  1. See that Bass Direct currently have a couple of used Elwoods for sale at £1100 & £1300……..
  2. Would suggest that one of these new would be circa £1500 (& that’s without the £100 case), so at almost half that price, this should be a great deal for a cracking bass. 🙂
  3. It very much is. If the other bass I’ve got my eye on sells, I’ll happily keep this one 🙂
  4. Try the EQ changes with the plectrum then first. If that gets you the sound you want, then greenbacks saved!
  5. Alternatively if it’s a ‘clanky’ sound you’re after change this, because the ‘clank’ won’t be coming from the bass end of the frequency spectrum. Try this - reduce the bass boost, significantly increase the low mids, & add treble to flavour. If you’re not already, playing with a plectrum & flatwound strings might help too.
  6. Still not quite following the logic of the mod. You can boost bass & mids on the bass, but also cut the treble by up to 15db’s so there’s a ton of adjustment at your finger tips. By so say boosting the output on the pre-amp overall, you’re just moving the adjustment of the input gain from one place to another. It will clip sooner with that mod, so you’ll be turning your main input gain control down to compensate which is self defeating. You’ve got a signal chain with lots of knobs on - if you can’t get the tone you want, I’d be looking at that if it were me.
  7. I may be missing something here, but he’s saying the tone is thin at the centre point of the pre amp, & that the mod adds 6 DB’s to the output. But doesn’t each of the three tone controls boost by something like 15 to 20DB’s? Wouldn’t the 1 second ‘mod’ be to actually use the tone knobs then? 🤔
  8. Thought I was done buying basses, but something on here has caught my eye. This is only up for sale whilst that one is available. I’ve had this bass since new. In excellent condition - only light surface hard to see scratches. Lovely playable neck which is more a C profile even though on a Jazz body. Delano pickups & 2 band preamp. Comes with the more robust Maruszczyk branded GBBS nylon gigbag, & a Maruszczyk leather strap. Has Schaller straplocks fitted. No postage. Collection or will meet up to an hour away from Swindon.
  9. It is indeed a 2600. Intriguingly both those basses have inherently different core tones. The 2405 has a very dark tone, whilst the 2600 is naturally very bright. There is the same pre-amp in each, but that is flexible enough that I can get ‘my’ sound easily out of each instrument no problem.
  10. Having used the BTB all of my last gig, took out both SR’s this afternoon. So light & easy to play, as well as sounding fantastic!
  11. Both five strings were out on festival duty recently. Used the BTB all set, but only because the strings on the 2405 were a bit tired (now changed!).
  12. Latest incarnation - fairly simple, but high quality. Hugely impressed with Genzler gear.
  13. This is advertised elsewhere but I really do need to start freeing up some space, so for now the price is reduced only on Basschat to £95 collected. That is circa 30% the price of a new one, so a total bargain. Get yourself a very effective monitor (or even a practice amp) for not much money!!
  14. Listening to Geddy’s playing was the main reason I started playing bass ooh, 42 odd years ago. All this time later I still get the same enjoyment listening to his bass lines. The band had such a long career, there’s so much variety to what he played. The fact he was singing whilst playing some of those lines is astonishing. Not one to hang on to a certain period of Rush’s music (I admire the way they didn’t stand still musically), I actually think their last album Clockwork Angels was their best. Have a listen to the following bass parts (a very small selection) if you don’t know them:- Twighlight Zone, Vital Signs, Digital Man, Big Money, Malignant Narcissism. Chris Squire was another of my favourites, but I’m not a Prog fanboy as Derek Forbes (early Simple Minds) & John Taylor (Duran Duran obviously) are others!! Music is highly subjective (as are thoughts on musicians) which is kind of one of the great things about it all. 🙂

  16. Be patient! Your ad hasn’t been up for anytime at all!! From what I can see this gear was about £2300 ish new? IMO I’d say your original price was fine, but your price drop makes it a bargain. Can’t comment on the Blacksmith, but I own the same cab model and it’s stunning. Unless mine gets damaged, can’t see me ever changing it. It’s just about a 1 person lift too, despite being a 212. Looks a quality rig at a very decent price to me.
  17. Chris bought a Zoom recorder from me. Great communications & a quick & straightforward transaction. He picked the item up from me & is a very pleasant fella. 👍🏻
  18. Carl just bought my Bass Fly Rig. Super straightforward transaction, with swift payment & great comms. Would deal with again for sure. 🙂
  19. Well regarded portable recording device. I used it at band rehearsals for a project where we were messing around with arrangements a lot, but that ended so no current need. Worked incredibly well in capturing a live sound including nice clear bass. Comes with a few accessories as pictured. Collection from Swindon, or can post at the additional cost of that.
  20. Superb DI box containing a sans amp & so much more! Great example in excellent condition. Price includes UK signed for postage.
  21. They are indeed - very useful in so many ways. The ability to program up to 5 note chords per pedal (via the downloadable software) is one of the things that sets it apart.
