In the new (August 2012) edition of Guitar & Bass magazine, there is an interesting 5 page article on Dave Swift's vintage private collection. Lots of pics & info. Cheers.

Selling my Hohner B2A as it's just not getting used at the moment. Not sure how old it is, I've had it for a few years so am guessing it's a late 80's/early 90's one. Obviously it's the active model, which usefully has an active/passive switch should the battery go down (which has never happened to me but handy all the same). Spec is : Solid US maple body and neck Neck through body construction Rosewood fingerboard / 24 frets Steinberger licensed DB detunable bridge 2 EMG designed pickups, each with volume control Active bass&treble controls Active /passive switch with LED Fold out leg rest It is in excellent condition overall - few tiny marks but no big scratches/gouges etc! Sounds massive too - used it in an 8-piece band for a while and it was great. Comes complete with a Ritter gig bag (in exc con) and also a very sturdy aluminium flight case which I bought from a fellow basschat person IIRC. Will also throw in some spare strings if I can find them! Looking for £235, near offers considered. Now asking £220 ono. Bass is in East Yorkshire, just east of Hull. Would prefer cash on collection or possible (Northern?) meet up, as the flight case is quite heavy. I also get around a fair bit with my band, so may be able to work something out there - however, will post if needs be. More pics available - PM me your email and will send them. Cheers, Pete. PS - any marks on the front are my lousy photography/reflections. SOLD!

There is some great advice on here in the 'Amps and Cabinets' section - 'Impedance etc' - which should give you all you need to know.

Have reluctantly decided to sell my MM Sub4. It's not getting used and I have a Stingray too, so this one must go - know I'll regret it but there we are. It's in blue, and is the active 2 band eq version. Recently restrung with 45-105 Rotos, and a new Duracell fitted. According to Ernie Ball it was made on September 12th 2003, so I guess that makes it an early one? Condition wise it's virtually mint - no chips / gouges / etc. It's been very well looked after, (only being used for theatre shows) so I'd safely give it a 9 out of 10. Soundwise it's up there with my 2 eq Stingray, very hard to tell them apart IMO. For virtually half the price of a s/h Stingray you get a well put together great sounding USA instrument, that should hold it's value and maybe even appreciate! Am asking £375 for this beauty, to include a rigid gig bag case. I'm based in East Yorkshire near Hull, and would prefer cash on collection if possible, or maybe a meet up somewhere. Failing that, I am willing to post - am guessing around £20 should cover UK delivery. Any questions please ask - can email more pics etc.- thanks for looking. Pete. NOW SOLD - non BC sale.

What Bass do you swear buy? Any thoughts on Sandberg?
For me it's either a Stingray or a Sterling.
+1 Never played a bad Musicman yet - consistent and sound brill. My 'go to' every time (and I love Fenders too!) -
Just a quick heads up - Strings Direct are doing a discount of 10% until midnight June 5th. Enter 'JUBILEE' in the voucher code section of 'your basket' and the discount will be applied. (I'm nothing to do with the company by the way, just got an email with the deal mentioned.) Cheers.

Bit obvious maybe, but how about Kid Rock's 'All summer long' too? Edit - Beat me to it Ian!! -
Try to start building a working relationship with a local van hire company. After a few hires when they can see you're okay, you can probably negotiate better rates for regular use, and carry whatever gear you need in a reliable and safe vehicle. Sounds a bit boring I know, but worked for us.

The bass that you shouldn't have let go of ...
casapete replied to Fionn's topic in General Discussion
Early JV Squier P bass in black / maple. Great bass I foolishly part exed for a rather below average USA P bass - never made that mistake again! Also a great mint codition pre Ernie Ball MM Stingray in natural / maple - to be fair I sold this as it weighed a ton, but sounded wonderful all the same............ (Started my long time Musicman romance which continues to this day. Wonder where it is now?) -
Soul Bossa Nova - Quincy Jones (Austin Powers etc) Return of the Las palmas 7 - Madness Black Magic woman - Santana/F.Mac - works ok as an instr. Hill Street Blues - Mike Post (only if your guitarist & keys players are up to it tho!) How about Blues Bros version of 'Sweet Home Chicago'? - vocal parts can be err..improvised to suit non vocalists? Goes on for ever, but very danceable blues shuffle etc.
