  1. Nice! Is that BBOT bridge standard on the 301, or because it is an early model it was a forerunner to the chunky version?
  2. Might have been the situation - after playing a truckload of basses over 30+ years, I think my Elwood 5 is the most comfortable to play bass I've ever owned! Who would be the UK manufacturer that would do that custom build for what sounds like a much cheaper price than an Elwood L? Genuinely interested to know!!
  3. Out of interest, what didn't you get on with?
  4. Feck, that's nice! Presumably that's an ebony fingerboard? Look's very cool glossed. Are those the Luminay side dots?
  5. Great playing & good videos that show the bass off in different musical genres - it copes easily with them all. The bass is a great spec too. I don't need another 4 string otherwise would have been tempted, but can't see this being around for too long. GLWTS.
  6. I have Delano's in both mine & they are great pickups. My Elwood 5a had Bartolini's in when I got it, & I replaced those with a set of JMVC 5's which sound so much nicer & are tonally far more flexible.
  7. Not really no. Over the years I've had a few basses under £500 for example - some were worth just that, others I would have been happy if I'd paid twice what they cost. There's also diminishing returns the more you spend. Many players would deem themselves equally happy with a current MiM Fender vs it's US counterpart despite an £800ish price differential. If i think of say a higher end new Sandberg or Maruszczyk or even a Fender Elite all around the £1800-£1900 mark, to me those types of basses would be everything a player needs & makes a nonsense of spending on anything over £2k.
  8. Sadly unless you are of a certain age bracket, the Westone name will not mean anything to you, & fairly limited demand has an effect on the used prices in the bracket you mention. I paid £170 for my 1A, & I still look at it in disbelief in that is all I had to pay for it. If I had paid £500+ for it imagining that's where the market value was, I wouldn't have been disappointed - the quality is there for sure.
  9. Apparently upgraded then, & not hideous at all.......... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F222978827162
  10. I need time to 'reflect' on that bass........ What an awesome neck - absolutely stunning! Nice socks too!!
  11. Because I changed my pickguard (for aesthetic reasons), I had that off the bass three times - not had any issues with the screws at all. Originals are back on no problem & look as new. The overall build quality is excellent on both mine.
  12. Uptown Girl 500 Miles Come on Eileen Hate these three songs with a passion!!
  13. I certainly do, now being the owner of three of them! (Including one of Pinballs old 335's) I find this. My Maruszczyk's are better instruments than my back up SGC Nanyo's, but not by the 4 - 5 times the price difference! However, that's more of a reflection of the low perceived market value of the SGC's rather than the M's being priced too high. The M's are worth every penny & the SGC's are just a fantastic used bargain!!
  14. Here's a few to add to this thread.
  15. Some info from a guitar builder about the body wood (just an FYI);- Botanical name: Acanthopanax ricinifolius also called SEN or SEN ASH is a high quality tonewood native to Japan and south western China, most recognized on Japanese-made Fenders and Tokai guitars. Although it’s trade name includes the word “ash” it is not related to real ash other than by visual resemblance. It is used for guitar bodies. Its tonal qualities are similar to that of alder hence the commonly used quick description “looks like ash, sounds like alder.” It has a bright, and even cutting midrange tone, good bass, and excellent sustain. Like genuine ash, it is a good choice for natural finishes and can be particularly outstanding in appearance. It is quite expensive and very unusual to see on factory-made guitars.
  16. Nice that. Most excellent grain & colour scheme.
  17. It's possible that one if not both of these two basses have graced this thread, but not together. Bumps the thread again anyways!!
  18. Since Pinball's pics above, I have bought that bass off him taking my total to three now. Here's a couple of pics of the 321 & 335 posing together!
  19. Fortunately I have too many of these already! Nice to see The Bass Centre trying to sell something similar for what should be the correct price..... http://www.basscentre.com/bass-collection-speakeasy/bass-collection-sb325-see-through-green.html However the market hasn't caught up with their way of thinking yet, so top bass bargain's to be had (such as this) in the meantime!!
  20. Hi Joe, I remember you buying this beauty off me three years ago. It is a lovely bass for sure. My 4 string Maruszczyk has a dark wood body & maple fretboard too, so I'm definitely fan of that combination! I'm not in the market at the moment, but this shouldn't be around for long. GLWTS
  21. Fair to say I have had absolutely no desire to move it on since I bought it from you Andrew!! I did change out the Bartolini's back to Delano's though as I needed a bit more 'bite' for the music I play. I was so impressed by it, a few months later I bought another direct from Adrian!!
  22. Nice - very similar to mine, main difference being the fretboard wood.
  23. Mine was a bargain in comparison of €2030. Unfortunately not happening either then sadly...
