yes - Thringstone - I didn't include it because I didn't think anybody would have ever heard of it. I hadn't and I only live 10 miles away

Another one for Leicestershire - Nigel Roberts, http://www.leicestershire-luthier.co.uk/ 07956889394/01530454945, sort of between Loughborough and Coalville and not far from Jct23 of the M1 - very thorough and will make sure a job is done properly before he lets it go. Has lots of work so sometimes his queue to get things done is substantial, but he has had my Les Paul and Precision bass since Friday (11th October?) and I've been told they're nearly finished which is good enough for me. Currently also working on a headstock break for my guitarist.

I have an Am Standard Precision bass which was fitted with the Schaller style straplocks when I bought it - I would have assumed these were the Fender branded ones if they were supplied with the bass. I bought some Am Standard style strap buttons from axesrus so I could use the same strap on my precision as my tele and fitted them. The lock part doesn't lock properly onto the strap button - I've inspected the difference between the Fender (I think) button and the Schaller (I know) button, but the bass in question is at the mender's at the moment so I can't compare the two for definite. The Scallers on my strat do look ever so slightly different to the new ones I've got. Anybody got both the Fender and the Schaller?
stringray! is that the new one with the extra pickup? i saw one of those and i really loved it - would the 5 string version have the same gap between each string?
No mine's a single humbucker and I've not tried a five so I don't know what the spacing is sorry

played a gig at a sailing club last night little lad, probably about 12 maybe - "is that what flea plays?" (referring to my stingray) "yeah" says I, "amongst others. Do you play? Do you want to have a go?" "what really?" he says all excited now I can't slap for toffee but this lad put my playing to shame so yeah, i imagine a stingray is probably quite good for slapping, especially if you've got 12 year old's sized hands!

maybe - i'll have a look into those the coating is pretty much stripped from the full length of the string
-
A fella I know has recently put frets and mop dots into a Wal Which is what his customer wanted
-
No worries Ped I'm really p*ssed off with mine, they had about and hour and a half before the coating started to split and 3 months later, it's nearly all come off on the E and A - are they really as good as everybody says they are?
-
yep - apparently this is new news, couple of weeks old maybe so it must be Westside that are dropping them from their range. I could be wrong - or at leas the person that told me could be.

nice work - i am liking that

going underground - jam - bass tab required
john_the_bass replied to john_the_bass's topic in Theory and Technique
I can have a go - unfortunately I am spending more time playing it than sitting down with a pen but I'll try and get one down -
Has anybody else heard the rumour that the current UK distributor is no longer supplying Elixirs in the UK? I heard something the other day along the lines of "if you want some, you better get some now because when the current stock in the shops goes, there will be no more until a new supplier takes them on". To me, this is no massive loss - I put a set of polywebs on my stingray and they sounded great to begin with - the coating shredded off them pretty quickly and maybe 3 months down the line I now have a dead E and A string and a new-as-the-day-they-were-fitted-sounding D and G - so the second bit of the post is - those of you with stingrays, what do you use on your bass - I like a 45-100 or 105 and I would like something that isn't so immediately bright, but doesn't sound like a dead string. Any suggestions?
Hey all, want to know if any of you guys are big enough to list other instruments you may play, if so what and what gear do you use. This may have been done before. I am only asking because I have recently purchased a new guitar and marshall amp. I am a bass player first, but still like to dabble. I do feel bad about it though.....ah well.Anyone else?
I play guitar and have done much much longer than I have played the bass, but I play guitar in one band and bass in another so our is house is full of gear (that's how I justify it anyway). I've got the usual array of tele/strat/les paul/semi and a gordon smith and a laney lc30 valve amp. I dont' feel bad about it, in fact i think it's made me a better musician - picking up the bass improved my musicianship and then joining another band on guitar and playing covers taught me even more.

Cheers fella - I tried all the main tab sites and all the tabs on them were either incomplete or wrong - so I ended up with some notation I v-e-r-y slowly picked my way through coupled with stuff that I could hear in the mix to try and correct the mistakes I made reading it or the mistakes written in it. I think I'm there - the band has had a couple of cracks at it and it's not gone too badly really considering we're winging it. -
What is also intruiging is the fact that the neck and body are double bolted
I've just looked at this again and I couldn't have read the whole listing properly the first time. What does that mean?
Just because he's a t*t for imagining for one minute that the bass is worth £3k does not make it a 'rip off'! No one is being conned or forced to part with £3k he is simply deluding himself and paying great big fat listing fees to eBay... if heaven forbid, someone did give him £3k for it then more fool them.
errr......
