  1. I love a 'burst Les Paul, faded so the colour is more even. Also love a two tone Strat, Buddy Holly style.
  2. I kinda agree about the TSB, but unfortunately my go to bass for the last few years has been a P-Lyte in that colour. Tried a few others but the TSB just feels right. ( Bought another one as a backup too!)
  3. Not really sure, but sometimes on a gig I'll suddenly realise they're going to need changing before the next one! Losing their tone generally seems a very gradual thing with me (D'Addario nickels) but I've noticed that the period in which I leave them on is often around the same each time, so they maybe do 'die' in a consistent manner?
  4. Think they do it in a few places in the US, certainly in Chicago anyway. https://www.choosechicago.com/event/st-patricks-day-parade-river-dyeing/20254/
  5. Make sure your bass is in tune beforehand, or it may end up sounding like this! 'Forget You' starts around 3.50. Don't say you've not been warned.........................
  6. I've had a 'Fender Instrument Care Kit' for a long time now, which contains a 'swirl and haze remover' bottle of stuff. Works great on older finishes as well as poly ones. Made in conjunction with Meguiars, ' the world's premier car care manufacturer'!! http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender/Instrument-Care-Kit-by-Meguiars-1273888003790.gc Think it's been discontinued now, but may still be some for sale somewhere. The newer Fender packs don't contain the same products https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Fender-Custom-Shop-Deluxe-Guitar-Care-Kit/XLE
  7. Nice bass! Any idea of the weight please? ( If it's not too heavy for me consider me interested! )
  8. Nice cab (and advert) Jack - are you sure this is a Gen 1 though? ( Mine has only one speakon and plastic corners.)
  9. Taken from the 'Which ?' website - Under the Sale of Goods Act, the retailer must either repair or replace faulty goods 'within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience'. If the seller doesn't do this, you're entitled to claim either: • a reduction on the purchase price, or • your money back, minus an amount for the usage you've had of the goods (called recision). If the retailer refuses to repair the goods, and won't replace them either, you may have the right to arrange for someone else to repair your item, and then claim compensation from the retailer for the cost of doing this. You have six years to take a claim to court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; in Scotland you have five years.
  10. I've used one of these for a couple of years now https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Bass-Guitar-Foam-Case-by-Gear4music/C87 It's still pretty much as new, zips working fine etc. and is really easy to use. Strong and light with more protection than a gig bag but not that much bulkier. Has a neck support too, but you may need to check it will accommodate the headstock angle on your basses. ( If you are interested I could measure the depth for you )
  11. Seen attempts by people doing this horizontally, but never vertically! Still, at least he's 'used good quality speaker cable' ......
  12. Can you make out the join, I'm struggling here.....?!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marshall-2x12-speaker-cab/152937006400?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D43781%26meid%3Df7082760a71a4b4f8bf018238480587b%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D142710655558%26itm%3D152937006400&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  13. Don't forget for complete authenticity to get the guitar player to just be ever so slightly out of tune too.....
  14. Peculiar as in 'strange' or as in 'special' ?!! Whatever, their stuff can be hard to nail as per the original recordings.
  15. Absolutely, karma and all that. Never understand why people want to fall out when it's avoidable. My last band (8 pc function) went through a succession of singers at one point. Many of them, rather than decide to give notice and leave when they'd had enough, insisted on 'falling out' with us over something trivial and then leaving in a strop with no notice and then slagging the band off for being unprofessional! Of course us bassists are always far more decent about these things.
  16. The facebook culture does seem to have bred a new wave of bad manners IMO. I don't do FB, just don't get it etc. Couple of years ago I nearly missed a local fellow musician's funeral as they only announced the details on FB. Of course, up to me to maybe get involved if I want to stay in the loop, but some things require a more personal approach I feel. Your band situation is one of these.
  17. Selling this Hartke AGX Acoustic Attack tone shaping preamp / DI pedal. It's one of these http://www.samsontech.com/hartke/products/accessories/pedals/agx1/ Bought it to use with a guitar, but works well with bass and other instruments too. Works with 9v battery, phantom power from the mixer or 9v power supply (not included). Very solid unit , and quite chunky with extruded aluminium construction. Feels very substantial and well made. Think they were around £95 new. This one is in VGC, with just a couple of light scratches, nothing horrible. Comes in the original box too. Collection from near Hull, East Yorkshire, or will post in the UK. Reckon c. £5 would cover the p&p. PM me for more pics if you need them, cheers.
  18. Mmmm, not seen one of these before. Looks a bit like an Ibanez AGB200 with a fancy headstock?
  19. I’m a massive GK fan, but for me the Fender Rumble would be top from your list. They are great - very light but punch well above their weight, and sound fantastic IMO. Richtone in Sheffield were advertising a mint s/h one for £149 recently, bargain!
  20. Great for £50 - heavy little bug*gers but work fine for small gigs / practice etc. Will last forever too. I had a couple, one had a horn which was a bit naff so it got disconnected. ( Also watch out if you have a cat - mine used to try and get into the speaker slot on the front...)
  21. Excellent stuff. Think the Trace gear I've had must have missed the anti-gravity injections though
  22. Yeh, it's a bit odd, but somehow works for us - we've done it a few times over the years. Got the date rearranged now for 4th April, so hopefully the weather will be kinder to us then.
