I would have to have a keyboard player make for me?
9. Does it come with a cover? I know it doesn't say in the post, but just thought I'd ask.
10. Check your junk folder - never know, it might have ended up there
11. I don't get ANY kind of sound from the speaker Stevie. It's dead I think
12. Sent Ashdown an email, still waiting for a response, so in the meantime I still have this bass available for a swap for a replacement speaker.
13. Peter email E at E-fects.co.uk He should be able to help
14. That's a good shout on the baby blues, I will get my mrs a pair as she's not keen on the size of the ER-20s
15.
You really did close the other thread As I said there, I'm more than happy with custom cables at a good price from Dave. Amp/Cab cables as thick as your arm, well nearly http://www.bassic.co.uk/

for cables OBBM
+1 or 3 or whatever this post takes us up to!
16. Well one of the reasons for specifically using a laptop is that iTunes, for example, allows crossfading between two tracks, which is something you can't do with a laptop. Secondly, when we want to start adding the backing tracks for brass and/or keys, I would have thought that a laptop would have been the easier solution?
17. The Spectrums aren't as good as the Thunder series (which are very good indeed). It's worth watching ebay as you'll get a much better Thunder for less that the price of that Spectrum
18. I sorted out PLI out yesterday afternoon. I'd spoken with the MU and also with people like Musicguard and, as has been covered in this thread, I was finding it more and more difficult to cover a band rather than an individual which is the case with the MU and the musicguard policies. I found a company, the name of which I am happy to provide by PM, that covered my band, regardless of who is playing in it at the time (so dep friendly) up to £5M for £180 a year, which I thought was reasonable.
19. We have a laptop with a big itunes playlist on and the next step is to look into adding brass or keys into, i suppose, a backing track so the drummer can play along with a click and we can have the full band experience - what would be the best thing to get a line level out of the laptop and into the desk? Obviously we can send the signal from the headphone out, but is it better to use a USB interface with a line out? Any recommendations?
20. The 335 is gone and I am definitely keeping the Standard, but I am out of a hole for now! The Custom is still available, mainly because there are other things I would like, but I'm not too fussed if I don't get them and I would be prepared to sell it for the right money. I think (misguided or otherwise) that it could be worth anything up to £1800. It's from 1987, is in excellent condition except for a tiny bit of fret wear and some slightly tarnished hardware and comes in a 'Lifton' style Gibson Historic case. Post-Norlin, so it's got a one piece body instead of a pancake body and has a one piece mahogany neck and not 3 pieces of maple. The top is made up of 3 pieces of maple, whicih I've seen on a few Les Pauls and not sure why they do it. I would like to see £1600 but would take a USA Precision and £1100. If anybody wants any pics, please PM
21. Hello folks, know this is the bassists wanted section, but some of you lads are multi talented (joking!). A good guy I know has called me just to offer me a gig on Saturday night, but I am already playing - it's a good gig in the West Midlands/Worcestershire and it's all pop and rock covers from the last 20-30 years to more modern - stuff like the Mavericks, Mustang Sally, I'm A Believer, that kind of thing - stuff people want to dance to. Anyway - a fairly high standard will be required (and I feel privileged that I was asked) - if you would like more info, then please drop me a line. And apologies for posting in the section, but I would like to help out.
22. Well not to stray to far OT, I rang them up and basically said, look chaps, this cab has hardly been used - OK, I've had it for 3 years but it's had less than 100 hours of being used at a much lower power than is rated. Without asking them outright if they would give me a new speaker because I feel it failed under conditions where it wasn't pushed and shouldn't, IMO, have failed if there was nothing wrong with it, I asked them what my replacement options were. I got a vague response that the speakers were out of stock and weren't going to be coming in for a while and that was it. Bit annoyed to be honest - I suppose they're not obliged to help me out, but I was surprised at the lack of interest. Oh, and that phonecall was 14 days after I sent them an email about the problem to which I received no response.
23. The driver in my cab is knackered and Ashdown aren't playing ball - despite the fact that it's rated to 250w and the amp I had plugged in was running at half volume at around half power (ie at 8 ohms), it gave up and I need to replace the speaker. So I am looking for a 15" driver rated up to about 300w OR a cab that I can either use, or remove the speaker and put into my Ashdown cab. But this is a wanted ad you say! Well for swaps, I have an Encore Precision type bass. It's a good few years old and is red. And in good condition - I don't use it and I need a working amp again, so PMs if you are interested. It doesn't come with a bag or case so a face to face meet is probably preferable. JA
24. Generic one now gone also through the magic of ebay
25. Les Paul case gone on ebay, rectangular one still available
