  1. Just booked tickets to see James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt in July at Leeds. Don't usually do big gigs, but for these two I've made an exception. Got tickets fairly near the stage so hope it's a good one. Both have their bands with them too, so hoping on bass duties it's Jimmy Johnson with JT and Hutch Hutchinson with BR. Also George Marinelli with BR is one of the best electric guitarists I've seen so can't wait.
  2. Great band. When I was in my teens it was either the Stones or the Faces that held my interest. Most of my mates at school were into ELP / Yes / Sabbath etc, but I always preferred the more blues driven rock bands, still do! Ronnie Lane was fantastic , both as a bassist and songwriter. Watching this makes me realise how sad it is that we lost him so soon, along with Ian MacLagan too. The Faces live had that wonderful 'loose but tight' thing going on, which didn't always translate to record IMO. Thanks for posting!
  3. Remember this? David Paton on the bass we don't mention....
  4. Epic gig, and a great read too. Thanks for posting, NOW GET SOME SLEEP!
  5. Oh yeah, there’s currently a Barefaced 4x10 for sale on here, £600. I know you said no 4x10’s, but this one weighs 53lbs.....
  6. I think you’ve already answered your own question by emailing Alex Something Barefaced for a one cab solution will be great. Your amp is well known for having good tone and output, so it shouldn’t be hard to find something in their range that will suit, although it may mean adjusting your budget a little! I did a gig on Friday using my GK800MB into BF Compact gen 1 cab (8 ohm 1x15) and it easily kept up with 2 very loud guitars, keys and drums in a large pub. Sounded great as well. Years ago this would have been unthinkable, and it has literally changed my working life. Wouldn’t hesitate in going down the BF route. Good luck, hope you get sorted!
  7. Fantastic pictures Michael, glad it's going well.
  8. Err... nice helmet Mart ^^^^ Is that your band playing sometime in June at The Kings Arms in Newport ,Brough by any chance?
  9. If it’s bespoke stuff you want, you need to try Stagewear Unlimited. Based near Rotherham, you can get pretty much anything made to order, and the boss Neil Crossland has a mass of experience making stuff for all sorts of bands as well as theatrical costumes for televison and theatre. 10. Pictures or it didn't happen?
  11. A few years ago, the trumpet player in a band I was in used to go onstage dressed as a bishop, full kit including mitre. Not that outrageous, but certainly got a few people's attention at corporate functions etc.
  12. OK, and I'll raise you - Brian Wilson, Suzi Quatro, Alan Gorrie, Nick Lowe, Sheryl Crow, Bryan Adams, Justin Curry, Peter Cetera, Glen Hughes, Randy Meisner and Timothy B Schmit, Rick Danko, John Wetton and the guy from OMD whose name I can't remember.
  13. Haven’t seen many for sale recently, but reckon you’re spot on with pricing.
  14. The second one certainly changed mine.....
  15. Here's another great song where the bass is pretty sparse throughout, with the exception of a slight wig-out in the middle section!
  16. Bill Black in the mid 1950's with a singer called Elvis something or other.....
  17. Loving this topic! How about this one? Some tasty fills here and there, but economical where needed. Love it!
  18. Absolutely. Played with some jazz drummers / bassists who couldn't stop themselves from playing as many notes as possible, and berating simple pop tunes when they couldn't actually just play the lines to support the song as required. Country stuff is a prime example of this - most of the top players in the genre could whip the more out there flash players into a cocked hat. But don't.
  19. Free's 'All right now' is another great example. So economical that it's not even there in the verses! Then when the chorus kicks in it's so effective, and the 'solo' part has more weight too. Andy Fraser - what an amazing player. Joined the band when he was 15, co-wrote and co produced this track when he was 17. Genius.
  20. This. Always loved the sparseness of bass in much of the AWB stuff. Alan Gorrie is a master of playing what's needed, when others would have been all over it and killed the groove completely. Hamish Stuart (when he was with them) was equally adept at this as well.
  21. Looks like a cracking band Michael, but don't think for a minute you shouldn't be there too! Have a great time.
  22. Forgot about this - my band mate does it all the time , making really unpleasant noises (he is a drummer though) Think someone ended up gaffering the button in place .....
  23. One of the guys in my country band uses the same model, primarily as just a vocal monitor for his vocal mike. He got it (with some irony) after his Mackie SRM150 packed in, which is basically what the Behringer is based on. He just uses it with the XLR in/outs before the FOH mixer, and says it's as good as the Mackie but over £100 less. Useful bit of kit.
  24. Mate in a band had a Linebacker combo for his keyboards, 50 watt I think. That amp got used for everything over the years - keys, bass, guitar, small vocal PA / monitor, etc - and never missed a beat. He still has it and it still works great.
