Fender American Standard Jazz Bass (2016) - *SOLD*

At the age of 71 with ongoing arthritis and other health issues, I have decided to call it a day and sell all my gear, so up for sale is my: Fender American Standard Jazz (2016) in Black with a Rosewood Board. It’s all original, plays and sounds just like a J Bass should. It’s in good condition but it does have a few marks here and there, there are also a couple of small chips at the bottom which I have highlighted in a photo. It comes with the original Fender hard-shell case, and extra Black Pickguard. Weight: 8lb 12oz You are welcome to try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The serial number dates it as September 2016, so this would have been one of the last of the "American Standards" to roll off the production line. Collection preferred, but I might consider delivering up to 100 miles for fuel costs. Courier is possible at buyer’s expense.

It’s all original, and plays and sounds just like a P Bass should. It’s in very good condition but it does have a few minor marks/scratches here and there, they are not really noticeable unless held up to the light. Comes with the original Fender hard-shell case. I think they are done by lots of different session musicians and bands because I use them to upload bass covers to YouTube, and some of them get taken down because of copyright issues.

Lovely!

That looks beautiful

Just wondering how many of you are put off buying a bass if the fingerboard is either Laurel, or Pau Ferro. I have to admit that I am, it's the paler colour I don't like, especially as I love a really dark rosewood board. In a blind test, I'm sure most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference in sound, or playability. Am I the only one?

That might be too much for some people who post on JMB. This is quite typical of some of the ads I've seen recently on JMB: "Wanting to start a band" no other information included. 🤔

There have been times when our band is looking to recruit someone, and we've paid for a month's subscription on Bandmix because it's the only way you can message people, because it's not free. Over the past couple of years we have sent out 102 messages to people on there, just FIVE people bothered to reply. At least with JMB you don't have to pay to contact the "time-wasters" that seem to be in abundance on both sites.

I'm not normally a fan of Christmas songs and when it was suggested we play this at a Christmas gig a few years ago, I thought, oh no! But to my surprise, when I started learning it, I actually fell in love the bass line and learnt it note for note, fortunately, the rest of the band had learn't their parts properly as well and it was as tight as duck's whatsit in rehearsal, and I couldn't wait to play it live, but on the morning of the gig, a couple of feet of snow fell and the gig was cancelled. Up until this day, I never did get to play it live, but I always run through it a few times leading up to Christmas, just in case.

Alegree Solderless Precision Bass Wiring Harness Question?
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in Repairs and Technical
The two wires from the pickup go into the slots so nothing should be touching. The volume only works if I turn the tone on a little bit, it would be ok when playing at home, but if I was playing live and I inadvertently turned the tone off completely, then I would effectively be turning the volume off as well, which isn't ideal in a live situation. -
I've just purchased a Alegree Solderless Precision Bass Wiring Harness. The harness is made up with quality components including - CTS solid shaft shaft potentiometers - Orange drop capacitor - Switchcraft jack socket It's a neat piece of kit but the volume only works if the tone pot is slightly on, if I turn the tone completely off, the volume control does not work. Is this normal, or is there a fault?

Mick has just purchased my Lakland 44-51 Custom P Bass, he came to my home to try it out first, and we had a great chat about music and football for a couple of hours. Mick is a great guy and very trustworthy, the whole transaction was smooth and pleasant.

Just sold a lovely American Pro Jazz neck to Dave, the transaction was very smooth with great communication. Great guy to deal with. Cheers Brian

Your work is superb!

Here's my old band "Stupidity" playing She Does it Right, we only covered the Wilko era, and we only played about a dozen gigs, we weren't the greatest band around, but playing those Wilko inspired songs was so much fun for us. It was recorded on a mobile phone so the audio isn't that great. We all miss him so much! She Does It Right - Stupidity.mov

Yes, I'll concede that Mick Green came first, and I love the Pirates as well.

RIP Wilko. I saw Dr Feelgood many times in the 70's, I just loved the high energy of Wilko and Lee. I played in a Dr Feelgood tribute for a while until 2019. By his own admission, he was not the greatest guitarist around, but his style was truly unique.

Your refinishes are superb Kevin, love them all. Here's my "refinish" effort, it's a home-built P bass, the body was originally sunburst which I purchased from Northwest Guitars, Mighty Mite neck with Fender Am Std Tuners, Fender Custom Shop 62 pickup, and ObsidianWire Solder-less harness. I stripped the sunburst back to bare wood and used spray cans from Northwest Guitars, the finish isn't perfect, and slightly flat, but I like it because it looks a little bit aged.
