How old was Sting in 1956.
He was five, but I read somewhere that he was a very early starter! Don't get me wrong here, I'm not doubting the authenticity of the bass, but it does seem a bit odd to see so much wear, that high up on the dusty end of the board?

Fender Precision MIM olympic white with tort plate

I'm on the lookout for a Precision, and was wondering, does a Precision Lite give that typical P thump/tone? The fact that it is lightweight appeals to me, as I have back/neck problems.

I've just ordered some ER20's too! £7.45 including delivery on eBay. These could be the "new" Sue Ryder on BC, as everyone rushes to buy them.
Got it in the post yesterday - so far, wow! Extreme squash and sustain, just like I wanted. I'm gonna put it through its paces with my 6 string, my 12 string tapper and a fretless. Should get some sound clips up soon.
I will look out for your review and clips. Cheers

It normally take me around twenty minutes to get all my gear set up and running, whilst the drummer takes about an hour, and the lead guitarist takes forever farting around with all his gear, and I would imagine this is pretty much the norm for most bands. So why would you want to tune up at home, when you have so much time to kill, you could tune up over and over again while you are waiting. And you can have one last tweek as you take the stage, with a floor tuner permanently plugged in, takes around thirty seconds. Buy yourself a tuner!

A nice spring Bass ditty for your enjoyment
Hey folks - just saw this on the TC Electronics site and it made my cold cynical heart inch up a degree or two. I hadn't heard of Simon Vignola before, so I'm probably coming late to the party. I'm digging the chops making a nice tune, not just nice chops. Enjoy:
Just a pity that he's not playing live! -
Mystery solved I was going to add that there is no silk thread at the bridge end of the string, if that helped at all
No silk thread at the bridge end, so definitely La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats 760FX. Cheers everyone.
La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats 760FX have orange/terracotta silks. They are extra light 39-56-77-96. Does that sound convincing?
Thanks mate, I guess that's what they are, as I've just found the old packet for them. They are great sounding strings IMO. Thanks for all the help guys, it's taken just over an hour to solve the mystery. I new I could rely on you Bass Chatters out there.
That's definitely terracotta rather than red? It's not a trick of the camera?
Most definitely terracotta (flower pot colour), which hopefully, should make them easier to recognise.

After trying many brands of flats over the years, I have found the set I really like. Problem is, I fitted them around six months ago, and I cannot remember what make they are. Is there anybody out there who recognises them? They have terracotta wraps on them.
Not tried it yet, but after reading Ovnilabs I purchased one via ebay - should get it in a week or so. Will probably do review or put up some soundclips as I couldn't find much on youtube or elsewhere regarding the bass compressor specifically.
Look forward to hearing your review. cheers

I'm looking for a compressor, and came across these on eBay. Just wondered whether anyone has any knowledge of them.
you've not got any fenders yet. start there... then super jazzes, then high end stuff.......
I've had Fenders in the past, Precisions, Jazz's amongst many others. I've probably bought/sold/traded around thirty in the past five years. Although I have had many so-called "high-end" basses, the ones I play and gig most, are my moderately priced Ibanez SR500 & SR505.
