4.
Hi everyone, I've been asked to sell my friends bass rig for him (as he now lives in NY), but i honestly don't really know what it's worth. It's a carpet covered original Trace Elliott AH400SMX head and a newer vinyl covered 8x10 cab. Any ideas what i should be asking for the rig ? Looks to me from posts on here that the head is probably worth about £400, i'm guessing the cab could be between £200-300. Another friend of mine is already interested but i don't want to rip off either of my mates !!!
How ya, I bought a AH400smx the same as you mentioned on here about 8 months ago for £300 ...... wouldnt have an idea on that cab tho ? hope this helps a bit Cheers
5. Dave.... No problem at all....... the Stingray is up for sale on the net with a couple of other goodies so if I raise funds in time I'll be back to ya ;-) Regards Al.
6. mmm....... I thought 5 string clear out part 2 was nice ! ....... this is every bit as nice ..... Same offer applies if interested Regards Al.
7. Hi Markbass555.......I would be seriously interested in this bass.......do you ever travel south ??? I Know you said cash only but I'll try anyway !!! I Have a mint Stingray 4 in Honey Burst,Rosewood Board,Hipshot D Tuner, 3 band eq........ Its currently up for sale ,I have a Stingray 5 but I prefer a Jazz bass. Let me know either way.........Cracking Bass Al
8. Welcome.......I was in Newquay a couple of times mid late 90's......I saw 2 bands that spring to mind, Rootjoose was one and the other was a solo guy with backing tracks , Al Hodge sadly passed away I understand ....some sound for a one man band !!
9.
I'd love one of those 1524s... but I'm looking for another 1153, with Tolex covering. But I didn't think I'd love the 1048... it's ok to be wrong, sometimes!
Yea the 1524 is a great cab......damm heavy tho ! but I wouldn't sell it (again !!!) Long story with that cab ..... but in short ...I owned it for about 13 or 14 years other amps and cabs came and went but this one just stayed...until I had a bit of a head rush after I bought the Mark 4x10 and sold it It had been gone from me for about 18 months and a couple of weeks back I managed to track it down and buy it back for 200euro.... IT'S NOT GOING AGAIN !!! The 10's kinda suit what I'm playing at the moment so the Mark will stay until I find a nice 1048, I could have had one off a fellow BC member the other week along with a ah400smx head .....just to expensive to post a cab tho .... one day we'll get one !!...........Yellow kinda clashes with Green !!
10. Hi .... finally got round to putting up a couple of pics.......I know I know ....!!! whats with the Markbass 4x10 99 % of the time my rig looks like this But I've just bought back an old friend 1524 mmm......a nice 1048 would be nice !!
11. OOOOOO !!! Nice Looks in great condition too, I must post a couple of pics of my 2 'Green Machines'... Oh Sorry 3 !! now following last weekends purchase from a fellow BassChat'r AH400smx Interestingly enough you seem to set a simular shape on the graphic to myself .... what bass are you using most of the time ?
12. Did ya see this..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-GP11-Pr...5#ht_500wt_1156
13. This is a super rare piece of Trace kit....These date to about 1979 and from what I know we're only offered as a prototype and it was later in 1979 that Trace GP11 Mk1 pre amp appeared ...... and thats we're our obsessions all began !!
14. Just to echo a couple of other comments made here.....I do think its a good idea when you move to a 5 to just stick with it...leave the 4 at home, that way you have no coice but to play it and get used to it....and you will ! That said I'm gonna practice what I preach !!! At the moment I take the stingray 4 to gigs for the litlle bit of slapping that I do (very average slapping I have to say !) But last night we just went straight into a song which has a bit of "slappa da bass" in and I had the 5 on....and to my surprise .. not too bad just have to concentrate on not catching the 'B' when thumping open 'E' So there ...... It can be done , like everything tis just practice On the subject of my Stingray 5 ...... I'm currently here now cleaning it ....as in last nights gig some 'drunken ****' leaned in to ask me something and promptly tipped his voddy red bull over my hand and the bass !!!!
