Gibson Les Paul Special with Bartolini pickups & electronics
230 views and not a single comment... this means bad news for my friend. Is there anything wrong with this bass ? Is requested price too high (I haven't the slightest clue, never dealt with Gibson basses before) ? Comments are more than welcome, as usual. Thanks everybody.
I can imagine there is nothing wrong with the bass i had a quick look in this thread as i personally haven't seen a lot of Les Paul basses so i thought i'd take a quick look! Good luck with the sale though! -
I like the look of the Sansamp pedals myself. Danelectro pedals look cheap and nasty, usually, and I'm not a fan of EHX big box pedals, particularly the ones with the "electrocute yourself at home in 2 easy steps!" power adaptors. We need more effects like this: http://www.deviever.com/
+1 Awesome!

New sale price of £950. Still Considering Trades. If this doesn't sell here i think i'm sending this to the gallery for a fret job and refinished in all over white gloss! Hi All, [s] I'm not mad don't worry, but i do have the opportunity to buy a dream bass of mine and i need to let this beautiful girl go before i grow to attached to it and so my bank balance doesn't suddenly look scary after another big money drop.[/s] *Edit* I passed the other bass up but thought i would put this back up to see whats out there i can do a sale or will entertain trades, specifically looking for a fretted bass as the fretless is fun to play its not terribly practical for my live work and studio work. I bought this Warwick a few months ago from Germany from a private collector and its an incredible example, all original and for a 26 year old bass is as good a condition as you'd want to find. The model itself is an early Streamer Stage I NS Design, with the old Spector style headstock stamped number 196, it was handmade in approximately 1984 perhaps earlier, certainly manufactured before the Ned Steinberger and Spector legal battle where Warwick were made to print Licensed by Ned Steinberger and Spector on their control plates and Truss Rod covers. All hardware is original, featuring brass nut and brass bridge with gold control knobs. The body wings are Cherry Wood, and the neck through neck construction is a multi laminate of Wenge and either Cherry or Maple stringers, the blondness of the timber leads me to think its Maple as Cherry is naturally more Honey toned in appearance especially when its this age the finger board is Ebony and is unlined, the bass does feature side dots, the bass features an original EMG Circuit and EMG pickups. The bass is exceptionally thin and light, i can get an estimated weight if you need it, but it is half the size and weight of my stage II, its seriously light as a feather, please see the pic of the bass on its side to get what i mean. The bass will come with an original fitted flight case which is seriously heavy duty. The bass has no complications, neck is straight as an arrow, intonation all over the neck is superb and spot on, no crackle from the input or pots, and the Truss Rod works as you'd expect. A damn fine example and if my dream bass hadn't just appeared this wouldn't be going. Looking for £1150 Posted or trades. I can take any photos you'd like, and invite you to come try the bass, its currently with me in Portsmouth. Thanks.

Hopefully and with fingers crossed this situation will never happen to me. Sounds like you need to try radical new bands and new musical ventures and try not to give up on the instrument just yet even a master always has things to learn.
Another option would be to keep your old screen etc , and get a newer Mac Mini ,
A Mac Mini will not be powerful enough to use as a platform for recording music, Garageband especially the computer and memory usage by this program is substantial, the G5 Tower will be absolutely perfect for your needs, the iMac's are fine, but G5's were designed for Designers and Musicians and the processors will keep the machine alive and kicking when you need it most, I use a Mac Pro at work and if you had a spare £3000 i'd recommend my current work setup but as thats not the case i'm positive the G5 will do you proud, and you'll find the two hard drives a god send. At home for recording i use a Mac Book Pro and i use a Tascam US21L interface which is USB, zero latency only when using the Mac Book's Fast USB port *left hand side* if you plug it in the right hand side you experience a couple of milli second latency issues which will throw you off if you're monitoring through the software, but the Tascam has a direct input control so that does for Monitoring. VST's are widely available and very usuable most PC Cubase VST's will transfer across seamlessly as will your Cubase Projects, Logic is a fantastic audio recording and mastering solution though and should be looked in to, Apple also have their own VST style instrument plugins that they call AU's or Audio Units *just to be awkward* and these can be used in Garageband and Logic, I'm also very sure some clever coders have created a AU to VST and VST to AU software so they can be interchangable. Hope thats of some help, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

