1. 27brigade are at the Running Horse in Nottingham tonight from 8 ish I think. I'll be the one covered in emulsion paint...err...and playing the bass.
2. i had an acoustic bass shipped in a hardcase and the original shipping box with USPS for $70 which is what I was charged. The actual shipping cost was about $98. My stingray (in hardcase) also cost roughly the same to ship with USPS.
3.
hiwatt?
think even this is made in PRC now Arbiter have resurrected the brand. Some Laney stuff is still made in Cradley Heath I think.
4. so does everybody take it in turns to have their rig on or is there a competition to drown each other out?
5. you can't take a mac on a picnic - that would require a generator or some sort of power to facilitate the use of the mac and it would probably more like trouble than fun. all you need is cakes, a flask of tea and perhaps some sandwiches
6. wherever i can get the best deal. if the shop is good, the guitar is good, the service is good and the price difference between shop and online isn't much, then the shop wins. i would rather buy secondhand and let somebody else handle the depreciation
7.
Hmm, i dunno. I presume your talking about a part exchange, as you can get them new for £250. You got any pics?
not of the v'ax, not yet got around to taking one. to be honest, i'm thinking about having a mass cull for a 335 or possibly a 4003. good luck though
8. tea, cakes, macs, cars - very good, carry on - leave your ginger beer behind though. I don't think there is VAT on biscuits either.
9. I found a really good site ages ago about Odyssey, but I'm fecked if I can find it now. Our guitarist has an Odyssey guitar - I believe they all had DiMarzio pickups in although I can't comment on the bass. His guitar is a bloody good piece of kit. Any pics or what?
10. whereever there's a DI and a mic. i prefer to stand to the left of the frontman as he's left handed and i don't like crossing headstocks
11. is that the same as Satchmo's Lazy Bar or am I thinking of something completely different?
12. that's depends whether you actually have a man upstairs banging on the floor everytime you plug it in. he's probably saying "turn that bloody thing down", but you can't hear him over the top!
13. i think you could stick it on ebay as a "Fender Jazz Bass" and then list the build in the description. I think you might do quite well out of it - that's just me saying, but if not, let me know how much you want for the control panel
14. have a set of d'addario half rounds (ENR71?) on my USA Precision - 45-100. I really like them, feel nice and give a sort of somewhere between flats and rounds sound.
15. would you be interested in selling it matt? i know my dad would like an unlined fretless, solid 5, but he may be interested in a 6
16. and another the guitar workshop (www.theguitarworkshop.co.uk) in Ibstock - 01530 267 324. Leicestershire (near Coalville, but about 13 miles from Leicester - actually 13.8 from my house ). Just done a very good job on a replacement nut on my Les Paul - quick and good value too.
17. i ordered a hiscox from dolphin and had to chase them three times - good price, but i would have paid the extra fiver to have got one from somewhere else. Thomann on the other hand have always been superb
18. hello! I play a bit of 6 string soprano bass, tuned eadgbe as well. sometimes i tune it dadgad and sometimes even ebeg#be. what are you selling?!
19. mint, literally as new - despite being 3 years old - black/black/maple USA P. Picked it up, brought it home, put the case on the dining room table, opened the case, took out the bass and doingggggg - whacked the headstock on the big glass lampshade above the dining table - result, one big ding right on the end of an otherwise mint bass never mind
20. a little bump. I'm away from Thursday 14th until Monday 18th and then it will be on ebay if there are no takers here.
