**Stunning Maruszczyk Elwood 5a" SOLD PENDING PAYMENT
Wilco replied to Risk101's topic in Basses For Sale

I had an LH500 head with a Hydrive 410 cab for about 5 years. Sounded great & never let me down once. Only moved them on for the lighter rig I've got now.

Is there another Bass Selling Market better than BassChat.?
Wilco replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
I have to say that selling on a couple of bass specific sales groups on Facebook has yielded quicker results for me than BC. The same with eBay, but of course the cost is the downside there. Selling on those FB groups with collection only (or a close to home meet up) has worked well tbh & totally free. The ability to post on those directly with hi-res photo's I reckon helps too, together with ease of access as most people go on FB via their mobiles. I understand the reason why, but the compressed photo's on here just don't look as good & clicking onto say a Photobucket link or similar can quite often be a ballache. Saying that, stuff does sell on here & I probably look at the Marketplace every day (whilst wishing I was wealthier!). BC's Marketplace is still definitely a valid place to advertise bass gear but regrettably, I'm not convinced it's the best option anymore. -
I was toying with the idea of buying a used lightweight Markbass 1x12 cab from BD recently. I phoned the shop & to enquire if it was still available & Mark answered the phone. The cab was still for sale. When Mark learned I was thinking of using the Markbass to replace my Berg, he pretty much said don't do it. The Markbass is indeed a great cab he said - in car parlance, a 'Mercedes', but I already owned a 'Rolls Royce' so why change? Great advice given at the cost of a sale - can't say fairer than that can you?

I know this thread has a crazy amount of posts, but I couldn't find a specific Maruszczyk thread in the gear porn forum so I started one. With the variation you can get these instruments in, hopefully it should be an interesting gallery!!
-
Can't believe there's no gear porn thread for Adrian's marvellous creations - now corrected! I bought my Elwood 5a off of BC earlier this year. Was so impressed, I immediately bought a burgundy leather strap & the logo'd GBBS gigbag from the Maruszczyk website to go with it! Mine has got Bartolini US 59J pickups on it which were not the original pups. These cost £155 at Bassdirect, so you'd expect a decent sound - the bass sounds epic so no complaints there. The pre-amp is a Delano Sonar 2. With those high quality electronics, a nice light, tactile body & just the nicest neck you'd ever want to play, this one's a keeper I reckon!!

I'm not in the market for a new bass, but I've had a five string one of these & they are great. Excellent tones as the OP says, build quality & playability are great too. These look a bit lightweight in construction, but the reality is they are built like a tank. If you are a player that suffers from playing a heavy bass, these are perfect too. Not because of weight - mine was nearly 9lbs so they actually weigh as much as a traditional style bass. The on strap balance is perfect though, which is why there is virtually no pressure on your shoulder & therefore back when strapped on. GLWTS

Hi Freddie, Did you make any changes in the end & if so, what was the outcome?
how do you know it's Matsumoku? not doubting you but I've got a Hondo from the same period, the body's a different shape but the bridge etc look the same, I've always wondered whether it's a Matsumoku
All Vantage basses were manufactured by Matsumoku. I don't believe Hondo's were though.

Are they both standard V7's? One's not a Vintage V7 is it?
What sort of gear would I use to trigger the pre sets?
KMI 12 Step? https://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/12-step/
Hey thanks for that. He's pretty amazing isn't he? I've just paid a visit to Spotify to revisit some of Rush's greatest hits. Which is your favourite album of theirs?
Well I'm a child of the 80's so a big fan of Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Hold Your Fire & especially Power Windows. Saying that, now I think my favourite is Clockwork Angels. If that does prove to be their last album, they went out on an absolute high IMO.

I think I'd add yet another choice from Geddy. https://youtu.be/_WsD2P21bx4

***SOLD***Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass 2012
Wilco replied to bassface2k10's topic in Basses For Sale
£150 price drop??? You must have more money than you let on if you can afford to do that.
There's probably a little jest in your comment but to be fair, I'd suggest probably a realisation that the original price was a smidge high. At £950 that is bang on market price IMHO. As you can see from my sig, I have one of these (which I'm not selling anytime soon!) & these truly are fantastic basses. Light, extremely playable & sound immense. Amazes me when I see standard used US Jazzes going for around £800 & for not much more dough you can have one of these far superior instruments. Whoever buys this, if it's anything like mine, they will be a very happy bassist indeed! -
needing a 5 string bass again, Sterling Sub or Ray 35?
Wilco replied to Ian Davies's topic in Bass Guitars
I was thinking of off loading my Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage 5 string complete with Sire gigbag. Has an 18mm string spacing & would come in at under half your budget! PM me if interested. Cheers, Wilco -
Is it me? I'm finding The Foo Fighters boring!!!
Wilco replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I enjoyed watching their set. Thought the TV coverage was a bit 'the Dave & Taylor' show mind. (well, apart from the accordion solo! Lol) -
Giving the EWS pedal an 18v power supply could help mate. The Fender has an 18v pre amp - is the Spector 9v? My Maruszczyk has a 9v circuit which is great in isolation, but seems a little lightweight vs my Jazz Deluxe.

Welcome from a fellow Moonraker.

Just stumbled across this. Nice. https://youtu.be/CW9TA1pXrSg
Beautiful looking bass and its hypnotic framed by the AstroTurf and furry case lining. If only I had the money!
Not wishing to derail my own post, I can highly recommend putting down a decent artificial lawn at home. No mowing = more bass time!! Lol (& yes, it is a lovely looking bass too)

For fun just configured a 'Geddy' bass followed by a 'Jaco' alike. Then did a 'what would my ideal bass now be?' & got depressed as it came out at €1910........ Like Fisheth's post above, now thinking what to put up for sale........
Oh goody, this old chestnut again.
Thanks for the sarcastically 'positive' post which is a little bit disappointing coming from a moderator...... Clearly there's only a certain amount of things that can be discussed about bass guitars, & of course there will be duplication & no doubt this has been discussed before (but not that I could see recently). This post was deliberately started to be lighthearted for some good old forum jovial banter, which I know from experience some Bass chatters are very, very good at (better than me) & can make for some entertaining reads!

So, as bassists we like the low notes right? A low B makes sense then - we like that. Luvverly low frequencies. A fiver also adds some flexibility with playing positions on the neck. So 5 string basses then, spot on & make sense yes? On that basis why bother with a four string bass, when a five has the same strings but allows you to do more? Four's seem to be so last year..... Six (& more) string basses tend to have higher strings than a G. What's the point in that for a bass? We're bassists right & we want to be driving the rhythm section along at the deep end, not fannying about at frequencies where guitarists twat around in! In case you missed it this post is a little bit facetious, but grenade lobbed anyway......! :-)

I've got three at the moment, had more but would consider two the minimum so that I've got a back up at a gig if required. That's probably irrational but I have a risk adverse mentality!!
