1. I had one of these for a while - it was a great bass, with excellent tone. I'm not in the market for another bass at the moment, but glwts.
2.
The squire jazz is upgraded, but need a second bass, tempted with a sire,I've had in past, great value
This. For your budget (actually for a lot more than your budget!), you're unlikely to do any better. Especially if you had one before & liked it.
3. Geddy Lee Chris Squire Bernard Edwards Derek Forbes & John Taylor or Pete Trewavas or Stuart Zender or Mark King Just choosing 5 is sooo hard! Lol
4. I recently bought Freddie75's V7 5 string & am extremely happy with it. Great build, easy playability & I am loving the sound. Unbelievable bass for the money. Squier & MiM Jazz's are now irrelevant aren't they.....?!?
5. Looks pukka to me. Apart from everything else, the bridge & the pups look definitely 80's Aria. I'd go with it being an SB Elite 2.
6.
@Wilco. Hmmmm - 8Lbs is perhaps still a little heavier than I'm looking for. Quite surprising, given that it has a carbon neck.
I weighed it a few weeks after I got it, & was surprised that it weighed the same as a P bass I had. They felt totally different weights when playing. I think it's down to the 'pull' over the left shoulder - with the Steinbergers light neck there's very little, which is why it felt so much lighter. Shame we weren't closer so you could try it out & see what I mean.
7. How about this? I've just bought a five string bass, so was going to list this for sale to pay for that. It's a 34 inch scale, very broad range of tones & would be within the budget you mention. Most importantly for you even though it's 8lbs, the balance is so good it feels as light as a feather on a strap!
8. I think I own that bass now. Took a little getting used to & a change of amp it helped the sound, but I agree with Anzoids comments above about the sound. The balance & weight are so good, my Jazz bass is now the one of the two the feels slightly uncomfortable on a strap, & I've been used to that one for 10 years! I'm more than happy with it to be honest, as it's very easy to play & has great tonal range. I don't think they are available new any more though, which if that's the case, would be a shame.
9. Downsize complete! If I leave the Geddy at home, ultra portable rig with a big sound. Taken me a while to dial in the Steiny, but cracked it this week. Just didn't realise how powerful the 18v circuit was as I've been playing passive's over the last few years!
10. Possible trade options;- Steinberger Synapse XS-15FPA (5 string - not interested in Spirit or Hohner versions) NS Design Radius WAV (4 or 5 string)
11.
That's a beauty - I like the single ply scratchplate, looks really cool
Thanks - the pictures don't really do it justice though. In current guise, at least as good as an American Standard I would say, but for a lot less money! Plays easily & sounds superb.
12. I bought this a year ago & did all the upgrades then. Condition wise is very good with a couple of small dings & a small patch of buckle rash which was on it when I bought it. Upgrades are;- Entwistle PBXN Neo pickups Babicz full contact bridge Hipshot HB7 tuners CTS 450 series premium pots Sprague 0.47 capacitor Switchcraft jack socket Tusq nut Solid black scratchplate (shielded) Fender logo'd neckplate Fender chrome straplocks Comes with all previous parts. I can put the original bridge &/or original tuners back on & retain those upgrades for a price reduction. Knock £50 off for either or £100 off for both. Honestly though, sounds immense as is! Collection from Swindon or can drive up to an hour away to do a handover
13. This cab is a one person lift for most people you know. Really easy to push around on it's casters too! For it's size, actually a quite easy to move around type bump. (unless of course you've now got a small car......)
14. Only a few months old so in excellent condition. Premium case. Collection from Swindon or meet if you're not too far away! It's one of these;- http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/cases/abs-molded-precision-bassjazz-bass-case-black/ I've run out of upload space to post pics, but can email a couple over.
Thats gorgeous,glwts
Thanks kevvo. I've added better pics now, but they still don't really do it justice. (if anyone was wondering, the upper strap arm/hook is actually metal & very solid!)
