1. Hmmm. The seller comes from somewhere called Flushing. Seems that someone needs to pull the chain a bit harder...
 2.
did they ever make classical guitars?
Yes. They still do.
 3.
Do any Fender's not have the fender logo on the headstock?
A genuine, unadulterated Fender will always have a logo on the headstock. That doesn't necessarily mean that having a Fender logo means the item is genuine as the logo can be faked or possibly a genuine neck on a non Fender body.
 4.
ok, thanks. That sounds good thinking. There is no response from the horn or speaker but maybe the problem is before the reproductive chain of speaker/horn so jack, x-over or fuse if the device has such a thing.
Yeah. If it was a blown speaker then I'd expect the horn to have carried on working. The fact that the horn is dead as well is good news - it's most likely going to be a wire off on the jack/speakon -> xover area. Can't find any mention of the Aguillar cabs using fuses, but keep an eye out for one if you decide to go delving...
 5. If you've lost the HF output as well as the main driver then that could be a knackered x-over perhaps?
 6.
I recently got hold of an SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB-310 and I have to say I am getting quite fond if it. I notice that the Ibanez SR500 has a lot of fans here - superficially it seems to do much the same kind of thing. Also the Yamaha RBX374 seems similar. All are MIJ, lightweight, skinny neck, double pick up and active. Pretty well the same shape, too. Are they all much the same? Or does one stand out in terms of build quality or in any particular department. Or are there similar but better models to be had? (I know of the SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB-320, for example) Do any hold their value better than the others? I know the Bass Collection stuff doesn't seem to and hence are bargains!
Haven't tried an SB-310 but I own an Ibanez SR505 and have had a play about on an RBX owned by a mate of mine. Tonally they're pretty much the same but the difference I noticed pretty much straight away was that the neck on the RBX was somewhat wider than my 505. Not an unpleasant difference, just felt a little odd.
 7.
ah i see thats abit annoying what about like the other guys said about getting the transformer changed internally? what would that entail and cost? cheers for the help all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it's going to be a workshop job. Someone was looking at doing the exact same thing on a Mesa recently and it was pretty close to about £200 IIRC.
 8.
maybe i should ahve looked at the pic, rather than trying to remember power factors from A-Level physics !!!!!
Humph. Physics, what's it ever done for us?
 9. You need something of at least 360W (it's written on the back panel of your amp ) The mains lead is fine but you might not actually need it if the transformer you choose has a bog standard UK socket on it.
 10.
Just cleared off 83MB, oops
83Mb ?!? Bl**dy hell Wayne, you need your own server!
 11.
hi guys, just bought this at a carboot sale saw swr and thought it must be worth getting ha, but didnt come with a power supply and it says 120 volts as u can see in the picture which i guess means its american but its a normal kettle lead slot. so just wondeirng if any of you know if i need to get a specific kettle lead or will i be ok with a normal 230v adapter? also does anyone know what these are worth? all help as always is much appreciated cheers
You can't run it directly off UK mains. You'll need a transformer to drop 230V down to 110V. Something like this would do the trick.

 13. Why has that bass got slugs on it?
 14.
I eventually took the plunge for a Ibanez SR500 which I saw on Gumtree for £250. As soon as I picked it up, I new the weight was perfect, but when I actually played it, I was completely bowled over by the playabilty, the feel, and the sounds that it produces is just amazing.
+1 I have an SR505 and, although weight wasn't a deciding factor in buying it, it weighs next to nothing and has one of the most comfortable neck profiles I've experienced.
 15.
Indeed. Even terabyte drives a dirt cheap nowadays.
Server disk space isn't the same as PC disk space. Last time I added a terabyte of disk space to an HP EVA (last year) it cost somewhere in the region of £9K.
 16. If I were in your situation I'd have no hesitation. If you are at the point of having to sign on to keep a roof over your head and food on the table then forget all the stuff about 'compromising by playing in a tribute band', you should look at this offer as a well timed liferaft and jump on. Good luck with it
 17.
I've bought a Fender Jazz 5, couldn't play it and sold it. 5 years later I bought a MM Stingray 5, couldn't play it and sold it. There's currently a Gibson Studio Thunderbird V on Ebay, Hmmmm!
