  1. Understand your hesitation, but £25 does get you a lot of bang for the buck. I've used mine ( as a spare / double for my Sansamp to be fair ) for 3 years now with no problems.
  2. Maybe worth looking at these too - https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-BDI21-V-Tone-Bass-Preamp/6LV Great little Sansamp clone for £25 with DI, if you can get over the Behringer thing
  3. I think techniques regularly employed by some bassists probably do more damage ....
  4. Just checked t’internet, seems there are a few out there! Sunburst and black look cool IMO, not sure about the orange though? Priced around £299 / £319.
  5. I started a thread somewhere on here when they were first announced. Think they look ace, but havent managed to see any recently. I think GAK had them in? Nice to see an original design that still manages to have a retro feel to it.
  6. Oh yeah, regarding the strap buttons - I play mine seated so not a problem, but should be easy enough to fit a button to the heel of the neck I reckon, if you can’t get on with tying that end at the nut.
  7. For me the fret less seemed a little pointless with a U Bass. The silicone strings mean that the frets don’t alter the sound much at all, and slides/ bends are hard to manage with them anyway. Also look at the Countryman bass ukes. Mine was £149 I think, and is fantastic. All ply construction (which isn’t a problem on this type of instrument),nifty little preamp and Aguilar strings as standard. Tried the U bass along side it, and honestly didn’t see the £200+ difference in quality or tone.
  8. Really interested to see how they turn out weight wise. I had to give up Stingrays due to my knackered shoulder and not being able to find one I could manage. Anything sub 8lbs could mean I’m in with a chance!
  9. Didn’t watch all of it, but the first method of ‘popping’ the loosened strings definitely works. Tried it on a mate’s old bass and it did improve the tone of a set of dead strings - not a massive amount but certainly enough to notice.
  10. If you look in one of the cheaper stores (like Home Bargains etc) you can pick up the digital ones for around the same price too (assuming you were referring to the ones with a dial?). Probably a bit more accurate.
  11. Another thread reminded me of Mark Knopfler. Didn’t like Dire Straits much, then saw him with The Nottinghill Billies and started to warm to him. He always seems just a great bloke, very grounded and friendly. Made me seek out some of his solo stuff which is so good.
  12. Cheers. Bit far from me I'm afraid, someone will get an ace cab. GLWTS.
  13. Collection from where please?
  14. Agreed, top fella although his FF stuff doesn't reach out to me. Maybe I need to try harder?
  15. Bryan Adams springs to mind for me - not a big fan in the early days, but such a decent bloke it seems. Made me warm to his music a lot more.
  16. Get in quick, deal runs out today I think.
  17. Same offer again apparently - comes up as £8 but then 75% discount at checkout makes them £2 delivered. https://reverb.com/item/2381439-reverb-clip-on-tuner-uk-exclusive?utm_campaign=uktuner
  18. I've had Danos with both types, and although not so 'vintage accurate' the all metal versions are a definite improvement. Had them on my Longhorn Pro for 10 years with no bother! Hope you get sorted, all the best.
  19. John Hornby Skewes in Leeds are the UK distributor. They will be able to help you locate some suitable replacements via one of their dealers local to you. https://www.jhs.co.uk/brands/danelectro
  20. Exactly this. My duo did a gig once at a big hotel, and they wanted us to play quiet background stuff during the drinks reception, which we did to polite applause every now and then. For the next set, they asked if we could stay in the reception area but put some of our PA speakers into the dining room for background stuff whilst they were eating! We did this ( fortunately had a monitor for ourselves!) and had lots of positive comments. For our last set we moved the PA back into the reception room where we played some stuff for dancing. At the end of the night we got a healthy tip from the booker, and gave out some business cards which resulted in some more work. Playing to the room (s) is key!
  21. Sorry, missed this post! Thanks for checking for the article. You may well have read it on here as I did a post on it just after the gig. Here's the pic of me with Lee and drummer Donavan Hepburn.
