Anyone? Great Strat at a great price! -
Hope it goes well for you. I broke my upper left arm badly in October, and am not back to playing bass yet. Currently gigging with my band playing synth basslines, so I know how it is to be incapacitated. Have just started back driving again though, which is bloody marvellous!

Cheers ped[/quote] The Hartke HA7000 is really two HA3500's in one amp i.e. 350 watts output each poweramp into 4 ohms. Don't know if this would suit your need for 'stereo' setup though, and a bit on the heavy side too.

Great little combo. Has a 15 inch speaker, 6 band graphic eq,compressor.Controls for gain&comp/bass/treble/master vol. Jack sockets for DI / effects send&return on rear panel, along with speaker jack outputs (4 ohm min load) Made in the UK, probably early 1990's? Fairly light,yet loud enough for small gigs/rehearsals etc. In very good nick for its age. Am looking for £60 ( or possible swap for a bass cab -1x15,4 or maybe 2x10's etc.-that will handle 200 watts+ please.) Tidy giggable UK built combo for the price of a crappy practice amp! I am located in East Yorkshire near Hull, but could maybe meet/deliver somewhere. Am hoping to be at the Harrogate Bass Bash on Feb 15th, so thats a possible too. Thanks for looking. NOW SOLD! I have for sale an American Fender Stratocaster, in bright yellow (graffiti yellow?- seems to be a rare colour - Jeff Beck has used a similar Strat I believe?). It is the maple neck version. Made in Corona in California in 2001 (serial number Z1 etc). Has the 5 position selector switch, along with usual 3 knob controls. It has been fitted with a set of Kinman pickups - AVN 62's at the neck and middle positions / SCN at the bridge. This configuration was recommended by Kinman for Stevie Ray Vaughan type sounds - fatter than the originals,bit hotter output and hum free too! (For more info on these, look at their website, www.kinman.com) The guitar is in overall very good condition. There are a few marks here and there, but nothing serious or breaking through the finish. Some of the lower frets are showing slight wear,but could be sorted out if you want with a fret dress for not much dosh. It plays fine as it is and sounds excellent,as you would expect with the £220 worth of pickups! Its a good working Strat, a players guitar rather than a showpiece. Comes with the original Fender shaped hard case which although not as tidy as the guitar is still okay (but then thats what its there for!) Nothing much else to tell you really. For more pictures drop me a PM and will try to get you some sent. Was asking £450, now £425 before it goes to ebay- think this is a cracking deal for a genuine USA Strat with a full set of Kinmans. If no interest from here,will be going to ebay fairly soon, as need the dosh due to an arm injury. Would rather it went to a Basschat person, hence the good price. I am based in East Yorkshire near Hull, and would rather not post/courier the guitar if at all possible. Could maybe arrange meet/deliver etc - hope to be at the Harrogate Bass Bash on Feb 15th too, so could bring it with me. Thanks for looking, Pete.

Think the Guild 301 series basses were mid 70's. They did a few versions, some with DiMarzio pickup options,and were often rather heavy beasts. Quality USA build though, and bordering on quirky/collectable now perhaps. I seem to remember they did a half fretted/half fretless version too! IIRC the lower part of the neck was fretted, with the upper section fretless for those moose-like moments! Needless to say they did n't catch on, and subsequently a rare beast. Shame yours is defretted, which unfortunately will reduce it's value, but you should still geta a fair price for it. Good luck .

The Ampeg 8x10 design works so well because each pair of 10 inch speakers is in its own sealed space i.e. 4 lots of 2x10's. If you remove the grille you will see these 'compartments'. I've always felt that this had a lot to do with why they sound so good, especially as the speakers themselves are nothing special-for some reason it just works when you get 8 of them in that cabinet! So maybe not quite the same as stacking 2 cabinets with 4x10's in?

Peavey 1x15 Black widow cabs are available in 4 or 8 ohms,and handle 350 watts rms. Their standard 2x10 cabs are 4 ohm but only 175 watts rms, although they do a 4 ohm 4x10(350w). Great cabs for the money, and a good s/h buy.

A lot of their stuff has great basslines (some played by Carol Kaye I believe), and still sound amazing today - Good Vibrations,God Only Knows,Darlin, California Girls etc etc. A testimony to the sheer genius of Brian Wilson. (If you get chance to see Brian in concert then do-his 11 piece band is amazing!)

Had an SVT rig in the late 80's - it was early 80's manufacture I think. From a time when there was only the 300 watt head and 8x10 cab that was called SVT I believe. Without a doubt the best amplification I've ever used-full,loud,articulate and looked amazing too! Have used later models which were all okay too, although these were USA manufacture. (cant vouch for the far eastern stuff) There has to be reason why some 40 years after they were first introduced the Ampeg SVT is still an industry standard - look on stage at festivals, gigs,TV shows etc and you will see them still being utilised by top bands,hire companies etc. Reason I had to get rid of mine was portability mainly, with the amp head weighing nearly as much as the cab (or so it felt!). Otherwise I would still be using it now.

Years ago was in a band doing ..ahem.. Simply Red stuff. ( Look, times were hard, okay?!!) Always had trouble with 'Fairground' for some reason. (Maybe due to me hating their material to begin with.) My country band does a cover of '5 o clock somewhere' by Alan Jackson. Great straight forward tune, except the last break which is over a count of 5 instead of the usual 4. Its for some reason really hard, especially when singing too. Too many years of playing 4 to a bar in everything I guess.

Just watched great programme on Motown's 50th anniversary presented by Martin Freeman. Featured some current footage of the Funk Brothers, Bob Babbit etc. There is an extended repeat showing on Friday 9th on BBC2 at 11.35pm (The Culture Show) which should be even better.
