1. What is it with me? I have nine very nice basses, and yet as soon as I log onto this site, I head straight to the "Basses For Sale" section. How can I overcome this addiction?
 2. I've got the G30 and have used it up to 50 yards away without any problems. It's a fantastic piece of kit, and I just wished I had got one sooner. It doesn't mess up your sound at all, and I would say it actually improves it. IMO
 3. Here's the American Hot-Rodded P/J Precision I had few years ago, it was great! Just wish I still had it. Why do we always think that the next bass will be better?
 4.
A female front singer for that kind of band just does not do it for me. Your singer in particular is just not suited to the material, no grunt to the voice. You need someone that can move around the stage and communicate with the audience, she is unable to do this if she keeps reading lyrics from a music stand. Even if she knows some of the lyrics to some of the songs, she cant truly rock out just in case she forgets the lyrics without them directly in front of her. Sorry
Same problem with our singer (male), even after a year of playing virtually the same set almost every week! If I mention it, I'm told I'm being too picky!
 5. Thanks for all the help so far everyone.
 6. I just been told that I have to learn 'Moondance' by Van Morrison and 'Could You Be Loved' by Bob Marley, for a gig in a couple of weeks time. Anyone know where I can get the transcriptions or accurate tabs for them? I normally learn most songs by ear, but there's quite a bit going on in these two, and I don't have much time to learn them. So any help would be much appreciated.
 7. I'm looking to get a Precision bass, as I want to form a classic 60/70's style rock band. I had an American Hot-Rodded one a few years ago, which was great, and now wished I had kept. But now I'm looking for another Precision, and am quite confused as to which model to get, as there seems to be so many variations out there. Do they all give a similar sound, or are there quite big differences in them? I must admit, that the current American Standard is a model that appeals to me. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fender-americ...te-maple--48137 Having seen it in the flesh, it certainly looks a well made and solid bass , but will it give me the classic rock sound that I want? Are the Mexican and Japanese models capable of doing the job as well? I'm not a snob as far as which country it was manufactured, I just want a bass that will give me that classic rock tone. I have a budget up to £1,000 All advice and opinions will be much appreciated. Cheers!
 8.
I like this,a lot. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Futurama-JB62-FR-Cla...d#ht_2736wt_982
Sexxxxy! They certainly look the part, but I would love to hear from anyone who played one. I am getting very tempted indeed!
 9.
interesting! I wonder how long it'll be until Fender object to that headstock and font... I like this one: Red & rosewood Futurama P-bass I'm not regretting buying the Squier CV series in fiesta red two weeks ago, because it's turned out to be a fantastic bass. But these certainly have the looks. I wonder what they are like in use.
I agree, the red looks great, and having seen them in the flesh, they all really do look the part. I just wish I took the time now to try one, when I was last in the Bass Merchant. The headstock and logo must surely wind Fender up a bit!
 10. Just wondering whether anyone has tried the Futurama PB62 Precision Bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Futurama-PB62-3TS-Cl...#ht_2725wt_1140 The Bass Merchant in Colchester had a couple in last time I was there, and they told me they played and sounded great. They certainly look the part, and at £159.99 a go, it could make a great back-up bass!
 11. There must be someone who has one!
 12.
Sennheiser E845 my just come in under budget (havent checked for years) Before anyone shouts foul Marty whatsit used one for the last WetWetWet album, because they liked the sound of it on his voice apparently. Failing that the E835 is none too shabby, its a flatter version of the E845, so a little eq will bring a similar sound.
Both good mics, but around £65 for the E835, and £95 for the E845. So maybe, Ian's offer might well be worth considering.
 13. I'm thinking about getting a Line6 Toneport UX8 interface. For fun on my own at home, and recording the band occasionally. Anyone out there use one? My laptop has the following specs, would it work OK on it? Intel Core i5-450M with 4GB Ram, USB only and no express card slot. Your opinions would be gratefully received.

 15.
I can easily record 8 tracks in 24 bit 48000khz WAV on my dual core laptop with firewire... I wouldn't be so confident with USB until I could test it out. Ask around on some recording forums - you should get the pros and cons of both to help you decide.
