1. you might be able to use an a/b/y box as well - it might do the same thing as the rick-o-sound thing
2. is this the one with the two outputs on it? If so aren't you supposed to use two mono cables into one rick-o-sound box? I've never used a Ric so I don't know for definite but I was under the impression you could either use them in mono, stereo to two amps or stereo into a rick-o-sound, but all with mono leads.
3. is there such a thing as a strap with a pocket for a wireless pack? I want to get my dad one for christmas but i've not found anything online. The only thing I can think of is to try and have one made, but I'd prefer to buy one.
4. i play a p bass with a pick - by default really as i like p basses and having switched from guitar, i'm still playing with a pick and probably won't stop as i don't see any need to. the attached is P bass, half flats and a pick. can't say i'm dead keen on the wombats, but i don't mind the pigeon detectives and the holloways. the fratellis write alright songs and their album isn't bad, but they were sh*te live.
5. i play 4 stringers, but i've borrowed a fiver to see how i get on. having spent a couple of hours playing along to some of our recorded songs, there are two songs that are made easier on a five and another 1 that I can use the lower end of the scale (ie below the E). I don't know whether it's this particular bass I've borrowed, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the B and don't think I'll be going for one really.
6. i've got schallers on my basses and jim dunlop dual design on my les paul the JD ones are very good and very secure, but when they're in use, the combination of the lock and the button is huge. if you buy the schaller strap buttons from allparts, you get massive great big screws that are a direct replacement (threadwise) for EB MM, and Fender - mine swapped straight over - although I do definitely agree that if you get the complete schaller set, the screws are rubbish.
7.
I am one very happy bass bunny: 2005 4003 MG with VTC
a what with what?
8. i have cherry picked bits of this thread so sorry if I've repeated anything. I have never EVER heard our FOH sound, we have an engineer driving the desk wherever we go - be it the house system engineer or the person who owns the PA - sometimes we've been told that the sound was a bit ropey, but we've never been told it was bloody awful. I doubt I will ever hear our FOH sound and have no idea what it sounds like - which is, in a way, a bloody shame.
9.
Will consider trades for 53 plate Renualt Laguna Dci Cat
1.9?
10.
But that's when I'll be selling the bikes... must rationalise down from 14 to some slightly more manageable number. So how will people be able to afford basses when they're buying my bikes, eh? Triumph Trident 900 Triumph Trident 900 with Sprint fairing and oil leak Triumph Daytona 900 Triumph T595 Daytona Triumph Tiger 900 Triumph T140V Bonneville Triumph T150V Trident Triumph T20 Tiger Cub Triumph T15 Terrier Triumph Tigress Suzuki GS500 Honda CB250N Honda CB400T Honda VF750SC
I know the same can be said for basses, but why do you need so many bikes? At least i can keep all my guitars/basses in a cupboard upstairs!
11. I agree - unless you've got something that the collectors will be all over whatever time of year, I think you'll have a better chance of getting a good price in the spring.
12. and here's me thinking you were giving away 1950s heroin
13. cab cover now keeping my cab nice and warm
14. if anybody fancies coming, i will be at la piazza in loughborough tonight, with my band 27brigade i forgot all about it to tell the truth
15. doesn't look like I have got anything to buy so I'm going to keep hold of this for the time being. If anybody happens to have a 70s P and you would consider taking this in P/X, please drop me a PM
16. i agree it is subject to the scene that you play in in our scene if you want punters to come, you play in a venue with no admission fee - therefore you don't get paid. if it lets me showcase my stuff, the so be it.
17. i don't think they're massively valuable - £400/£500 maybe? I should have bought a G&L Asat guitar in Boston at new year but I wanted a tele custom more (and still do). But it was only the equivalent of £350 and was mint - should have had it.
18. all good for me too - bought the TU300 for my guitarist - Pete said it had suffered some damage but was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Cheers
19.
I agree. The bands who play for nothing, or pay to play, make it difficult for the rest of us who insist on payment for our services.
you are taking the piss aren't you? I agree on the paying to play - I would never do that, but sometimes my original band has to play for nothing or we would have a limit to the number of places we could play. At our level, and I am sure there are plenty more out there, it's more about raising the profile of your band than earning any money out of it. I'm not going to drive halfway across the country for free, but I'll travel the same distance I'd be prepared to travel for a night out for an unpaid originals gig.
20. crosses fingers (no bass playing for me for sometime, unless I can develop a new technique, that involves crossed fingers).
