2. Do these little things pick up bass ok if positioned in the right spot in a rehearsal room? Any advice on devices that work well in the above context much appreciated. Looking to get one that doesn't cost the earth!
3. Useful bit of kit for learning songs. No box or manual. £45 UK posted
4. Had mine for about 5 years now. Changed the valve for a Genalex Gold Lion one from Hot Rox straight after purchase, & have never considered changing the amp since. Love the solid build, great volume, superb tones, & the simple control layout really makes you wonder what's the point of many EQ sliders!! Enjoy.
5. Nice one sixist - thanks for that. Top job.
6. Anyone got a good tab of this? It's the bit after the repeating 'A' part that I'm struggling with - the bass guitar part is lost in the mix below some heavy bass pedals, but it sounds like Mr Trewavas is noodling around in the background. Thanks.
7. Top replies - thanks guys. I know what I need now & some useful posts for other people too - bonus. Right, now just need to raise the cash.......
8.
Minitaur/McMillen 12 Step/McMillen midi interface. I use a laptop for patch selection though you can do it via the Minitaur's controls. And of course some chunky boxes to make it loud.
Thanks for your reply. I probably only need a couple of sounds out of it, so patch selection shouldn't be an issue. On that basis & if I read your post correctly, all I need then is the 12 step & the minitaur, & plug the Minitaur into the PA?
9. Anyone use one of these in a live band situation? If so, what's your complete set up to make it work? Thanks.
10. I've got D'Addario Chromes on mine & more than happy with those. Tried DR flatwounds a on a previous bass & they were good too.
11. In does indeed sound most excellent! Mind control successfully defended - this one's staying with me! Lol TBH, it's become a bit of a labour of love. I've done a lot of work on the frets too, both levelling & rounding the ends - the action & playability is really very nice as a result. I'm sure you'll find something suitable soon enough.
12. My answer to the same conundrum was to buy a used black/maple Mex P bass & mod it. It is more of a RW vibe than out & out copy, but I'm pleased with it. Came in at around the budget you mention, but of course you have to find the initial instrument for sale first! The link in my sig takes you to a list of the parts I used, which were easily obtainable.
13. Very nice bass & nicely photographed. That one looks like a keeper. Have a great NBD!
14. I've recently purchased my first acoustic bass, & am liking the 'pick up & play' aspect of it I must say. Absolutely no good for my current band project, but finding it very useful to have around the home.
15. Entwistle JBXN pickups - neo magnets in those. Put them in my Geddy & yes, definitely more lively! Won't break the Bank either.
16.

This post alone was worth refreshing this thread! Nice collection.
17. Ok, mine is a 2009 model but when I got it & it was stock, it was a country mile away from the 2012 U.S. P I sold in January in both sound & playability. With a few mods & some fettling, it's there now mind. Fenders model range is vast & obviously I've not tried them all, but i've played & owned quite a few over the years. From what I've seen, the generally accepted Fender hierarchy of US / Jap / MiM / Squier rings true. I'll own up to being a Fender fan boy though & think that at their various price points, their models stack up very well!
18. Despite me no longer having my Aria's, I still think Matsumoku basses are brilliant. Therefore a bump for my original thread - would be interesting to see what instruments fellow BC'ers might have added to their collection since the last post two years ago!
19. I've searched & can't see a thread for this instrument type - please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, recently acquired this lovely Breedlove BJ350/CMe4 fretless with a fantastic case from haimsey of this very parish. Having great fun with it - wanted to have another bass that was very different to my existing instruments, which this is being both acoustic & fretless. It's great just being able to pick it up & immediately play without plugging in. It sounds really nice either plugged (L R Baggs pre-amp) or unplugged though. A very worthwhile addition to my very modest collection!
20. Further price drop bump as noted in amended original post above. If you can get to or close to Swindon, now a genuine bargain!!
21. DR Sunbeams. I've got a set that are just over two years old on my heavily used Geddy Lee, & I'm only now thinking they need changing. Nicklewound too, so kind to your frets!
22. Pleased to see that the DVD double boxset is included. It would have been a rip off if that was missing......
