  1. I’ve recently bought a 2600 & am very impressed with it. Lovely playability & super range of tones. Very powerful too. Extremely pleased.
  2. Aesthetically a very clean instrument. Looks fantastic. Has a front pickup, which works but is a bit electrically noisy. Also has a piezo under saddle pickup which works fine & would be the preferred method of amplifying this guitar anyway. Has been into my local guitar shop for a full set up, so playability is excellent. New saddle & Jack socket put on the instrument then too. Ibanez pre-amp with Fishman piezo. I bought gigbag & capo (both Ibanez items) late last year. Bag used only on trips to & from the guitar shop. Official colour is Red Wine. Will consider splitting items. (any ‘marks’ on the pics below will be a reflection!) Collection from Swindon or will meet a reasonable distance from there.
  3. Is the buzzing sound you are getting on all notes or just open strings? (You need a sharp string break angle with a zero fret, otherwise the string can vibrate against the zero fret when playing open notes)
  4. I’ve got my 335 up for sale for less than half that but have got to say, now having serious “should I really be selling it” doubts.....
  5. Stumbled across these..... https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/modern-bass-guitars/sire-version-2-marcus-miller-v10-swamp-ash-4-string-tobacco-sunburst
  6. Am going to be in Castle Donnington, Reigate & Coventry for the odd day or two in March if that helps anyone too far away from Swindon?
  7. There are surface marks on the body that photos won’t pick up, but yes, a great bass given it’s age. The lawn? High quality artificial - takes no effort at all. Possibly the best non-bass purchase i’ve ever made! 😆
  8. Given its 35 year age, very clean although does have some mojo as you can imagine. This is generally light in nature - certainly no significant dents any where. Bridge is tarnished. Being black & shiny, it was a bugger to photograph & much of what you can see in the pics are reflections & my lawn! Came to me with a broken toggle switch, which is now fixed. (spare new ones included in the sale) Tuners hold tune perfectly well, although feel a bit ‘grainy’ when turned. A few months ago I bought a spare set of Westone Thunder tuners just in case & they are included in the sale too. Fitted yesterday with a brand new set of Elite flatwounds. The case in the photo’s is also included in the sale. Great bass in its own right, & cheap enough to give unlined fretless playing a go if you’ve never tried before. Not up for posting this, so collection from Swindon or happy to drive an hour or so for a meet up.
  9. Finally got around to taking pics of my new one. Love this bass!
  10. The fretboard is so nice on this bass it would be sacrilege to de-fret it!! 🙂
  11. Good to hear Jack & nice to meet you. It’s a great bass for sure, as is the 335.
  12. Why thank you. If I hadn’t just spent a wad on an Ibby, i’d be happily keeping them. Ridiculous amount of bass for the money.
  13. SB321 sold very quickly, so now just the SB335 for sale. In stunning condition for its age. 9v active pre-amp. Sen wood body - beautiful grain. Gotoh hardware. Light for a 5 string & extremely easy to play - low buzz free action. SB321 & case - £325 SB335 & case - £380 (or £360 no case) Case is used, but is this type which works well with the angled back headstock;- https://www.dawsons.co.uk/armourdillo-bass-light-case Collection from Swindon or can meet up to a couple of hours drive from there. No trades & I dislike posting instruments! Payment by Bank transfer. My Feedback is here (click the arrow top right corner of box);-
  14. What was I thinking! Withdrawn.
  15. I’ve just caved on the 4 string version.... Online order placed. The thought has been gnawing away at me for a couple of weeks now. A January sale price + a small loyalty points discount was just too much to resist! Might be a rather splendid Maruszczyk Elwood going in the classifieds to pay for it as a result - we’ll see. How are you getting on with yours? Is the tone from that video easily obtainable? You know we all have a ‘tone’ in our heads - that’s pretty much the one in mine.
  16. Ooh, nice. I’d go the for the one in the bottom picture. Just some playing around on the configurator, or a potential purchase?
  17. This might be of help. https://public-peace.de/configurator/frog/frog-type
  18. Re BGM, coincidentally there is a Jazz type Fodera reviewed in the latest issue. ”Doesn’t exactly bowl you over” ”It’s a very good instrument, but not an exceptional one” More specifically to this thread;- “At this price I wanted to be blown away, but was not” Value rating 6/10.........
  19. The control layout is identical to my 335. In passive mode, both my tone controls are redundant. The blend control still works though & does make tonal changes. However, i’d be very surprised if this bass was not always used in active mode. So much more power & tones available in active mode just as you’d expect.
  20. Too late - spotted a great price on the Magellan last night on Anderton’s website so went for it! Should turn up towards the end of next week. That Aguilar does look very nice too, but is £250 more.
  21. I’d imagine; volume, pick up blend, bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut, active/passive switch. This is very well priced now as it is in the bracket for the black hardware lower spec models. The gold hardware models are a definite step up, particularly with regards to the preamp.
  22. Some good & useful comments so far, so thanks for those. Particularly interesting was those about the ‘valve’ sound comes more from the power amp tubes rather than the pre amp ones, & that preamp valve tones can be easily replicated by solid state electronics. After a bit more research & consideration the current leader in my thoughts is the............ Genzler Magellan 800 So neither of the two I started with in my head & no valve pre!! Fantastic reviews everywhere on that head. I like it’s drive section, the contour control & flexible eq with mid freq select. Apparently built to a very high standard too. Just the sort or size & weight I was looking for, with loads of power on tap. That could be the one.... 🤔
  23. I reckon £4310. Roughly. At a guess. Ahem...... 😬 ( I wasn’t on their website when your post came through - honest....🤔🤫)
