  1. Sounds like they’re the gigs you need to be promoting more then Blue, assuming you want to keep them of course?
  2. I agree, seeing your idols ( and in my case sometimes my peers...) starting to lose it with advancing years is indeed very sad. ( Anyone see Rod Stewart on Strictly?) One of the few who haven't gone this way for me is Sir Tom Jones. I reckon he's still spot on despite his 78 years.
  3. I was going to add BB to the list, but didn't he just keep getting newer Gibsons and call them all 'Lucille'?!! Same as Chuck Berry - although using one 355 for a long time, he just used later versions as and when I believe. Probably sold them on when Gibson gave him new ones 😉
  4. Keith Richard's 'Micawber' Telecaster. https://www.fender.com/articles/gear/iconic-mods-the-legend-of-keith-richards-micawber
  5. Sold my upright, so no need for this any more. Excellent / mint condition. Boxed with manual / spare clips / stickers! rrp seems to be £209, internet prices around £169. SOLD! More details here https://www.guitar-galleries.co.uk/products/fishman-bp-100-upright-bass-pickup?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=12403599409252&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl9ub7pvt3gIVqpztCh1-oAPfEAYYAyABEgIW__D_BwE
  6. Anyone see Lee on Graham Norton show last night with Take That? Sounding good as usual. All the rest of Jeff Lynne's main band playing too.
  7. How strange - I saw them in Manchester a couple of years ago and they were very good. Wonder what’s happened?
  8. Just slightly OT, there is a great production coming up next year about the life of Mick Ronson entitled 'Turn and face the Strange', with loads of Spiders references and songs. The band includes musicians who were involved in Hull band 'The Rats' which Mick was in, and goes on to tell the story of how he met David Bowie, along with Trevor and Woody. More details here - https://www.hulltruck.co.uk/whats-on/drama/turn-face-the-strange/?fbclid=IwAR3Yc8c5hVh5hzsbGfUE3b03YPnXBpnPfFX6k5FfNSESPnA46Z7_TZEscks Bass duties are handled ably by local legend John Bentley, ex-Squeeze. I've already seen this show twice, and it is excellent.
  9. Pretty much my exact set-up Rich! Mine is an 8 ohm cab, and have never been stuck for volume , or tone / heft etc etc, so can only assume yours will be the same with maybe more umph?!! Cracking rig for anyone thinking of looking for a quality set-up that should cover any gig. GLWTS, cheers. Pete.
  10. Nobody mention Chuck Berry yet? After leaving Johnnie Johnson's trio to go solo he went on to become a key figure in the history of rock'n'roll.
  11. Love a bit of Nils myself, but could be argued that when he left Grin to go solo he had more success? When the offer came to join Bruce his solo career had maybe become a bit static so it was an offer he couldn’t refuse. Best thing is that he still does an occasional solo tour doing smaller venues, so best of both for him. Lovely player and a top bloke too.
  12. Massive fan of The Faces, but it could be argued that Rod Stewart went on to greater success after they split. Others could be Justin Timberland / NSYNC, Beyoncé / Destiny’s Child, Peter Gabriel / Genesis, Lionel Richie / Commodores.
  13. Whilst I agree with you, I guess the engineer views it as just one less thing to worry about maybe?
  14. Here's one of the tracks I saw on the OGWT. Still sounds good to me....🙂
  15. Another Joe fan here. On joining The Eagles he gave them a massive much needed kick up the derriere, as well as bringing along his great stage presence and humour. Saw them at Bingley Stafford Hall in 1977 on the Hotel California tour, and Joe was sublime, made the band sound so good. I remember first seeing Joe on The Old Grey Whistle Test programme in the early/mid 70's. There was a film of him doing 'Funk#49' and 'Rocky Mountain Way' which was fantastic. Then I saw his name on the list of credits for Rod Stewart's 'Atlantic Crossing' album and also got a great 'Best of the James Gang' album. ( Also let's not forget he has the best guitar face ever....) 😕😄
  16. Reduced to £60, great price as these often go for over £100 on other sites.
  17. You could always try using a Sansamp Bass Driver - preamp / amp modeler pedal with lots of tones and also a good DI output for the FOH sound too. Honourable mention too for the inevitable Behringer BD121 ( based on the Sanamp) which is well worth a try for only around £25 or less. With either of these you can choose to send whatever tone you dial in to the engineer out front, and either the same thing or just a straight through signal to your onstage amp.
  18. Think there was previous thread on here about this not long ago. I remarked that I prefer the cab to be on the floor, liking the coupling / additional bottom end you get from most stages. Others disliked this, and said it was better for them having the cab nearer ear level etc. Even having the cab ( GK Neo 410 in my case ) on it’s own castors does seem to change the sound, and having yours a lot higher up on a flight case will undoubtedly alter your perception of what’s going on - you may even prefer it! Case of trial and error I think really, let us know how you get on!
  19. Great tune and as you say, not quite as straightforward as you may think. Roy Wood tours around this time of year, and is still well worth seeing if you get chance. Great band with 4 saxes and yes they do ‘I wish ....’ as well as all the Move and Wizzard stuff.
  20. They are indeed. Nice amp sir!
  21. I have the same cab ( 8 ohm version ) and love it. Quite manageable weight/size , never runs out of steam and sounds fab. Great cab for this price, GLWTS.
  22. Those horrible Zenta / Audition / Kay etc. bits of tat that continually surface on eBay for lots of dosh - what’s that all about? The sellers often try to pass them off as 60’s / 70’s Japanese works of art, when we all know they were naff then, and still are. Not sure if they ever sell, but just falsely inflate prices and make people go digging around their lofts to see if they can unearth some similar ‘vintage gem’ that you wouldn’t even light the fire with.
  23. My problem with relying on the house monitor system is just getting my bass to sound okay for me - often not possible to eq the bass separately in the wedges without it affecting anything else ( vocals / drums etc) . Also not a fan of horns for bass, which most wedges seem to have in abundance. That's why even with a good house PA I do prefer to have my own rig, however small, so that I can hear me sounding like me. If the FOH engineer thinks my onstage sound is rubbish then he can usually adjust to suit ( and I'll probably never know anyway...)