I have spent the best part of a month on forums, and I'm still confused. I would say it's about 60/40 in favour of firewire, but it seems a shame to use my older computer that is lagging well behind in terms of power. And what I don't get is: Why would reputable manufacturers produce USB audio interfaces with up to 16 ins/outs, if they don't work properly?
 16.
One idea, You will get A LOT more performance from that i5 Processor, So why not go for a firewire interface for recording on that laptop and a small USB one for mixing using the same software. G
It would start to get a bit costly I think, and to be honest, I'm not sure the older laptop would be up to recording the amount of tracks I want without problems. In your opinion, do you think I would I be able to record 8 tracks, simultaneously via USB on the i5 machine?
 17.
Hey Brig, Its not somethng that can be done sadly, Does it not have any express card slots? Gordon
Hi Gordon It does not have an express card slot, most new laptops don't have them any more. It's a pity as the laptop is quite high spec.
 18. Judging by what most people say, it would seem that firewire would give me better results. But the problem I have is that the Intel Core i5-450M with 4GB Ram, (USB only), is the more powerful machine, but it does not have firewire, and even by using firewire on the AMD Thurion 64 x2 with 4GB Ram, the performance is not going to be great, especially as I need to record at least 8 tracks at once. Could someone who builds computers add firewire to my laptop, even if it means perhaps cutting a slot in the casing for it?
 19.
If you don\'t mind used you can pick a MOTU 828 MK2 up for just over £200 these days and they are absolutely superb interfaces. Firewire, midi, SPDIF and also has ADAT built in if thats your bag
Although I've done some basic computer recording, using Sonar Producer 8 and Reaper, I'm not too sure what SPDIF and ADAT actually means and does. Would you mind elaborating a bit? Many thanks.
 20. I've had a couple of threads on here seeking advice on interfaces, and I'm still not sure what to get. I have two laptops, both running Windows7 64 bit versions. One is Intel Core i5-450M with 4GB Ram, but USB only and no card slot. The other is AMD Thurion 64 x2 with 4GB Ram, but has Firewire. Obviously, the Intel Core i5 is the more powerful machine, but I would be restricted to a USB interface. The AMD Thurion 64 x2 does allow me to get a Firewire interface. So the question is: Which option would give me the best performance? I will be looking to record at least 8 tracks simultaneously. Budget up to £500.
 21.
Hi – Another Bass player from Borhamwood, I’m not alone then . Thanks for the info I’ll pass it to our ‘new’ drummer, he’s making the purchase and it’s really for his benefit. The Guitarist and myself have been playing together for over three years now so we’re pretty tight but the poor old drummer is struggling a wee bit remembering where the Starts / Stops / Breaks etc – no wonder really, he has three ¾ hour sets to get his head around and most of the material is news to him – who said Blues and old style R&B was easy? Drop me a PM sometime, if you’re up for it, it’d be nice to have a chat or run things by another local Bass player. Are you playing locally? Oggy
PM'd you!
 22.
I’m sure that this has been asked before but it’s been some time since I’ve been on the site and I’m not sure where to look for the info. I’m looking for a ‘low-cost, say £50 - £100’ digital recorder to use at rehearsal sessions that will give a reasonable quality replay sound, recommendations would be appreciated. Drums / Bass / Guitar and Vocals - Blues Band. Thanks Chaps. Oggy
Hi Oggy, I'm from "Bore em stiff" too! I use a Zoom H4 and find it excellent for live recording, although it does cost around £250. The Zoom H2 is around £150 which should also do a good job. But I saw the Alesis PalmTrack Handheld SD Recorder, in Digital Village for £69.99 reduced from £119, and looks perfect for your needs. Give Digital Village in Barnet a ring, and they will get one for you to try, if they do not already have one. There are quite a few under £100, just check out the DV website. Good luck with your search.
 23. I've just seen the Alesis MultiMix16 USB 2.0 Analogue Mixer & Audio Interface http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug08/arti...ltimixUSB16.htm Anyone have any thoughts on it? Cheers.
