I have a p bass body and a status stingray neck . I am thinking of putting them together . My question is do I move the bridge or recut the pocket. Any help would be great
I have two precisions with Status graphite necks on, I purchased them direct from Status and they fitted perfectly onto my P bass bodies, they also play and sound great to my ears, very articulate, but not cold sounding as some people might say. You say you refer P's, so it sounds like you want a P with a graphite neck, rather than a Stingray with a graphite neck, so if it was me, I would sell the Stingray neck which is unused, so you should get a good price for it, and put the money towards a new graphite neck from Status which should just slot into your P bass body, job done! But if it was really me, I would almost certainly buy a Stingray body to fit the Stingray neck you already have, and then buy a Status graphite neck to fit the P body you already have. I would then have a P and a Stingray both fitted with graphite necks!

Buying a Bass from Amazon and Selling on eBay for Massive Profits!
thebrig replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Well, in the old days where there was only one or two stores available near one's home it would be natural for someone looking to buy gear to have to settle for the available stock and price tags. In this case you're reporting my opinion is if anybody is capable to use a computer and payment technology to buy a bass from e-bay then they surely have the ability to use google. If they get ripped off it's their fault (darwin selection). This doesn't take from the attitude of that seller, he's clearly not an honest person.
I think that it's a bit too simplistic to say it's the buyer's "own fault". For example, my wife has a laptop, and occasionally she buys the odd item online, but when I check what she's bought, I often find the item cheaper elsewhere, this is not because she doesn't know how to turn the laptop on, or has not heard of Google, it's just that she does not know how to use these things properly, and how to get the best out of what they have to offer. We all log onto BC regularly which means we all have the necessary knowledge to get that far, but there are different levels as to what we can do, look how often people admit to not knowing how to upload a picture, or to add a YouTube or eBay link, that doesn't make them stupid, or do they deserve to be ripped off should they dare be brave enough to make an online purchase. If I was to casually mention that I would like to have that bass for my birthday, my wife (providing I'm in her good books at the time), might go on eBay and see that bass and buy it for me, she might have even had look at other Ibanez SR's costing a lot more, but because they all look pretty much the same to an untrained eye, she my think that's a fair price. Does she deserve to be ripped off just because she only has a basic knowledge of using a computer, and didn't spend hours on Google first? -
I don't suppose this is really anything to do with me, but I just hate seeing people getting ripped off! I was just casually going through the basses for sale on eBay when I noticed this Ibanez SR500 for sale at £886.02 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-SR500-Bass-Guitar-in-Brown-Mahogany-/231961657319 So I contacted them thinking they have made a typing error with the price, since then, we have had a couple of conversations, and here's how the conversations went: Me: These are £529.00 BRAND NEW everywhere. How can you justify asking £886.02? Seller: Hello, I'm sorry I can't do anything about the price as we work on very low margins. Thanks for looking. Best Regards, Charisse Customer Support Me: Hi, and thanks for getting back to me. I originally asked the question because I thought it must be a genuine mistake, but now all I can say is that I hope no unsuspecting person who is not aware of what the RRP is on these basses, doesn't make a very expensive mistake and purchase this bass from you without looking around first. As for working on very low margins, you could buy these at the retail price of £529 and still make a profit of £357.02 on each bass! Seller: Hi, Good day! I will forward your concern and keep you posted. Thank you Best Regards, Charisse Customer Support I've just read all their negative feedback and I now realise that they are actually advertising on eBay, waiting for someone to make and pay for an order, then ordering the item from Amazon and sending them on, which is a form of drop-shipping I suppose. They are doing nothing illegal, and I don't begrudge anyone trying to make a living, but this sort of mark-up is obscene! Or is it just me?

WITHDRAWN! SONAR 8 Producer + Power Studio If you are looking at this, then I'm guessing you know what it's all about, because I don't! To make matters worse, it cost me almost £500! I bought this from Digital Village a few year's ago thinking that somehow I will get to know how to use this piece of software. The furthest I got was recording my guitar and bass into it, but I didn't have a clue what to do next, so here it is, up for sale! Please make sure this is compatible with your system, it's 32 bit & 64 bit.

