1. Not that much help, but had a GK Neo 410 for a few years now and no problems with the speakers. Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly I'm sure.
2. Love a good cheap bass. There's something great about it not costing the earth that makes it so enjoyable for me. My Dano Longhorn is just that, wouldn't part with it. Also got a P-bass replica which is fantastic and probably didn't cost as much as the case it's kept in.
3. Blimey, tough crowd...........okay, £99. Virtually brand new cab for 1/3 of the price.
4. Okay, £110 anyone? And possible help with delivery / meet up, depending on where and when.
5. Yup, great viewing. All the bands were interesting, and agree about the winning two. Rhod Gilbert and Midge Ure both came across well I thought, very funny and genuine. Will be watching next episode with interest - Hooky from Joy Division, then the week after Jazzy B.
6. Am guessing I should have arranged a commission deal with Amazon....
7. I put my Dano Longhorn in a guitar gigbag, fits perfectly. It is a 30.5" short scale bass though, with a fairly compact design.
8. OBBM - job done. Best there are / most cost effective option in the long run too. Buy cheap buy twice and all that.....
9. A 'Crikey, thought this was bargain of the week' type bump.
10. As I stated on another thread, I'm reluctant to spend a fair wedge on a good class D amp, only to then apparently need to spend more dosh on a pedal in order to make the thing work properly. YMMV.
11. Also handy when flight casing a cab. FWIW I prefer the sound of my 4x10 without the castors too.
12. Selling my Hartke 410 XL cabinet. It is in virtually as new condition, having only been used a few times since purchase as it's just been a spare cab. These seem to sell for around £299 new, so £125 is a great price. reduced to£110 for quick sale! 13. Been looking at getting another of these as a spare for my spare! Cracking pedal for the money, even if you just use it as a DI. Good deal here including p&p too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-Modeler-Guitar-Effects-Pedal/dp/B000KIPUQG/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1464436800&sr=1-1&keywords=behringer+bdi+21
14. Coda in Stevenage doesn't seem too far from you. I've been there many times, and always found the staff really friendly and helpful. Don't be put off by the tiny shop front - they have vast stocks of everything a guitarist would want, including massive range of Custom Shop models from Fender and Gibson along with PRS, Ibanez etc etc. Also plenty of stuff in the lower / midrange price range, and some s/h stock too. I travel all over the UK and usually try to visit any music shops I can, and Coda is up there for me alongside Andertons, Guitar Guitar and GAK as one of the best.
15. Looks good, nice pics. Built in tuner too eh? Curious to know how it performs, watching with interest. Always had a soft spot for peavey gear, although maybe they're a bit late to the lightweight amp party. Made in China I'm guessing?
16.
Frankenstein - Edgar Winter group Radar Love - Golden Earring First picture of you - The Lotus Eaters Mary's Prayer - Danny Wilson E=MC2 - Big Audio Dynamite Street Life - The Crusaders Pick up the pieces - AWB
Love the AWB song, although they went on to have quite a few more hits including 'Let's go round again'. Nobody mentioned these yet? How 'bout us - Champaign Ain't no stopping us now - McFadden and Whitehead How long - Ace
17. Do it! I reckon it is a 'best of both' situation, works for me anyway. Although my P-bass Lyte came that way as standard, its not that difficult a job for a lot more tonal options, and does n't greatly detract from the original too much. A MIM P-bass would be an ideal basis for it too.
18. Proper amps these, and not overly heavy too at around 22lbs. I have a couple of them, never failed on me at all. Great eq and loud as hell...
19.
Non of those are actually dominator heads. Unless I've read it wrong. Also mine is a different sloping front model. But the heads do look cool better than a combo.
You're right, my bad! It seems that once the combos were made into separate amps/cabs, the amps lost their 'Dominator' status and got designated different names, such as 'Monitor reverb' etc. Is yours the later version like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wem-dominator-bass-25-/291742606859 Agree with comment #3 above too.
20. Wem did indeed make separate Dominator heads and cabs. http://wem-owners.com/images/my-collection-2/my-collection/
21. I saw a 1x15 speaker cab recently advertised on eBay, claimed to be recently serviced. What's that all about then? Checking the input socket, and maybe speaker terminals?!!
22.
If you've got a road crew it really doesn't matter how heavy your rig is. It is someone else's job the carry it. Also the sound of the bass rig becomes less important the larger the stage is as the bass will most likely be DI'd before the amp and most of the on-stage sound will be delivered through the monitors, and the FoH will come almost entirely from the PA.
That was my point. With road crew you can presumably have anything you want, big and heavy OR smaller and lightweight. A lot of people in this situation elect to choose the former. Whether this is for purely sonic reasons or aesthetics is another matter of course, but I would like to think how the rig sounds would be the main factor.
23.
As an old fart myself I tend to agree, but there's no accounting for taste. If sound was the only consideration I'd use an SVT and an 8X10 - having toured this rig back in the day, nothing currently available improves on it for sheer power and tone - in my opinion. It is still the benchmark. However, reality crashes in - as it tends to - and I need to avoid another hernia. Hernias are funny, but not so much if you have one yourself - and I can confirm that the surgical repair process and recovery is even less amusing.
Totally agree - my SVT rig is still the sound I have in my head that's the best I ever had. This isn't rose tinted glasses time either, and is why they still dominate stages worldwide.
24.
Just googled it, lots of sound clips, and its only twenty squid!!! Incredible - if people can make a stand alone pedal for that why are manufacturers not all incorporating the technology !
+1 It would annoy me somewhat after spending 500 odd quid on a micro amp to then have to buy a separate pedal to make it sound proper.