Why not just cut out the middle man and stick a link to it straight in the BC 'For Sale' section..?
 18.
I think it could be the string spacing that throws me off. I've noticed that the only songs that I really struggle to play on a 5-er are ones with arpeggios, as my fingers kinda trip over each other, where they wouldn't on a 4. Just clumsy perhaps?
If you start playing the 5 with the expectation that you're going to screw up, then you probably will. It could be the string spacing causing your fingers to stumble, again though, it's just a case of 'practice makes perfect'.
 19.
Just wondering but does anyone here have trouble switching between 4, 5 and 6 strings?
Nope. I chop and change between instruments quite happily. It's just practice.
 20.
My problem is slightly different. They're hex screws, and the hex hole is worn so that there's not enough 'grip' for the allen key to turn anything. The hole is too small to put even a small flathead screwdriver, so I can't even remove the hex screws. The simplest solution is to replace the knobs, if I can find them.
Ah right. Don't suppose the little grub screws in the new knobs fit the holes in the original knobs by any stroke of luck? If you've got the knobs off then use the nearest size hex key and pull it at an angle to provide some leverage whilst undoing the knackered grub screw - that usually get's them out.
To make things worse: I couldn't remove the small knob on the mid-EQ pot, because the hex head is stripped that bad. I tried prising it off gently, and somehow that resulted in the centre-detent of the pot no longer working.
That pot might actually still work without the centre detent but I'd be inclined to change it as you don't really know what damage has happened inside the pot. Obviously, it's not dangerous but it could crackle and pop whilst using it which would be a pain.
 21.
I have a lovely Fender American Deluxe Jazz V. The screws in the knobs are stripped, so they don't hold the pots very well. I thought it would be really straightforward to get replacements, but long story short: no. That's because it uses the skirted concentric knobs for the EQ His and Lows. I have some replacements on order from the USA, but in the meantime I bought a set on eBay, the description of which said: "Fender Squier Jazz Bass 5 String Stacked GUITAR KNOBS." They don't fit. The non-concentric ones are too tight, and the concentric ones are too large. Am I right in thinking that Fender and Squier use different knobs, or have I been conned? Are all Fender pots the same sizes? - martin
Common sense would say that they use the same size knobs for everything so they don't have to worry about buying in different knobs from different manufacturers - but it sounds as though they might not have done that in this case. If the grub screws on the original knobs still have enough thread on them to stop the knobs just falling off (or just rotating freely) then I'd be tempted to put a little blob of clear nail varnish on the thread and just tighten to the point just prior to the thread stripping. When it dries it creates a seal and stops everything wobbling about. Getting the grub screw out again is no problem as the nail varnish will just snap when you turn the grub screw.
 22.
I'm using an Ashdown ABM 300w head and an SWR Basic 2-way 15" cab. Can I use the 12" speaker from a Warwick CL combo as an extension speaker, and if so, does it connect via the "out" jack from the SWR cab, or the speaker output jack next to the speakon that I'm already using on the amp? (In other words, using both speaker outputs from the back of the amp). I'll be using a Female to female jack adapter to attach the jack lead to the Warwick.
You can't hook a combo onto the speaker output of a power amp. At best you'll destroy your combo, at worst you'll destroy the combo and the ABM head.
 23.
In general I'd say give it a go! But... it's quite common to think when you first start that you can't get anything but a horrible noise out of a fretless. It's just a case of sticking with it and getting a feel for how to play and to get your ears used to things. After a while things will fall into place
+1 And don't worry too much about the lack of line markers. When I bought my first fretless I severely limited my choices by refusing to consider anything without line markers. I only used them for the first week or so.
 24.
Been playing 5 strings pretty much since I started bass (bar 6 months or so). So I feel at home on a 5 but definately find 4 strings less 'effort'. I had a 6 string for a while - that I could never nail, it was the high C that I couldn't deal with.
I personally think that getting used to that High C is harder than getting used to the Low B. It must have taken me a good six months to get used to that pesky C to a point where I knew I could use it accurately. To put that into perspective, I made the transition from 4 to 5 in the space of two days.