16. Now my new (used) car has arrived, I've worked out that my two Fenders will actually fit across the small back seat in gig bags but not the hardcases I currently have. This bass was bought in advance of the car arriving, but turns out no longer required as the Fenders will squeeze in. I've only had it a short time, but what a great bass! If I didn't have to balance the books on my new amp rig, it would definitely be a keeper. Spec as follows;- Cybrosonic Technology featuring an integrated graphite U-channel combined with a three-piece hard maple neck Maple wings Phenolic fingerboard Flamed maple top Trans finish EMG USA humbucker Piezo bridge Ebony saddle Direct-drive double-ball bridge Fold-down leg rest Recessed tool holder Recessed output jack Strap hook Combo headpiece Zero fret 34" scale Takes single- or double-ball strings (nb; new Picato strings fitted) 18v active circuit so powerful, very easy to play & extremely comfortable on the shoulder. It's far more meaty in build than it looks - chunky & weighs in at 8.8lbs. It's basically in as new / mint condition & comes with a Steinberger gig bag which is good quality too. Amber finish with the flame maple top with the black hardware looks superb. Loads of tonal options due to pup/piezo blend control plus the active +/- bass/treble More pics available on request. Collection or meet an hour or so from Swindon. Postage at cost. 17. Still for sale. Probably best a collection or meet up job. (Courier would be about £50 - £60) Super cab - with 1/4inch & Speakon inputs + 1000 watts handling, should be easy to partner up with any amp head.
18.
Hi there , would you be able to post this cab ?
Hi. The cab weights 70lbs so would assume postage would be quite pricey? Not sure - I'll check. Whereabouts are you located?
19. Bought a Bergantino cab off Jon. Brilliantly easy transaction - cab was spot on & delivery super quick. Deal with total confidence folks & thanks Jon. Wilco.
20. Very sad to be putting this great bass up for sale, but my kit downsize for physical & change of car reasons continues. I've owned it from new & have made a number of changes to the original either for upgrade, performance or aesthetic reasons. Condition wise is very good for a 10 year old bass - a couple of really small dings, very light scuff near jack socket (not coming up on pics but this is visible), small amount of light buckle rash & a few hard to see surface scratches. Things I've changed:- The tuners & capacitor were the only weak points on these basses so:- Tuners replaced with high quality Hipshot HB2'S Capacitor replaced with a Sprague For performance reasons changed the pickups - the original ones sound fine, but are a little polite for Geddy's sound (they are included in the sale however). Those have been replaced by Entwistle JBXN's which are Neo pickups that have a much hotter output. Much more Geddy! For visual & practical reasons did the following:- Changed neckplate to one which has a Geddy hologram on - very cool! Fender strap locks fitted The scratchplate is original - the amalgam symbol is a vinyl sticker Note this is a very solid instrument - my bathroom scales are reading 9.4lbs. Collection from Swindon or will meet up for a handover up to an hours drive away from there. Post option available at whatever it costs(circa additional £20?). However I've nothing to post it in so if postage is required, the bass will be sold with a case. Two choices which are either a used Thomann hardcase (With large white Fender vinyl logos added) for an additional £25, or an official hardly used Fender Moulded ABS hardcase at £80. Will not post without one of these two cases included in the purchase, but they are an option on collection or handover. Looks fantastic, great tone & plays superbly - will be sorry to see it go but needs must. 21. 10/4/16 - now £295 I've owned this cab from new - a few surface scuffs but very clean otherwise. I'm downsizing my car by loads, & although this will fit in the new one, it won't leave much space for anything else! Need to reduce cab size accordingly. Comes with (non branded) black vinyl cover. Spec:- •Four 10" HyDrive paper/aluminium hybrid cone drivers •Neodymium magnets •1,000 watts power handling •8-ohm cabinet impedance •1" titanium compression driver •High frequency attenuation switch (On,-6dB, Off) •Parallel Twist and Lock and 1/4" inputs •30Hz–17kHz frequency response •Solid plywood cabinet construction •Dual-chamber sealed cabinet design •Perforated steel grill •Inset carry handles •Removable casters included Basically a whole lot of cab for the money! Collection from Swindon, although prepared to travel an hour or so at no cost to meet up Wilco
