UPDATE!!! More Courier Problems! This time it's MyHermes
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I don't suppose you still have the contact number by any chance? I've Googled for it but the only numbers that come up are automated just for tracking purposes, there are no options that will take you through to speak to someone. -
I sold my Sadowsky Bass Preamp DI Box to a fellow BC'er just over a week ago, the transaction between us went smoothly and with great communication. I packed it in plenty of bubble wrap and put it in a strong cardboard box, I then sealed it with loads of 2" packaging tape and attached the address label that I downloaded from Parcel2Go, the package was then collected from my home on Saturday 2nd March by MyHermes, but has not been scanned since and is now lost in the system. Neither Parcel2Go or MyHermes can be contacted by telephone, so I sent MyHermes a message via their online messaging service, they replied that because I booked their service through Parcel2Go, I would have to contact them, so I then sent Parcel2Go a message, and they said they would contact MyHermes but it would take at least two working days for them to respond, so I then decided to send Parcel2Go a message on their FaceBook page and at least they are replying to me, but I am now having to deal with them via the FB messaging service which I think is appalling, I've asked them for a telephone number so I can actually speak to someone, although I don't hold out much hope of getting one. I just don't understand how a parcel can go missing between my home and the depot. Here is a screenshot taken a few minutes ago (12th March) of the tracking, as you can see, it was collected 2nd March at 10.36am and then disappeared without trace! 😕

It's actually working ok at the moment but if it cuts again, I will check the solder joint, cheers.

Thanks for the advice so far. It's definitely not the lead because I immediately plugged it into my other bass and it worked perfectly, I purchased the harness only six month's ago so the jack socket is exceptionally clean and has a strong grip, and I purchased the pickups only five week's ago so they should be fine also, the cavity is not shielded, and the the jack socket is firmly secured to the pickguard and would be be almost impossible to move even slightly, which is why it's a complete mystery to me. 🤔

I have been using Obsidian Wiring Harness's in my basses for a few years now and never had any problems until now. I have one in one of my P basses and the sound has started cutting out, it's happened a couple of times in the past few days and each time I have removed the pickguard to inspect the wires in the clamp on the harness but the wires are tight and can't be pulled out, each time I released them and then re-inserted them, but still no sound, I then unscrew the pickups which are brand new Fender Custom Shop 62's remove them and then re-insert them, low and behold, the sound comes back, the wires are firmly soldered to the pickups so I can't work out whether the problem is with the harness or the pickups. Any ideas as to what could be the cause would be most welcome. Btw, I absolutely love the Obsidian Wiring Harness's, they are so easy to install, and they make a great difference to the tone.

Just tried the Online Pitch Shifter and although the "Maintain Tempo" box is ticked, it speeds up and slows down whenever you move the slider

I'm considering one of these, so what was it like? 🤔

KORG X50 for sale SOLD!!! £195.00 Posted!!! I purchased this from Digital Village for well over £500 a few year's ago and hardly ever used it, I thought that I might be able to learn how to play keys, but unfortunately I just don't have the talent so have decided to move it on. It is in fantastic, unmarked condition, and I still have the original box, mains lead, and manual. Collection from Bridgnorth, Shropshire would be preferred, and you are welcome to come and try it for yourself. The Korg X50 is a descendent of the Korg Triton and is capable of producing unbelievable sounds, here are a few YouTube links where you can see and hear just what it can do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRO9x6wswl4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP6poZjnKEU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGj9YU6LQjQ Here is a link where you can read more about it: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/korg-x50-synthesizer-display-stock

Basschat feedback / buying & selling / the people on this forum
thebrig replied to dodge_bass's topic in General Discussion
It's probably me being stupid🤔, but when it comes to leaving feedback, I'm never really sure how to go about it. If I open the feedback forum, where do I find the person I want to leave feedback for? At the moment there are 223 pages of feedback with many BC's having feedback left in different places, is there a reason why a member's feedback could not be in the their profile so that when you click on their profile you can see their feedback immediately? Like most people, I much prefer to buy and sell on BassChat and don't like using eBay, but at least you can see the person's feedback immediately on eBay. -
I know Amazon gets a lot of bad press but I would like to praise them for their excellent customer service. Over the past few years I have purchased a variety of items from them and if I ever want to return something for whatever reason, I always find them most helpful and they usually either replace the item or offer a full refund. This morning I removed the Seymor Duncan Quarter Pounder pickup from my precision bass which I purchased from Amazon last June 2018, I was going to replace it with a Fender CS 62 pickup which is more suitable for the genre I play, but in doing so, one of the wires detached itself from the pickup, before removing it, my original intention was to sell it on through our marketplace, but after discovering the detached wire, I thought that if I re-soldered the wire back, it might put people off buying it. I then thought that it should still covered by the warranty, so I called Amazon to see how I go about returning it for a repair, I explained what had happened and straight away the person asked if I want a replacement or a full refund, obviously I went for a full refund seeing that I was going to sell it anyway. When I look back at some of the problems I've had with some of the so called reputable music stores where they deny all responsibility, and usually say you should return the item to the manufacturer, it makes me think that I might be better off buying most of my musical items from Amazon in future.

Yes its sweet, as is yours mate 😊
-
Yes, I saw your bass on his website and drew his attention to it, I also showed him this one which was also on his website which would have been the sort of relic that I wanted.
-
This happened to me early 2018, I was after a Fender American Standard P Bass and although they are discontinued, a major online store had one at a discounted price, it was advertised as NEW so I bought it. When it arrived the next day, I opened the case and there was no "case candy" (tags, strap, etc), and although the bass was pristine, I called the shop and said that I suspect that it was an ex- display model and that they should have pointed it out on the website, I also mentioned that the "case candy" is important to some people if I was to sell the bass on. To be fair, the person I spoke to agreed and offered me £50 compensation which was paid into my account immediately. The bass was already £300 below the normal price so I actually got a whopping £350 off altogether. 😉

At the age of 67, I think I'll be well gone before my bass with a poly finish will start to look aged 😉

Bass players who take their hand off the neck
thebrig replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
Exactly this with me, arthritis in my hands so it helps to drop my hand and let it rest a bit, and besides, it's usually only for a few seconds. I also suffer from shoulder problems, so again, it helps to ease the pain. Why do some people stop and have a rest when they are walking? there's usually a reason why they do. -
That's right, and to be quite honest, if I had a bass thats finished in nitro then it would wear naturally after plenty of playing anyway
-
His work looks first class but from what I can gather, you have to send your instrument to France so he can relic it, and I guess the paint has to be nitro. I went onto his website and clicked the English version but it still isn't very clear. 🤔
