  1. Looks like they did a P bass too! https://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/product/fender_ltd_ed_and_58_p_bass_roasted_ash_natural/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIycWe25mK2QIVDT4bCh3Acw9aEAQYBSABEgLHnPD_BwE
  2. I've not yet listened to the podcast & this might be a complete donut of a question, but why is the process (& therefore benefits) not enhanced further to include 'roasting' the body too?
  3. I'm looking forward to the NBD posts! 😄
  4. Singlecut basses seem to be taking the biggest battering so far.....!
  5. Dunno. I did say in theory 🤔😆
  6. Interesting. I thought it was just a looks thing, but in theory, it's more than just that. I've now got the urge to buy some bacon & pancakes! 😆
  7. No longer on eBay - wonder if someone on here bought it?
  8. Hmmmm, interesting initial responses to date. After scanning through those, the early front runners on what we dislike appear to be (in no particular order);- 1) Single cut basses 2) Basses with exotic wood tops (eek - I've got one of those!) 3) Basses with pointy shaped bodies 4) Rickenbackers....
  9. I would imagine so too, but it would be interesting to see if anything trends (& no, I don't work in product development for a manufacturer! 😆)
  10. For me, I've never seen a Warwick or Spector body shape that I've liked, particularly some of the Warwick shapes like the Dolphin & Thumb. They look so fugly to me. As far as finishes are concerned, I switch off when I see a 3TSB body together with a rosewood board. I had a Fender Deluxe like that not so long ago & the aesthetics was one of the reasons I got rid. Looks a bit old hat now, but not in a good way. Now I appreciate these things are very much to personal tastes, but what turns you off a bass just by looking at it? (ps; don't get me started on artificial relicing!! 😡😆)
  11. Good score! Saw that one up for sale - a beautiful looking bass.
  12. Just spent a few idle minutes on the configurator..... Erm..... anyone got a spare couple of grand kicking about......??!?😆
  13. OMG - that is utterly, utterly hideous.......
  14. The BGM award winning bass - great price too. Is that about £400 less than Bass Direct were selling it for? The owner couldn't have had it long - makes you wonder if something's happened to it......?
  15. I had a 2014 Jazz Deluxe which had a small gap between the control plate & scratch plate (well done Fender QC - a bloomin' Deluxe model!!), so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. As mentioned above, the body holes spacing would be more of a concern. If it was me, I'd be having the neck off to look for identifying marks in the neck pocket & a date on the end of the neck, & be checking the underside of the pickups & scratchplate for further identification.
  16. I feel your caution. I just bought my Bass Collection for similar reasons. There's places where you'd be happy taking expensive basses, but taking those instruments to other places or events could put you on edge. If means allow, having a cheaper sh*t venue / rehearsal bass is a sensible idea. I was going to say Sims Custom shop as they can 3D scan your existing pickguard for an exact fit replacement. Thing is, mine cost £50 to do that which given the value of your bass........ 🤔😬
  17. Try this configurator instead? https://www.public-peace.de/custom-shop I would say it has more options which might help you drill down to precisely what you want.
  18. Useful comparison video. I'm massive Rush fan & used to own the MIJ model. Can't say I was that impressed to be honest. Tuners were poor, sharp fret ends & the pickups were lacking in the Geddy oomph too. I put Hipshot tuners on it, had the sharp fret ends filed down, put Entwistle pickups in & changed the capacitor - then it was the bass it should have been out of the box. Found the finish not to be too durable either mind. Recent review in BGM of the latest Mexican version was very positive though.
  19. I'm lovin' the Aria. If you score any Matsumoku made bass in excellent condition as you have, you really can't go wrong.
  20. Yeah, but only if you nearly double the price those two!! 😆
  21. See where you're coming from. However without the initial GAS, the question of the wherewithal would never come up! 😆 Glad I'm not alone. Trouble is, they are so distinctive they are difficult to sneak past the Mrs without her noticing. Not that I would ever condone that sort of behaviour obviously..... 😳🤥 Anyway, GAS frustration has subsided a little as said instrument is for sale used, & after a play on the configurator this morning, I have sussed that I can get a new virtually identical one for pretty much the same money if i wanted.
  22. Spotted another Maruszczyk I REALLY want. Haven't got the readies to buy it & equally really do not want to sell anything I've got. Gonna end up in someone else's hands ain't it - dammit!! GAS - a first world problem admittedly, but a very annoying one! ☹️
