1. Thought the MiM & the US 98 sounded virtually identical - really nothing noticeable in it & no difference you would hear in a band context. The MiJ sounded a little 'muted' to me. Hands down winner was the Ash bodied / maple necked 77 - superb. Excellent video btw.
2.
Price is very much negotiable.
Asking price seems perfectly reasonable to me. But as I own Silver Series, I know how flaming good they are!! If you're a Fender player, the perfect backup instrument. If you want US Fender tone but haven't got the greenbacks - well, here's your answer. GLWTS
3.
I've had a few active basses in my time but none of them lasted that long. Simplicity is the spice of life
+1 to this.

Just purchased Freddie's Highway One Jazz Bass. As above very friendly & pleasant guy to deal with - transact with confidence. Nice one Freddie.
5. Oh my, that is so, so nice. Unfortunately I'm little short of available funds to buy it - around £2249 short......... However have a bump on me as somebody far richer than me must want this amazing bass surely!?! I mean, just look at it (sigh...)
6. From what I was able to ascertain during research before I bought mine, the Silver Series bodies are either Basswood or Woodfibre (not plywood - more mdf). The wood fibre bodies were very heavy so had additional routing under the pickguard, so lifting that should identify it. If under the pickguard things look 'normal' then Basswood. If more routing than normal, Woodfibre. The good news is the excellent reputation these instruments have is derived from both. It doesn't matter which of the two materials the body is made from - they both sound equally as good apparently!!
7. In the past I used their Europower power amp with a rack mounted v-amp pro & had no issues with that set up at all. Currently using a B115D as a stage monitor & it sounds great - more than happy.
8. I had a 2000 model Mexican Jazz which turned out to be more than a bit rubbish - very flat sounding & no depth of tone. Very happy with all three basses noted in my signature though, & they are from varying parts & eras of the Fender range. As mentioned above & as I think you've already concluded, you need to go out & try some - both new & used in your price bracket. One will feel & sound best to you, and that's what really counts regardless of what's written on the headstock!
9. If it's anything like mine, an awesome sounding bass for the money! GLWTS
10. I'm liking that - luvverly looking bass. GLWTS.
11. There are always some really nice looking instruments on Bass Direct's website, which is what makes that complete turkey stand out even more!! I'm sorry, but that is truly horrible........
12. The Jap Silver Series Squiers have got to be one of the best bargains around today if you can find one. You get the Japanese quality of work & materials all for today's Squier prices! I doubt this advertised bass ( ok, a JV not SS) plays or sounds better than the Squier Jazz I've just bought for £500 less! I used to own a new Squier VM Jazz a couple of years ago. Quite honestly, that felt like a 'toy' bass in comparison to my Jap Squier. The hardware was very cheap & the tone was lacking too. Comparing these two, the 20 year old bass is superior by loads.
13. This is really rather nice. Shame I am devoid of the necessary funds ..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141274997138
I checked a then catalogue. You were right, and the body was basswood. Thank you very much for your advice. This is a very cool bass.
Sure it's Basswood & not 'wood fibre'? I've just got a Silver Series Jazz & that has got a basswood body. In my research before buying that, I read in a few places that some of the Silver Series bodies were made out of wood fibre. These were very heavy apparently, so had some extra body work routing to lighten them up a bit. Just looking at the pictures, I wondered if that was the case on this one? Either way, the reputation of both is excellent & for what I paid for mine, I'm more than happy!
15. My P bass is the first one I've ever owned & it turned out to be one of the best passive 4 stringers I've ever seen & played. Saying that, love my Jazz's too!! As above I'd say have both. Hasn't it been said that once you have a P & a J, do you need anything else? Works for me! :-)

Jazz

NBD (well new to me anyway!). '93/94 Squier Silver Series Jazz. Made in Japan at Fujigen. Bought as a back up to whichever one of my other two I take to a gig. Was thinking of modding it, but to be honest, there's no need (other than straplocks). Plays very nicely & is thunderous! Some dings & dents, but bought for a purpose & it's absolutely ideal for that.
17. 217700 dated August 1982 (virtually mint). Obviously a Jap model.
18. Bought a Mooer Octave pedal from Simon. Spot on transaction from beginning to end & pedal extremely well packaged. Transact with confidence - no worries at all.
19. Bought Ryan's Corona chorus pedal. Excellent transaction throughout. Pedal was totally as described & a fair price. Ryan had clearly taken the trouble to do the packaging well, and there was great communication from beginning to end. As mirrored in all previous feedback, Ryan is a top bloke to deal with on the Basschat marketplace.
20.
I have Mono straps on all my basses... can't get on with leather.
+1 to this - excellent straps; comfortable, strong & look great. Got mine from Bass Direct. http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mono_STRAPPS.html
21. 30+ year Rush fan here (fave band). Clockwork Angels is now probably my favourite Rush album. Closely followed by Signals, Power Windows, 2112 & of course Moving Pictures. Test for Echo is their weakest output IMO. As stated previously, if you're in any way a Rush, you tend to have a favourite Rush era. Have no idea why I don't & why the albums I really like are spread across decades.......

Can somebody put me out of my misery & buy this please. I have the maple fingerboard version & love it to bits - very light & comfortable to play, sounds awesome & absolutely looks the mutts... This would partner mine very nicely, but I do not have the available cash to buy it. I want it but can't afford it & that makes me sad. If somebody bought it, then it would no longer be available & that would help...! :-)
23. I bought an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe from Jonathan. Went to pick it up from him & he was decent enough to let me have a go on it before handing over the cash - which I duly did as the pedal was great & as described. Pleasant bloke & an excellent transaction as far as I was concerned.
24. Just seen reply - am I too late? Was going to offer to pick it up tomorrow as I'm around that way.....?
25. Are you anywhere near Chandlers Ford?
