1. Am really hoping to make it this year, so long as nobody decides they need to get married/book a band at the last minute...........
2. Hi - what ohms are the cabs please (4 or 8) ? (Am assuming they're not the Black Widow equipped ones) Cheers!
3. Bump-anyone interested? Will move it to for sale/recycling sections if not!
4.
Can you get a price for postage for me, I think my headcased Mesa 400+ will fit in this nicely
Had one PM already-am awaiting a reply regarding dimensions of their amp. Will give you first dibs if the deal does n't happen. If so, would prefer we meet up somewhere (maybe halfway) rather than postage if possible. Am guessing it would be maybe £20 to post, but at moment have n't got time to check. Sorry! Cheers, Pete.
5. Continuing my clearout of stuff I don't use. Flightcase in very good condition - foam lined and with 2 handles &2 locks. Dimensions External - 58cms(nearly 23")wide / 56cms (22") deep / 53cms (nearly 21") high Internal - 52cms(20.5")wide / 49cms (just over 19") deep / 46cms (just over 18") high. Guessing it may fit small cabinets (some EA, Schroeder, Aguilar etc?) or combos (GK MB?) along with other kit such as guitar combos & monitors etc. Asking £30,but may take a near offer. Would also trade for a decent hard guitar case (to fit my Telecaster) - straight swap. I'm near Hull in East Yorkshire - would rather not have to post it (but will if pushed!) Prefer collection / meet up etc - am maybe going to Yorkshire bass bash in Harrogate on March 21st so could bring with me. Cheers, Pete. ON HOLD PENDING USUAL
6. Can recommend Washburns - AB20 / AB10 range are excellent mid price instruments. Think you can get an AB10 for around £300 new, so probably less than £200 s/h,ebay etc.
7.
First.... Squier Jazz with EMG's into Carlsboro Stingray 300 head with a 2x15 cab made by Tim Gentle Music who I believe became part of Adam Hall Supplies in Essex. Current... see sig below
I was doing a gig last August at an outdoor festival nr. Durham. There was a T.Rex tribute band on with us,and I got talking to a guy who was with them - turned out to be Tim Gentle! I once bought a Les Paul from his shop (which I think was just outside Southend, maybe Rayleigh or Benfleet?-in Essex).
8. I've used a top quality flightcase for gigs abroad (by plane and truck) with no problems. Not sure whether a generic ABS type bass case would've survived though-seen a few of those with major battlescars after baggage handlers have worked their magic. For everyday stuff a (good) gigbag or case is enough for me,and a lot easier to manage.
9. Just sold John some strings - easy transaction, good communications etc. Top bloke to deal with - highly recommended. Pete.
10. Geoff just bought some wall hangers from me-easy no fuss transaction, great bloke to deal with. Cheers Geoff!
11. First bass I had was a Fender Precision, late 70's 3 tone sunburst bought from Alpha Music in Leeds. Not a great time for Fenders methinks and certainly not a patch on my next bass, a JV Squier 57 Precision. Think my first amp rig (after borrowing a Selmer Croc 50 watt T'n'B with massive matching 1x18 cab!) would have been an Acoustic 120 head into a Leech 2x15 cab with 200 watt HH drivers. (Still got the cab now, although currently loaded with 2x15 EV's.)
12.
My favourite has to be Electromusic in Doncaster; no pushy salesmen that are earning commission on a specific brand, nice relaxed atmosphere, and they price match. What more could you want? I buy a lot of gear there, and they've always looked after me. Bought a Markbass combo there last weekend, and they knocked almost £200 off. Worst has to be Music Ground in Leeds. Never before have arrogant attitudes, rude staff and ridiculous prices come together to form such a farce of a business.
+1 for Electro. Great service and prices.
13.
It deffinitely is more than 20 years old and it's a Dunlop. Can't help you with much more sorry!
Cheers. As there is no mention of a name anywhere on the pedal though I'm still confused as to who made it and when! Various possibles include Dunlop,Vox,Thomas Organ Company(!) and Jen amongst others! The bit of research I've done suggests these all made the Cry Baby at various times, but maybe needs an expert to identify which one it is from the internal pic.
14. Good post - over the many years of playing bass (and gui*ar) I've often fondest memories of cheaper models. Squier JV Precision, a Tokai Jazz and a great Jap Dan Armstrong see through are my fave 'cheapies', although they would n't be that now! I think its that great feeling of connecting with an instrument when you know it has n't cost as much as maybe the original it was modelled on. My MM Sub bass is as good as my Stingray in most respects, for half the dosh. Same goes for amplification-wish I'd kept some of those too. All hail good inexpensive gear!
15. Cant go wrong with white/off white/cream with a tort plate. Sterlings are great basses, still undervalued IMO.
16.
Reckon you'll need to post a gut shot, the outside hasn't changed much ever.
Thanks mate, have added an internal pic. Hope this helps - cheers.
17. Offers? or else the loft monster gets 'em back....
18. I use a Pignose Hog 30 - just about ok for the job. Not sure of the price now, when I bought mine from Thomann I seem to think it was around £90. Last quite a few hours on one charge, keeps up with rest of jazz band but only just.
19. Mark bought a speaker cable off me-prompt payment,good communications-top fella! Pete.
20.
They're usually in mm: mine's 10mm.
Guess that makes mine 16mm then-are these common?
21. If it does n't go here you should get your asking price on ebay-they seem to go for £250+ sometimes. Great basses, very usable.
