1.
It's one of those generic Chinese jobbies, Rockers in Denmark Street used to have a boatload of them badged as 'Rockers' but they turn up all over the place. Actually pretty good VFM when set up, but you're not going to be able to retire on the proceeds! Probably valued at about £100-125? Cheers, James
Remember seeing something like this in Music Ground in Leeds a few years ago which would tie in with your info. Thanks !
2. Now sold, thanks for the interest. Cheers Pete.
3. Someone I know after selling this - has asked me what it is / value etc and I'm not sure!! Obviously some sort of generic Jazz copy, quite good quality too. Tinted gloss neck, matching headstock, chrome knobs and finger rest!! No clues on it as to origin, brand name etc. Have cleaned it up and its in pretty good nick, plays and sounds fine. Any thoughts/opinions/ideas of what it may be worth etc. more than welcome - many thanks.
4.
Anyone got experience of these? Rees Really good write up in this months BGM. Allegedly very light.
I tried this bass at a guitar show last year and was quite impressed - very light,SD pickup, great neck shape and balanced well. At the time was looking for a bass to use after a shoulder/arm injury and thought this might do the trick. Just could n't get past the aesthetics though, which probably shows how shallow I am! Think Rees are based near Cambridge - the guy on the stand at the show said I could go to see them made and they would build a bass to my requirements, which at the time would have cost around £600 - not a bad price really?
5.
Where are you at the moment? Becasue im interested but i live in the midlands.
I live near Hull, East Yorkshire, but do get around a bit! Depending on where I could maybe meet up with you somewhere half way-ish or something? Let me know and we'll see if we can sort it. Cheers.
6. Now just £300, or make me a near offer? Looking for a Mark Bass LM head and/or a Barefaced Compact cab in trade.
7. Just got strings from Lawrence - exactly as described, sent them straight away& well packed. Great feller, thanks for an easy transaction mate. Cheers Pete.
8. PM'd
9. Think you're right mate! The cabs will share the output equally between them if they are the same impedance i.e. both 8ohms.
10. Any ideas if the case would fit a Stingray?
11.
I wouldn't say that. I'd much rather play in a theatre on a nice big stage through a decent PA,than play in a pub with people falling over your pedals.
+1 I've done a couple of tribute bands that played mainly in theatres, and loved it for the same reason. Usually easy load in/out, helpful stage staff and often great hospitality thrown in. Also enjoy starting at 7.30 and being finished by 10 too! However, I am fortunate enough to have other gigs where it's a bit more 'real', and to be honest really enjoy the variety/contrast of work. Maybe only doing 'polite' theatre style gigs would do you in after a while, but after playing in bands for nearly 40 years it does make a refreshing change to be able to have the luxury of room on stage and great PA etc.
12.
Mmm - nice amp! I'd be interested in this if i can sell my Ashdown head - I have a couple of GK cabs already and they are fantastic! Just curious - with one cab (4x10) would you just use the woofer output and not the tweeter/horn thing?
I've always just used the woofer output (which still gives a full range sound) and its been great. Did try using it bi-amped with the horn output too but not to my taste so didnt persist. With the right sort of wired cable you can use straight into some GK cabs and power the main drivers and horn unit seperately with both sections of the amp if thats your thing. Cheers-let me know if you sell your Ashdown!
13. I'll have 'em! PM me your details mate Cheers, Pete.
14. Turned up last night to play at wedding in marquee (usual stuff for us) - and it was brilliant! Great crowd, free bar, lots of lovely women and our PA sounded good too! Also had a stand in trumpet player (John Dunn from Darlington - 'Johnny Dep!') who despite his lack of years (21 the bu*ger) did an excellent job. Best gig we've had in a while, wish they were all like this etc.............
15. Also make sure you know which recorded versions they want you to learn - with You Tube / Spotify etc there are so many versions of the same song avilable. You need a definitive copy of the material on cd to make sure you're all going for the same thing, and avoid the "Oh we do the 'Live version from 1979' argument.................
16. Great rig! Would expect the amp to fetch maybe up to £100, the 2x15 around the same too? Is the 2x10 powered ? (Quite rare these days ,not a clue to its worth though!)
17. Never (sadly?) done a gig that demanded the sound of 2 basses - my Stingray can be coaxed into quite a lot of different noises. As for a backup, have never taken more than 1 bass to a gig. Only time I wished I had was when the battery in my Precision Lyte gave up the ghost with no warning mid set - fortunately I carried a spare but the band had to do one song without me. Never broken a bass string in 30 years, but again always carry spares - also have spare leads/strap etc. Of course I'll probably now break a string and have my bass die on me tonight!
18. Thanks for the kind words - bump for pics .
19. Although I love GK amps, this one is not getting used (as its my 'spare' and my other two never let me down!) Am also looking to get a 'small' rig together for gigs where I can get away with less kit / level etc. so would be interested in a trade/swap for a Little Mark head as well as just a straight cash sale. I've had this amp for around 3 years, and it's never missed a beat. Absolutely 100% reliable and lived in a strong rack from new. Been used in my function band, never abused at all so in excellent condition. Been regularly serviced and PAT tested too. Sounds fabulous with my 4x10 and/or 1x15 cabs - warm, loud and with the boost wound up can get a bit 'growly' too if thats your thing. Basic spec - 480 watts @ 4 ohms 320 watts @ 8 ohms 50 watts @ 8 ohms (horn amp) 4 band active eq, boost control, contour and presence controls, 4/5 string voicing, XLR DI out with pre/post switching, send/return/tuner out jacks, Speakon and jack speaker outputs, mute switch. Weighs around 17 lbs & takes 2U rack space. Quality USA made amplifier. NOW SOLD Would prefer cash on collection / meet up / possible delivery (obviously depending on where etc.) I'm in East Yorkshire, but do travel around a fair bit ( mainly Yorkshire / Midlands but am in Surrey via M11 end of August) If you need any more pics then let me know. Cheers Pete.
20. I love my Danelectro Longhorn - 30" short scale, sounds great and cheap n cheerful too! Not the most robust bass out there but certainly one of the best.
21. I got mine through www.musicguard.co.uk Got my Stingray insured for £1200 and included was £1m public liability for a year - had to have it for a recent gig etc. Dont know if thats the best deal around, but worth a look, cheers.
22.
MM Sterling.
+1 - the Sterling gives you all of the MM goodness with a thin 'jazz' profile neck,so the transition from the Ibanez should be a lot easier.
23. SVT 3 Pro's seem to usually go for around £350 / £400 in good nick (assuming yours is the USA version) As for the cab, 8x8's are a bit of a rarity, so will depend on how much somebody wants it really (and condition of course). Reckon upwards of £250 - anyone else any ideas?