Sorry, but I've decided to withdraw this fantastic bass. Fender USA 60th Anniversary Precision Bass. Absolutely Fantastic Condition! £995 Posted! Sorry, No Trades Please! If you have seen some of my other ads recently, then you will know that I am having a serious cull of my collection, mainly because of health issues, but also to try and raise some cash for recording equipment, and this is probably one of the hardest sales of the lot, I have had at least twenty precisions in the last few years and they've all been great instruments, but in my humble opinion, this one is probably the best of the lot! I bought this from a fellow BassChatter about 18 month's ago, I believe virtually unused, and since then it has never left the house, obviously I've played it a few times at home because it is such a fantastic bass, but I've been frightened to take it to rehearsals or gigs because it is in such fantastic condition, so it really needs to go to someone who is going to use it. I'm not going to say too much about this beauty because it's a P bass, you know what it does, and this one does it brilliantly! Here are some pics to show you how nice it is. Edited: to add pic of 60th Anniversary neck plate which I had somehow omitted.

The sunburst is also a lot richer in the flesh than the photos suggest. Brian's a top bloke. Honest, reputable seller. GLWTS! Without wishing to get everyone feeling sorry for me, I would like to say that I was on the verge of packing up gigging due to my severe back problem, I've already started selling off some of my basses (three this week), because I know the day I have to quit is getting nearer, I'm on nineteen tablets a day plus liquid morphine every four hours, so I'm drugged up to the eyeballs, I've not been able to drive for some time now, so my wife had to drive me to the gig last night and she hates driving in the dark, but because I'm a dedicated and reliable person, I wanted to complete our remaining three gigs to the end of the year no matter what, I did not want to let the venue down so I carried on despite the pain, and this is how they treat you. BTW, I said I was on the verge of quitting, I now have, I'm a bit old school when it comes to being reliable and courteous etc, but I've got to realise that there is no point in worrying about commitments, no one else seems to these days. -
Could have been a good gig if it was full, they know how to party around there! Lol.
The four people who were in there seemed to be enjoying it as they were singing along and tapping their hands on the table etc, and I think they must have asked the assistant manager why we finished after the first set, because I overheard him saying to them that he couldn't afford to pay us because there wasn't enough punters in. -
I know that pub, that was quite a trek for that type of gig, who booked it in the first place?
I did, we are a newish band trying to get onto the local circuit, so I sent out loads of emails direct or via their Facebook pages to pubs that have bands, obviously you don't know whether the pubs are going to be dedicated music pubs, or just have the occasional band until you actually get there, as it turned out, it's not the type of place we would want to play at if we had known what it was like in the first place, nice big stage though. -
Like another earlier post I use the Presonus monitors and find them really good for the price. I have the Eris E8 as they replaced a Roland system that employed a sub. I tried the E5s and was concerned that they also sounds like a sub was required. They were OK without but somehow I felt I would always have a nagging doubt. The E8s were, at the time, just too expensive as my budget was similar to yours. However, keep your eyes open for a deal as I got mine from Source (the UK distributors) as an ex-demo pair and paid £225 including shipping. The E8s are full range and definitely do not require bass reinforcement. I also use mine with Nord keyboards and they are very smooth and responsive across the whole range.
Thanks for the advice, I will keep a look out.
I think a call to the landlady on Monday to make sure that she agreed this with her manager and he hasn't just pocketed your cash. Then play it by ear. Pub gigs eh.
She was there when we arrived and I introduced myself to her, it was obvious she had already had a few drinks, but she was fine and didn't say anything at the time, but later on when we were sound checking, I did notice her having words with the manager a few times and looking over at us, so maybe they were talking about paying us off early. The pub is a tied pub by one of the brewery giants, and I know their pubs have a budget for entertainment because I know a few managers of these pubs personally, the chances are, the books will show they had a band on last night, and the fee which is agreed by the brewery would have been paid in full. -
