Eric’s appearance in ‘The Last Waltz’ wasn’t startling I have to agree, although it’s not helped by his guitar strap coming loose ( just after 1 min in the video). You can see it doubled over from the beginning, so it was inevitable! He was also fighting his demons around this time - possibly off the heroin but replacing it with alcohol I think. Robbie did cover for him very well, but think EC managed to pull it back a bit before the end. Mind you, he counted it in fast so that didn’t help either...😄

Right, that’s the end of the line for me.

You just need to express yourself clearly....

This thread has gone so far OT I may have to tender my resignation....

Great film! As far as I can remember very accurate with the instruments and amps too. Tom Hanks is his usual brilliant self too, and a funny running gag about the band's name too - 'The Oneders'. Good performances from them all.

Sold Simon a GK combo. Great guy to deal with, prompt payment and good communications. Another great BC person!

Agree with you about EC ‘s voice, sadly underrated ( due to his guitar playing maybe?). And the other comment mentioned is not only out of order, but technically incorrect - poor Conor Clapton was actually 4 and a half years old when he fell to his death in a tragic accident from a New York high rise apartment.
-
Do you not think it would be ‘was a racist’? I also have no time for racist musicians, but the racist incident was over 40 years ago when EC was on a drug and booze fuelled downward spiral that nearly killed him. He has since spoken of how ashamed he is and apologised for his comments. This doesn’t condone his behaviour but does show how he realises how wrong it was. He speaks of this in the recent ‘Life in 12 Bars’ documentary.

I do exactly the same with my GK 1001RB. Use an SKB 3U to enable the fan to work at it’s best.

Hi James. You may get more interest if you can find out what speakers are in each cab. Looks like they are front loaded, so just undo the grilles, then the speaker bolts, and then lift the speakers out and take some pics. Info most people look for when buying cabs are speaker brand, wattage and ohms - this info can probably be found on the back of each speaker. GLWTS, cheers. -
Sansamp for me, with a Behringer BD121 Sansamp copy for a spare. Both will give you great amp tones and a good DI. Also worth a look is the Tech 21 VT Bass DI. More controls than the standard Sansamp. I know you said you were looking for TE tones, but they may be had from this versatile pedal despite having an obvious Ampeg slant.

Real-world gigging experiences post-COVID - how is it for you?

Sorry, I haven't got a source - it was forwarded on to me. Some more links here though - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53668563 https://inews.co.uk/culture/arts/coronavirus-latest-pantos-cancelled-uncertainty-theatres-reopening-england-572365 -
Same as me, seeing Chuck Berry with a red Gibson ES sealed my fate when I was about 14! Looked for a nice 335 for years, got a mid 60's sunburst one which was a) the wrong colour , and b) too slim in the neck department. Wish I still had it though, as 60's Gibson prices went crazy shortly after I sold it! Eventually got my red 335 Fat neck and love it. I did play a nice Eastman style 335 a while ago, and it was close to mine in all respects and a lot cheaper. Sunburst though, for me a Gibson 3 series looks best in red. Gibson did a great 58 dot reissue a couple of years ago, and Guitar Guitar were doing them for a silly reduced price but still only sunburst versions. Probably the best Gibson I played in the last few years was a 63 VOS 335 block reissue, around £4300 IIRC. Neck too slim for me ( and a lack of £4300...) meant it wasn't ideal, but did play and look fabulous.

Real-world gigging experiences post-COVID - how is it for you?

Apologies if this has been posted already - saw it yesterday, not great. BAD NEWS for professional performers from EQUITY in an email received today! In brief: OLIVER DOWDEN (Secretary Of State For Digital/Culture/Media/Sport) has confirmed that a full re-opening of LIVE PERFORMANCE will NOT be happening until 2021 with no further updates on the present decision (in respect of indoor performances) until NOVEMBER at the earliest! This means no Panto or Christmas season this year. SEE EMAIL BELOW: 'Last Wednesday Oliver Dowden confirmed that a full re-opening of live performance will not happen until 2021, with no further updates until November. This is devastating for panto, the wider theatre industry and for all those who work on productions made financially unviable by socially distanced audiences. It has emerged that only £2 million of the arts rescue package has been allocated to freelancers, meaning less than 0.2% of a £1.57 billion fund will directly support workers. With the £1 million committed to the Benevolent Fund by Equity exhausted in just a few months, this is both derisory and troubling. On Friday Boris Johnson announced that the anticipated re-opening of indoor live performance was postponed – the day before indoor shows had been set to begin again. This eleventh-hour decision came as a significant blow for many of our members working across variety and performance who had hoped/ to start earning again in August...' -