When i first got my Fretless and a couple of months back before i'd even recieved it i had booked it in for a fret dress at the Bass Gallery in London, but after just 1 practice with the Fretless i was sold on the sound and feel and the next day sacked off the appointment. I tend to use my fretless for my more funky numbers, i don't make it sound like an upright, i don't slide around on it, use vibratos, but what i do find is that the flatwounds and fretless neck give the bass a unique percussive ness which is great for my muted staccato style on some numbers think Me'Shell Ndegeocello style finger grooves, i do however adopt a different fretting position which has helped my hand technique on the fretted bass no end! You play more parallel and finger technique comes under real scrutiny as you have to push down on to the neck with more force to complete solid notes and jump between the notes with more aim and elegance i suppose, its a real technique refinement. There are a million merits for both instruments and i love playing them both, i'm going to do a comparrison between my two basses soon as people have asked me to give them sound clips so i can post them up on here and you can hear the subtle yet distinctly unique differences between the two.
oddly enough thats one of the few basses where I prefer the back of it to the front. The neckthroughs are lovely. Both are to be fair!
I agree with you on these two, the neck construction is flawless, the shaped heels in to the bodies from the necks is incredible they are so contoured, as a guy who works with wood everyday i'm amazed how much effort and time this work would have taken considering both are made from Wenge which is notoriously hard to work with and requires some serious tooling and labour, masterpieces.

I have learned alot of "the world has made me the man of my dreams" album by ear and just jamming along, but the bass playing on that album is so natural and so "Meshell" i wouldn't do it justice by tabbing it, after all she just recorded her self jamming for that album, but man the bass lines and songs are incredible and have such a great feel to them, along with Stu Zender she's my main inspiration, i'll give your tabs ago tonight!
Hi guys, as you've probably seen I'm trying to sell my Stingray at the moment. I originally just wanted to sell it locally as I've never shipped a bass (or anything else as big, just small parcels). I've realised it limits the amount of potential buyers and am now considering shipping the bass. Rather than spending a couple of hours checking out all possible options, I wanted to ask you guys who do you tend to use for shipping? Do you bring the bass to a depot? Do the shipping company comes and collect from home? What is a good/average price to pay? What companies do you recommend / not recommend? Please share your experience - I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in this! Thanks, Valere
www.interparcel.com Type in the weight and dimensions of the bass, pick a day for them to pick it up, and they do all the work. I have sent about 10 Guitars and Basses this way, all with no problems, if you print off your own shipping labels a bass will cost about £10 to ship next day with UPS. I'd definitely recommend it.
I'd agree with that - "Music of The Wind" is an absolute classic.
Music of the Mind... Itunes royally messed that one up and called it the wrong thing on their database! +1 to Brand New Heavies though! Andrew Levy lays some serious grooves down, but be prepared for terrible lyrics and general radio friendly cheesy ness.

I have enjoyed the opposite side of the coin at one gig where someone spoke to my band after a gig and said; "Theres one good thing about your band.... your bass player" However of course most of the time i'm ignored and not really comprehended by the average punter in the mix, worst of all is a sound guy who doesn't appreciate bass and thinks playing 4 open notes as a sound check is adaquete enough....
My latest acquisition... 86 - Stage I fretless. Many similarities with Ben's bass (Cherry body, Wenge neck, 1 piece bridge etc.) but Ben's bass is the original incarnation with the spade headstock (serial number on the headstock rear) and straight tuners as per the Spector NS basses; whereas mine is subtly different as the headstock shape changed (to avoid the litigation with Spector) and the serial number is stamped top of the headstock with the usual letter prefix/number/year but they hadn't yet moved to the angled tuners or the 2 piece bridge.
Stunning bass mate! i don't know how you're getting on with yours but mine is superb, i had booked it in to the bass gallery to have it fretted before it had even arrived as i had never really played fretless basses, but since getting it i can't put it down and wouldn't consider getting the job done now! Mine also has the original EMG's but they're very worn, this bass has been played to death. PS: It was my very good friend Dom who bought your '90 Bartolini Humbucker Streamer from you! He's a happy chap! Is this where his money went?!
