    Absolutely this ^^^^ Due to powered cabs being so popular, good powered mixer amps can be picked up for little money s/h, and the Yamaha EMX stuff is brilliant. I have an EMX512SC, 500 watts x2 , 8 channels and lots of features. Can be found for around £150 ish s/h, add a couple of decent passive cabs (also cheap s/h) and you’re good to go, with cash to spare for a monitor for your singist too. 😀

    Fabulous thread so far, following with interest. Incidentally I’ve owned an AB20 for 25 years plus. Used it on hundreds of gigs in all conditions and never once had to adjust the truss rod at all! Great basses, very underrated IMHO.

    Got this with a 5 string set of Warwick Red Bronzewounds - was cheaper buying the 5 string set even though I only use a 4 string electro acoustic! Knowing how unpopular bronzewound strings seem to be on here, I wouldn't imagine people will be fighting over this, but thought I'd give it a go. Now taken, cheers!

    Much prefer the appearance of chrome or nickel, irrespective of bass colour really. Black can be okay but not if it makes the bass look too rock/metal.Can’t stand gold, either to look at or especially when it tarnishes which it seems to do quite readily. I don’t like gold finishes on anything really though - watches and jewellery etc. Somehow looks a bit cheap/tacky to me.

    Nice guitar Andy, obviously meant for you! I tried one a while ago and was well impressed. Always fancied one of the Yammy BEX4 basses too. Begs the question - have Yamaha ever made any bad instruments?

    My band has got 33 gigs booked in for 2021, starting early July, with more to hopefully be added. Also 17 confirmed for 2022 so far. Most of our gigs are in theatres, so good to know that they are confident in committing to book dates. Let’s just hope people don’t abuse the gradual relaxation of lockdown rules and prevent it all from being able to happen. 🙂

    My choice exactly. Great sounding amp, and so portable. New they’re over your budget, but s/h ones often seem to crop up for around £350/£400.

    Here's a weird one - a quantity of single Rotosound bass strings for sale. (45 individual strings in total.) These came from a shop that has closed down, and probably date from maybe the 90's or a little later. All long scale (32-34") and unused / still in their paper sleeves. Consists of ( quantity / gauge / Rotosound code on packet) 1x 0.50 (SBL5) 28x 0.055 (SBL6) 1 x 0.070 (SBL9) 15 x 0.075 (SBL10) NOW GONE! - Donated to charity.

    Brian recruited the whole band, some of whom were in a Beach Boys tribute band in LA! Jeffrey in particular looked after Brian a lot onstage, and made it possible for him to tour successfully following a long period of absence. Just seems a shame to me that some of the band left ‘the master’ to take the dollar from the current Beach Boys, after all Brian had done with them. Plenty on Google about Beach Boy frontman Mike Love and Brian falling out too.