15. Hi Monz, Would you have a price in mind for just the head ? PM Sent Regards tippbass
16. Nice Bass .....I owned one of these about 12 years ago....I still think today it was the Nicest,Fastest,Easiest & Coolest looking basses I've had the pleasure of owning....... So what happened !! I was seriously strapped for cash and put the Jazz and a few other bits of gear up for sale and the Jazz went within a couple of days Only about 3 years ago did I find out that the one I had, which was see through White with Gold Hardware was actually a limited edition 'Mary Kaye' model .......How I'd love that one back....It went down to the South Coast....Gosport ??? Southsea ??? somewhere like that. I just hope who has it is enjoying it ! How could they not enjoy it ,Just wish I'd taken a picture of it even,to this day I've never seen another one !
17. Hi all..... Just for your information the string spacing at the bridge is 19mm and the nut width is 47mm ..... As regards a price..... I was lookin them up on the net a while back to try and get an idea, there isn't too many of the 5 strings out there but I did find one in the States for $479 + shipping .....I guess thats somewhere in the region of £300 .... So I'll say £300 and we'll go from there , as regards the postage , When I know where its going I'll package the bass up in the case and wrap it up and then I'll take to post office and get it weighed ,and whatever it costs me is what it will cost the buyer Any questions , just ask away Cheers
18. Hi .... Just putting out a feeler here , I have a Yamaha Attitude Std 5 which I'm putting up for Sale or Trade,I'm based in Ireland so trades might not be that easy ! but hey theres alot of bass players in Ireland and gigs take me all around the country so you never know. Bass itself is in great condition ,plays perfect & no issues. The reason I'm selling it is I have a Stingray 5 which is my main bass and a couple of other 5 stringers and this one is kind of surplus to requirements these days, I have hard case which I'll include in the sale ,not the best case but does exactly what its suppose to and would be perfect for shipping,If anyone is interested in the bass I'm kinda open to offers or a trade .....fretless or early Trace Elliot gear would interest me If your interested ......let me know Cheers
19. I'm currently running a Trace Elliot AH500 Head through a Markbass 104HF 4ohm cab.......I've always liked and used Trace gear but a couple of years ago now I bought 104HF cab, basically sold on it by the fact that it weighs next to nothing ! but lately I've become a bit unhappy with the overall sound,we have a guy that helps out with the sound for the band and he basically cut all the lows below 120hz focusing totally on the low mids and highs,he says that now the sound really cuts through the mix and you can hear all the notes and now the bass isn't clashing with the Kick and the the other 2 lads at the front of stage agree......but the drummer and myself are not so sure,I use a Stingray HH5 and now to me I've lost the Stingray and Trace tone. I understand what there saying it probably does cut through the mix but I feel the bass and rig isn't sounding as it should .......mmm I think it sounds CRAP ! As I say I understand the eq setting ....would a 1x15 + 4x10 set up give a bit more 'balls' to the sound and still cut through ??? I've always felt I got a reasonably good live sound but I'd just welcome any advice or experiences you may have had ....... Cheers
20. As a 5 Stringer of a good few years now I can only recommend it !!! I'd echo all the comments above ...... what I find the 5 does it enables you to be a bit more economical with your playing i.e less left hand up and down the neck....but play a 4 every while to keep yourself sharp !! and as it has been mentioned above ..... Slapping a 5 ???? ....NAA....thats for the 4 strings...I know there are people who can but I cant,I'd be an average slapper but the B string just gets in the way ! Best 5 string for the Job in my opinion ..... my current squeeze the Musicman Stingray 5....virtually plays itself
21.
When I woke up this morning I had absolutely no plans whatsoever to buy a bass..... 10 hours later now & I'm the proud owner of this: Double first for me - my first 5 string bass & my first Musicman. It looks like Candy Apple Red in the photo but it's actually a lot darker, sort of a metallic burgundy. Lovely bass, and after 2 years of playing nothing but my Zons it feels very....woody.
I have the HH version of this , same colour, maple neck ...... I'll post it up tomorrow ;-)
22. mmm.......thanks for that Hamster,I think this Lakland definately deserves a look Various Pubs in Surrey you say ? ....... originally from Surrey Myself ! Cheers
23. Well lads.......Thanks so far for your reply's, I also have my eye on a custom shop Jazz 5 ?? but its nearly 3 times the price of the lakland and as my Stingray HH5 already set me back a nice few bob the thoughts of shelling out simular dosh !!!!.............. and one of em will spend alot of time on the stand ! I love fenders too but just cant help but think theres alot of the big custom shop price tag in the " Custom Shop " badge on the headstock ! I think I'm leaning towards the Lakland Thanks for the replies , any more ....keep em coming
