    Danelectro Longhorn - superb things! Try and get an earlier Korean one, they crop up on ebay every now and then for around £150/£200. Only one sound, but its fantastic! Plenty of 50's/60's thumpy vibe but with a hint of twang too. Used by Jack Bruce, Entwistle etc.

    Danelectro Longhorn player here - great short scale bass for not a lot of dosh. I also play a Stingray and a Precision and don't have any trouble swapping between the different scale lengths, it is quite interesting as it can make you have a slightly approach which can be a good thing! Always quite fancied an Ibanez AB semi too, although for some reason have never wanted to go down the Fender short scale route - Mustang etc.

    Not a GM fan myself (too widdly for me), but nevertheless interesting to see that Eric Clapton's upcoming new album is going to contain a version of 'Still got the blues' apparently. And yes, does n't seem like 2 years since his very premature demise.

    Worked with The Troggs in the late 80's - lovely set of blokes, especially Reg who was great company, very funny and not at all big-time. RIP reg.

I always end up in there for at least an hour, and usually come away with lots of stuff (at great prices).

    Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes - my favourite band over the last 35 years. Every night different, great original material and always some interesting covers thrown at you to keep you on your toes. (And a blasting horn section too.) Others - The Stones - know most of the stuff, and love Keith & Charlie's playing. Chuck Berry - just to see if I could pull it off! The E Street Band - awesome gig.

    A wise local muso once told me that most people spend 6 months trying to get their new guitar/amp to sound exactly like their old one. Many a true word etc................

    Fender Precision Lyte? Very underated bass, even if you don't get on with actives.

    Use a Fender 34" scale for most of my stuff, and a Danelectro Longhorn 30" scale for a weekly pub gig. No problems using both, (although wouldn't like to have to reverse their roles!)

    Agreed - proper amp for a great price. Not overly heavy either (18 lbs) - I have a couple of GK heads already or would be all over this like a rash.

    One of my first gigs in the early 70's - Hull City Hall. Andy Powell/Ted Turner/Martin Turner & Steve Upton line up. Great band, with a lot of Orange kit on stage IIRC. All used proper guitars too, and sounded brill. Martin Turner's band are coming to Hessle Town Hall in early March - about 100 yds away from my house! Hope to go if I'm not working.

    More love for Behringer - I have a BD121 DI box thing (basically a Tech 21 Bass driver copy) which was I think around £25. Sounds great & daft for the money ( although not the most durable buld quality.) Peavey old school stuff - just great. Mark 111/1V heads still around, they just keep on going and you can get them fixed should anything go wrong (unlikely). Shame they weigh a ton etc......

    Nice bass -do you think this may be a later version though? I believe the P-Lyte did n't appear until around 1988/89, so I think it may be from the period of transition from 'Made in Japan' to 'Crafted in Japan' around 1997, right at the end of this models production. Reason for this is I have a near identical P-Lyte, from 1997 with a V+6 digit serial number. As far as I know, the later P-Lytes were the only ones to have the darker 'tobacco' sunburst finish and chrome hardwear - earlier models had the lighter 'caramelburst' finish with gold hardwear. Also the earlier versions all had matching colour headstocks, whilst later ones had just plain.Towards the end of the P-Lyte's run, Fender seemed to use more generic parts - I've seen a few with original neckplates marked 'Made in USA' ! These are still very underated basses IMO, and for me the later ones were the best. Good luck with your sale!

    Slightly OT, but with two guitarists in a band quite good results can be had to have them tune ever so slightly out with each other - makes for a great 'jangly' thing. (Can get iffy when you add a keyboard player into the mix though!)

[/quote] +1. Spent a large part of my playing life propping up drunken band members, with varying degrees of success. Even had a stint of 'if you cant beat em join em' in a misguided attempt to stop it getting me down. Am very fortunate now to being with a bunch of people who treat playing gigs with utmost respect for all concerned. We go on straight every time, and then if we feel like it have a drink or three afterwards. Best way for me.

    Original version is in B minor, (although I think later versions maybe dropped to A minor). Great bass playing by Andrew Bodnar, an early Musicman Stingray user.
