1. Thanks for the bump Eric. Both have great & flexible tones, are built like tanks, are quite light & have very, very silky, playable necks! Can't see that anyone would be disappointed for the money of they brought these. Stupidly forgot to mention that both have very little fret wear and for a lot of their lives have been boxed away. The Special under a friends bed for 14 years & the RSB in its case for nearly 20! Some more pics of the RSB:- [IM (the pics have made the bass look bright white - it's actually more of a vintage creamy colour in reality)
2. Here they are in situ. They look in virtually as new condition as you can see.
3. GAS is a bloody awful thing sometimes..... I've thought hard about putting these up for sale as I am very happy with them, like their 80's vibe & have always been a fan of Matsumoku products. However, I've seen a couple of other basses for sale that have really caught my attention & cost a lot more money. I therefore need to sell both these to help pay for one (yes, one....!) of those. If only I was more wealthy..... My first bass for sale is a 1983 black Aria Pro 2 SB Special 2. It's got some dings on but is still in great condition for its age - £[s]250[/s] £225 including postage for this one. The second is a 1985 RSB Deluxe which is in really excellent condition. More of a vintage white colour now - £350 for this one. Both instruments come with cases which also date back to the 80's so have some scuffs on.
4. Price includes postage , original packaging & new screws / spacers. Currently attached to my MIM Jazz V! Cheers, Wilco.
5. Let's keep the legend alive!! Excellent basses & surely the best bang for your buck available today no matter what brand. I have two Aria SB's - a 1985 RSB Deluxe & a 1983 SB Special 2. Just got the RSB and the Special 2 has been a regular gigging bass for me despite it's 30 year age!
6. Dunno if this is of use to any Pro 2 fans, but just spotted on Ebay an Aria Pro 2 SB Special 2 which looks in good nick. It's like mine (but very definitely not mine!!). I'd buy it but there's not much point in having two the same & I've just purchased an RSB Deluxe. It's probably against forum rules to post a link to the auction, but as these don't come up often thought I'd make people aware! As I type, 1 day of left on auction. Public service broadcast over!!
7. Bass all the way for me. As a 12 - 13 year old I was massively influenced by Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Derek Forbes & Adam Clayton & just wanted to play bass. Saved up my paper round money to buy my first one - a no brand plywood piece of sh*te. I didn't care at the time - I was just so pleased I had a bass. Over the many (many!) years that have passed since then, I have dabbled with electric & acoustic 6 string guitars but they just don't give me the same buzz that listening to & playing a bass does. From as long ago as I can remember, when I listen to music, my brain & ears have always been focused on the low end. The fantastic gear that can be bought these days for a very reasonable money (both new & used) just blows my mind & adds to my bass playing experience. So does all the options of 5, 6 (or more!) stringers, fretless, slap playing, active or passive, double bass etc etc... It's a very interesting topic & question. I think though I would start one with "Why the hell would you want to play guitar when you could play bass?" !!
8. A new month bump. This is virtually half price of a posted new one, it works very well & is in great condition. What's not to love?
9. A 'how many tone control options do you want?' type bump.
10. In excellent condition & full working order. Boxed with manual.
11. I bought Tony's Markbass Superbooster pedal. Fair price, excellent communication & super quick delivery. Really pleased with the pedal which was in virtually new condition. Would buy from again, no problem.
12. Did i really put this up for sale? Have been playing it today & decided that it's just too good to go!!
13.
MB1. Great Bass I own an identical one which strangely has just fell off the wall still in the Hercules wall holder! ....after hanging many years Strange? BUMP! .....Indeed!
Thanks for that comment. Indeed it is a great bass that was a keeper until a sudden attack of GAS!!! Sorry to hear yours fell of the wall - hope it survived unscathed.
14. Superb example of this rare bass. Made in 1983 at the famous Matsumoku factory in Japan. Also known as an SB 55 model. Ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. Two double coil pickups, two dual concentric volume/tone controls, two 'dual sound' switches & a pickup selector, bone nut. Really nice neck grain. For a nearly 30 year old bass it is in excellent condition. Obviously it's got a few minor bumps & dings, but nothing major (just cool relicing!!). The two worst dings are both only about 1cm by 1/2 cm. One on the bottom of the body (a few minor scratches) & the other on the top of body (a heavier ding but not deep enough to show the wood). One excellent thing about this bass is that I bought it from a good friend of mine who had it sat under his bed for about 10 years. Because of this & the fact I use nickelwound strings, despite it's age there is hardly any fret wear at all. When I first got it, one pick up had failed & my local guitar shop sent that away to be fixed by Kent Armstrong, & the whole thing works fantastically well now. Sale includes a case that is probably as old as the bass, but I don't think it's an Aria case. It is in reasonable condition & feels quite solid! Selling to buy another bass I've just spotted on here! Would rather bass was collected or delivered by a meet up. I live in Swindon. £400
15. I've just bought & sold a Badass V bridge as i didn't realise the string spacing on the MIM V Jazz was 18mm compared to the MIA Jazz V which is 19mm. The Badass was designed for the MIA one & the saddles were too far apart for my bass. I'd be interested to know if anyone has successfully put a high mass bridge onto a MIM Jazz V & if so, the make & brand etc. Thanks in advance. Wilco.
16. I've only just bought this via Ebay & gutted to be selling it already. I bought it to fit my MIM jazz, but did not realise that the string spacing on the MIM Jazz V differs from the MIA version, so the saddles are too wide apart for my bass. Really is a nice & solid piece though. I'm selling it for what i paid for it despite the hours I've spent lovingly cleaning it up!! £55 in postage
17. I've had this from new - i think it cost me around £50. In excellent condition, works very well. Will not post this due to it's awkward shape, so looking for collection or a meet up not to far away from Swindon. £25 buys it. Cheers, Wilco
18.
Well my GAS is going very well so far this year. I have the EBS Reidmar which sounds amazing. I have the EBS Classic 112 which also sounds amazing. However, I now have GAS for the following, A Fender Japan Jazz 66B in white with matching headstock, blocks and binding. Yummy.
I came into this year in a totally GAS free state (curry's aside....) & then you go & post this pic of gratuitous gear porn. Oh man.........
