Fender Limited Edition American Standard PJ Bass with Jazz Width Nut (One of The Magnificent Seven) NOW SOLD!!! This the second bass I have up for sale because I have now decided to completely trim my basses down to just two, main bass, and back-up bass, so this lovely bass which I purchased on this marketplace during lock-down, has to go as well. It is part of "The Magnificent Seven" that Fender introduced in 2016, and this is one of just 500 worldwide and is in absolutely mint condition, and comes with the original Fender hardcase. It has a Maple neck with a Rosewood fretboard and has a 38mm Jazz width nut. It truly sounds and plays amazing. I have included a YouTube clip that I recorded directly through my interface into Reaper, there are no effects added, and there was NO bass on the original backing track, so you are actually hearing the bass that is up for sale. You are welcome to come and try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. More info can be found here: https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2016/06/07/fender-unveils-limited-edition-american-standard-pj-bass/

Lakland USA Bob Glaub Custom PJ Bass After going on a spending spree during lock-down, I have now decided to completely trim my basses down to just two, main bass, and back-up bass, so this stunning example which I purchased on this marketplace during lock-down, has to go. It is in absolutely mint condition and comes with the original Lakland hardcase. It has a quarter-sawn Maple neck with a Rosewood fretboard, birds-eye maple position markers, and It has a 38mm Jazz width nut. It truly sounds, and plays amazing, I've included a YouTube video of me attempting to play Smooth Operator with my arthritic fingers on the bass, so please go easy on me, lol. It's going straight through my interface into Reaper with no effects added. The bass on the original audio has NO bass, so you are actually hearing the Lakland bass. You are welcome to come and try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Edit: It originally came with a black scratchplate which I still have and will be included in the sale, I had the tort scratchplate made using the original one as a template. Weight: 8lb 6oz.

Songs that make you feel uncomfortable - Part II
thebrig replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Strangely, I'm more comfortable playing songs like My Sharona and Billie Jean but I used to cr*p myself when we did AC/DC's Live Wire. I had to play the same note intro for what seemed like an age, I was always worried that I would get the tempo wrong or miss a note which stand out like a sore thumb, but once the drums and second guitar came in , no problem. ๐ -
I could be wrong, but surely these lyrics are only asking, Would you choose to walk or stay? I really don't see the connection with amputees. But, saying, I would rather go blind! is a statement that they would choose to go blind, which to my mind is a terrible thing to say.
-
Not a song I have ever played in a band, but I always feel uncomfortable when I hear it: I would rather, I would rather go blind Then to see you walk away from me How must blind people feel when they hear these lyrics?

I am definitely the least talented member in my band, the other members have been playing since they were kids totalling around 150 years between them, they are all very good musicians with plenty of experience, and when they talk in musical terms, I struggle to know what they are on about sometimes because I am self-taught and only starting playing about ten years ago, but when it comes to rehearsals, they turn to me to lead them through any new songs because I know the arrangements and structures because I put the work in, whereas, they don't. Yes, they are much better musicians than me, but I think that I am probably a better team player, and it sounds like you are too!

Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 and Barefaced Super Twin G3 Question
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks for the replies guys. I've had the Genz Benz Shuttles 9.2 head for around five years and always used it with two Genz Benz Shuttle 2x10 cabs, and to be honest, it sounded great, but then I thought if the Barefaced Super Twin can give me the same, or more in just one cab, then that would be a better option. I've only used the Genz Benz/Barefaced setup in rehearsal so far, but I think this combination sounds even better, so I'm one happy bunny! ๐ -
Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 and Barefaced Super Twin G3 Question
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks for the reply, according to the specs, yes. 500W/8ohms, 900W/4ohms -
I use a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 head with a Barefaced Super Twin G3, I think it sounds awesome but I was wondering, I just use one cable to connect the head to the cab, does this give me the full potential of the head and cab? The head is rated 500W/8ohms, 900W/4ohms, and the Super Twin is 4 ohm nominal impedance. I don't fully understand how it all works and would appreciate some advice from you more knowledgible folk out there. Cheers

The way our drummer bounces up and down when he's playing, its like he's sitting on a mini trampoline ๐

This is our rehearsal marquee at the drummer's pad, we used it throughout the summer between the first and second lockdowns. Our first session since October is tomorrow morning 11am - 2pm Can't wait! ๐ธ๐ฅ๐ค

Thought I would upload my version of The Stranglers "Nice n Sleazy", my fretting hand is still a bit restricted after severing a couple of tendons in my hand during lockdown, but I'm getting there slowly. ๐ Nice n Sleazy Hi Res).mov

Yeah your right, I'd forgotten it was Ronnie Wood

Here's one of the most obvious ones. Maggie May where Ronnie Lane hits a bum note after the solo just as the vocals come back in. Maggie May.mp3

Where Is the best/safest place to sell gear nowadays?
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
You are probably right but I am having a new window installed in my "music" room that needs a bit more light, and I have three basses hanging on the wall where the new window will be. Like many of us, I have far more gear than I actually need or use so I have decided to move stuff on and keep everything to a minimum. Sounds drastic I know, but in reality, I know that I only need two basses, main bass and backup bass, and I have five at the moment. Iโm not under any pressure from the boss, and she expressed genuine sadness when I said I'm going to sell a few. -

I was wondering about a consignment sale, any idea what sort of commission shops/dealers charge? -
I'm about to put a lot of gear up for sale and I'm interested to know what you consider to be the best, and safest places other than our very own BassChat Marketplace. I've used eBay in the past, but I'm now wary of the amount of scams associated with it, and of course, the high fees they charge. I definitely don't trust Gumtree, but I've heard that Reverb is pretty good, has anyone used it, and how does it work?

Not a P bass if it has a J neck?
thebrig replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
I owned this 1971 Fender Precision a few year's ago, 38mm at the nut, and 71/2" radius. It played and sounded great, I just wish I still had it. ๐
