  1. Agreed or a decent condition Westone Thunder 1, 2 or 3.
  2. Totally agree with the above - well impressed with my recently acquired SGC BC.
  3. Great suggestions - thanks guys. In the end I plumped for one of these:- https://www.dawsons.co.uk/armourdillo-bass-light-case?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsLPztqLd2QIVG2cZCh0wNAdeEAQYAyABEgKd4PD_BwE The right price & the image gave me comfort that the headstock was going to get decent protection.
  4. Would come in handy on November 5th. Perhaps the seller got his decimal places mixed up & meant £9.90?😆
  5. Oh, it WILL accumulate......! 😆
  6. Ooh nice. Never heard of these before which prompted a bit of Googling. Article below is an interesting read generally, but has a good paragraph on Heartfield. http://www2.fender.com/experience/guitarchive/other-fender-basses-part-ii-1980searly-1990s/
  7. Both my Westone & Bass Collection basses have angled back headstocks, & I'm looking for a decent gigbag for them*. Neck support is a must because of the headstock angle & 20mm+ padding & in black would be preferable. As neither bass is that expensive, I don't want to spend silly money accordingly - £40 or so. Can anybody suggest something suitable as I've not found too much on t'internet. (*When I say them I don't really mean the Westone. Me take a fretless out for public performance? Talent shortfall right there! 😆)
  8. Nice score! I saw that on eBay & was pondering as it was for sale up the road from me in Gloucester if I remember correctly. i bet it's a joy to play, & that pickup combination must give it a nice fat sound.
  9. Nice - good price too. I must admit to having a hankering for a fretted Westone Thunder, but it would have to be an active for me. This shouldn't here for long I reckon.
  10. The OP mentions the decline of the 'main' brands, which as already stated is down to more choice. That is different question to a 'decline' of the guitar market in general. Both Fender & Gibson have models to compete at various price points & I'm sure they sell loads of their budget & mid-range instruments too, so it isn't just about the price of their top end products either. Fact is, there are more brands for us punters to choose from these days. Think of the impact Sire basses would have had on Squier & Fender MiM bass sales for example. Also, I'm pretty convinced that neither of those 'premium' brands actually carry as much prestige as they used to for players either, & haven't done for many years. There's many of us BC's for example that happily gig without say Fender on our headstocks. That might not have been the case as much 20 - 30 years ago.
  11. How cool is that!! I've not seen one without the lettering on the headstock before, but presumably that's got something to do with it being one of the very first of the range as your letter states. Whatever, a lovely piece of bass history you've got there.
  12. OCD not relieved.🙄 The total bellend insists it's an Elwood Jake... This despite me pointing them to the PP website & the fact they have an instrument certificate clearly saying the model is a Jake..... 🤔 Potentially a very nice bass, but I for one will be avoiding that seller like the plague!
  13. It was no good - I couldn't take it any more! Messaged the seller to say it is a Jake. OCD relieved!! 😆
  14. Lovely basses. I do like an ash body with nice grain & stain. Dual truss rod on the blue one is a nice feature too. Welcome to BC by the way!
  15. Ooh, a bass brand with my surname!! Will check it out!!

    Maruszczyk's

Nice Elwood & with a Westone Thunder 1A in the background? We clearly have the same bass tastes!!
  17. Indeed they are. Just a heads up that there is a Maruszczyk section in the Gear Porn forum too!
  18. Look at the neck grain on that!! Very cool.

    Ash or Alder

For me, it would depend on the body finish as I'm not convinced there's much tone difference between the two. If I was having an opaque finish i'd probably go alder. If I was having a transparent finish, I'd go either ash or alder with an interesting top wood. Either way, I'd match the headstock.
  20. No chance. Has indeed changed the price but still got it listed as an Elwood not a Jake.......f***wit!!
  21. Now up for £1295 from it's original listing of £950...!?! Also listed as an Elwood, not a Jake.... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132489472497 Methinks seller is a bellend!
