1. Am considering changing the pickup(s) on my 96 P-bass Lyte. They sound great, but the rear (jazz) unit seems to collect a lot of unwanted noise in certain venues we play, so was thinking of swapping this for a dual coil jazz sized pickup that fits the cavity with no routing. My options are a)Ideally just replace the rear pickup b)Replace both pickups with a matched set such as EMG etc , maybe with a new preamp/controls too if needs be. So what I need to know really is whether the rear pickup can successfully be replaced whilst retaining the existing front pickup and controls/preamp etc. Also anyone know the spec of the pickups and suitable replacements (passive or active). Let me know if you've had experience of doing this to yours. Many thanks in advance.
2. Aaah, ok - sorry!
3. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the most recent pages (nearly 7 of them) in the 'Items Wanted' section have not seen any replies? Am guessing this is because people who are n't registered to sell on here are unable to answer?
4. Superb - great post, thanks!

6. In our country band we have a weekly Thursday night residency. Usually in the first set, we have a feature called 'its not country but....' where we play something (usually a pop/rock song) that's well known but in a country style. Most have worked well - recent ones being 'Valerie', 'Don't you want me baby', 'Fat bottomed Girls'. As in previous post, songs are there to be altered if you feel like it and it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OF4NOdbBLo
7. Some versions of the Hohner B2A (Steinberger design) have an XLR out. Never used it on mine though............
8. The Time Jumpers featuring Vince Gill on a great George Strait song - love it.

10. One of the greats. RIP Lou.
11. Paul sorted me out with some knobs for my Fender P.Lyte. Thoroughly decent chap, he's what makes BC the great community it is.
12. A fabulous instrument in the right hands, nothing like it really. Buddy Emmons and Lloyd Green were the governors for a long time, although now Paul Franklin seems to be generally regarded as one of the best. Look out for his playing with Vince Gill in The Time Jumpers. I'm fortunate to play with a great steelie, Dave Holley. He plays with my country band sometimes, and the steel really adds another dimension. Other UK players of note include the aforementioned BJ Cole, Gordon Huntley, Melvin Duffy and Gerry Hogan (of Hogans Heroes with Albert Lee).
13. According to the GP website, it looks like the full band so will be Brinsley and Martin Belmont I reckon - hope so. Saw GP & The Rumour many times in the 70's and early 80's, always a great band. Really looking forward to seeing them again - apparently the 5 UK gigs are selling really well.
14.
As you were, bingo! Found them - PM me your address and I stick them in the post.
PM sent - you sir, are a gentleman!
15. I'm going to this gig Mike - should be great. Andrew Bodnar had better have his Stingray in evidence! Will give you a shout if I know anyone else who wants to come, cheers. Pete.
16.
I may have some kicking around - I put a J East U Retro in mine and have the old ones 'somewhere'. I'll have a look and get back to you - if I find them you can have them.
That's great Paul, thanks. Crossing my fingers!
17. Thanks. Did have a look at their site, but will get in touch with them to check. Cheers, Pete.
18. Anyone know where I can source some of these please? Think they were also used on other MIJ Fender late 80's era. They are black plastic with a Fender 'F' logo on the top 'cap' bit, which usually go awol pretty quickly! Any help much appreciated, cheers.
19. seem to remember 'Sylvia' on Live at the Rainbow album my schoolmate had as having a great bum note in! And here it is, around 2mins 7sec in.
20. Pretty sure it was a Fender RI - matching headstock too. My better half took this on her phone, but did n't come out that well!!
21. Had the pleasure of catching Andy Fairweather Low last night at Ripley near Harrogate. Really superb show with a great band featuring Dave Bronze. He was playing a Lake Placid blue Fender Jazz reissue with black nylon strings, into a Mark bass rig with 6x10 cab - sounded immense! I love Dave's playing - economical but right in the groove. He seemed to be enjoying it too, helped by having Paul Beavis on drums. A rare chance to see a world class bassist in a small gig. Music was a mix of blues / country / r&b / even gospel! Also a few Amen Corner gems thrown in along with some of Andy's previous solo stuff. Catch them if you get chance on rest of UK tour - dates here.
