  1. Shift by many to lightweight stuff + Covid effect on gigging = bargain prices for some I guess.
  2. My problem is the money is needed! Current situation means trimming down my amount of gear is inevitable really, just a bu*ger that it also means probably having to take a hit on the prices too.
  3. Me too, heard a couple of songs already and sound great. Apparently there’s a documentary just out about the recording of it, but only available on Apple something or other. ☹️
  4. That Marshall 1974 2x10 combo should fetch more than the estimate, rare configuration / cabinet etc. Not sure about the sports bags full of sh*te though...😆
  5. Interesting thread, some great points. I’m in the process of starting to trim down my stuff and have the dilemma of whether to try and sell at the moment, when there are few gigs around to use any amps let alone larger stuff! I’ve got a Fender TB1200 amp head and Fender 610 Pro cab to move on, both in mint condition too. Serious kit but reckon they won’t fetch anything like what they should be worth, but I guess that’s just the state of play at the moment. ☹️
  6. It's the end of the world as we know it - REM
  7. I love a 'quality' bass too, but I sometimes wonder with all the great stuff there is available now for reasonable prices how many of us actually notice / need that bit extra for most of our playing? I always used to use USA basses - Precisions and Stingrays for decades, but when I had to go for something lightweight I realised that other stuff was virtually as good in quality for significantly less money - MIJ / MIK etc. Country of manufacture mattered very little as the standard of instruments was improving constantly. Now older and (maybe wiser?!!) I have reached the 'age of enlightenmen't where I judge stuff by what it is above anything else, and don't bother if it's not the 'right' brand / model or even colour!
  8. It takes two - Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston
  9. I like them when they’re great basses that happen to be cheap! Of course, cheap is also a relative term though, so opinions will vary a lot depending on people’s wallets.
  10. She came in through the bathroom window - Beatles
  11. Nice things but overkill if it’s purely for home rehearsal IMO. Try one of the Fender Rumble combos, the 25 watt would probably be ideal for you. Great sound, not expensive, lighter than a light thing etc. Generally I’ve gone for small combos for practice use and separate head and cab for stage. Purely on grounds of ease of use, functionality and adaptability. Doesn’t make sense to me lugging heavy combos around when you can split the load by having separates. I know some of the more recent lightweight combos have challenged this, but for me it’s just as easy to carry a class d amp head and a lightweight cab . (I currently use a GKMB800 and a Barefaced Compact.)
  12. The way you look tonight - Ella / Sinatra etc
  13. Dancing in the moonlight - King Harvest / Toploader
  14. Sorry, bit of a daft connection for this topic. So - My grandfathers’s clock - Johnny Cash (and many others)
  15. Walk on the wild side - Lou Reed (association is Herbie Flowers)
  16. Saw Hawkwind last November at Guildford. A friend of mine was doing the sound for them so I got to meet some of the band and crew on their tour bus before the gig. All lovely guys, very friendly and funny. They brought on special guest Eric Clapton for half a dozen songs towards the end of the gig, EC and Dave Brock being old friends from long ago. I watched most of the gig in the wings behind the monitor guy, and managed a brief chat with EC. A really enjoyable evening. (Oh yeah, I sold the bass player my old Trace AH500 head too!) 😊