Basschat knowledge wins again - you're right! There's a load of wadding in the cab but found the transformer where you said. Speaker is a Beyma SM110/N - looks like a 10 inch 200 watt job https://www.beyma.com/en/products/c/low-mid-frequency/110SMN8/altavoz-sm-110-n-8-oh/ Thanks again for your help BassBod. -

Thanks for your reply! Don't think the mains transformer is in the cabinet, maybe I need to dismantle it and check! May find what the speaker is then as well. The cabinet is quite well made out of ply and doesn't rattle or anything. I honestly don't think it's worth £200 though? I was hoping for say £75 TBH. -
Ok, so this is a bit of an weird one! It's a GK 200MB combo I've been using as a practice/small gig amp for a few years now. As you can see, the original metal cabinet has long gone and replaced with a wooden version! It was like this when I got it, and I thought I'd get around to painting it black with Tuff Cab stuff but never did. The little thing works fine, pots slightly crackly occasionally but nothing that can't be easily sorted. Unsure of the speaker details, but it's a 10 inch job whereas I believe they would have been 12 inch in this model? Used it mainly at home and the occasional 'acoustic' gig with my Washburn AB20. I've tried the head into a separate cab and it sounds great too! So the big question - what's it worth? It's now superfluous to my needs, since i got a Fender Rumble 100. If someone wanted to use just the head, they could maybe make a sleeve for it, or just either use it as it is for practice or tidy it up for gigs etc. Even spares for their GK combo? Any thoughts most welcome. I'm a paid up member on here so this isn't a selling dodge - I genuinely haven't a clue what to put it up for! Cheers, Pete.

Yup, Yamaha unit is a great sounding and cost effective answer to your problem. Can be had for £29 (or maybe less) - link below has them in stock now for that price which is an absolute bargain as they often retail for more than double that. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Mixing-Headphone-Amplifier-SESSIONCAKE-SC-01-Guitar-Bass-Aux-Mixing-/153852478668

Agree with previous posts, assuming you’re okay with dealing with callers and you have a rough idea of what the piano is worth. I sold my small upright not long ago to a piano dealer who travels the UK buying them. Got a fair-ish price with him after trying it advertised locally with no luck. They are funny things to sell, and prices / demand seem to vary greatly, but good quality ones will always sell most easily. (Overstrung and underdamped are the desired features which yours should have.) Maybe with some people still in lockdown mode they might be looking at new things to learn? There are some dealers you can try if you just Google ‘pianos bought for cash’. Fill in the forms with details and you should get some response, that’s how I sold mine. Good luck!

I've loved Alison Krauss for a long time now. Her work with Union Station was just amazing, but along with her bluegrass / country stuff I think her cover of this old Brenda Lee standard is wonderful.

How much music do you actually listen to?
casapete replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
Since moving house last October I've struggled with being able to listen to music as often as I previously did. Building work on our new place got halted with Corona, so I've been unable to have my hi-fi and (rather substantial) CD collection set up. I've been getting by using You Tube / Spotify etc but it's not my ideal scenario. I have some stuff on my PC so have been utilising that. Just found out that my new music room should be finished within the next two weeks, so can't wait to get my stuff set up and wallow in some days / evenings of playing whole albums that I've missed. -
Yeh, spot on. More than any other 'instrument', voices are such a personal thing - they usually either connect or they don't! I also think that vocal tone doesn't need to strive for perfection in the way people seek in instruments*. Give me a technically imperfect voice that just somehow has that combination of tone and soul over anything really. For me, they have to sound like they mean it , if you know what I mean! (* Just shot myself in the foot here, as I often prefer this quality in instrumentalists too...)
