No problem. 1) Click on your username at the top right corner of the page. 2) A little drop down box appears - click on 'My Profile'. 3) On the new page, click on the 'Edit my Profile' button in the top right hand corner. 4) A new page appears, click on the 'Change your photo' button. 5) A new panel appears - make sure you click on the 'Use a custom photo' option. 6) Click on 'Browse' and select the photo you want to use. 7) Click on 'Done'. That should do the trick.
Quite..and the reason for one finger is the consistancy of the stroke/pluck, IMO so 8ths are solid and really work soundwise.
True, but you can get that consistency if you practice.
Introducing a 3rd compounds the inconsistancy IMO and is only really useful for a few things so you wonder why so much effort to practice something of limted use for mainstream basslines.
I don't always work in mainstream music and anyway, I don't have a telly.

Daft question time - what 'ages' strings? Playing or time?
icastle replied to Paul S's topic in Accessories and Misc
Anyone remember Superwound Funkmasters? I found a set in a guitar case I'd not used in at least 15 years and put them on my Aria SB900 earlier this year. They sound the same way they used to some 20 years ago when they were last made... bleedin' awful. -

Atmospheric pollutants would eventually get to a set of strings, but IRL it's usage that kills them. -
HOHNER B2a XLR WIRING, XLR wiring diagram
icastle replied to mightyvoo's topic in Repairs and Technical
Ah. The lack of circuit diagrams for this particular bass has been a bit of an issue for a while now. Adding a choke to the XLR reduces RFI. My best guess is that the B2a hasn't got a proper balanced line out and the choke will be there to get round that potential issue. If it were me, I'd just bypass it as a starting point and just reconnect it if I get a lot of RFI. -
You Sir are a bloody genius! Job Done!
Thankyou. The cheque is in the post...
I have a straight on one end then a right angle on the other, that covers all the angles
+1 Most of mine have been built like that for the same reason.
-
Depends what instrument I'm playing at the time. Right angled on EUB and JB - it keeps the jack body out of the way. Straight on ESP and Ibanez as the jack socket is on the edge and a right angled jack doesn't sit properly. As for life expectancy, if you think about the mechanics of the plug construction and the cable stress, the straight plugs will be less prone to failure.

Try pressing [Ctrl] [F5] - that usually forces a refresh.

Is your new icon something to do with 'end of an era'? If so, it's been up for quite a few hours now.

It sometimes takes a little while for the picture to change - give it half an hour and check it again.
As Ian says, don't risk it. Pin this Ian?
Yep - was already doing it.
Are these transactions that have been made via basschat?
Unfortunately there have been a couple over the last few months.
Any member names we should be wary of ?
Nope. Anyone who does this has all of their ads removed and a permanent ban applied to their account.
Thanks too for fixing the link Ian, for some reason the YT links aren't displaying for me anymore.
No problem. Just paste the URL of the Youtube page into your post but you need to edit out the 's' in the https:// part. -
them Too late for that.. I didn't and don't want to drive everything so welcome others getting their hands dirty.. I just didn't see the 80's songs coming in such numbers... It is not so much the songs..altho one or two are marginal, IMO....it is more that they epitomise a very very dated sound.. There is a world of difference between 'The Voice' and Thompson Twins, for example...the latter of which will really make me VETO .. You can see where this is going.. I don't think the Thompson Twins are an issue..I am sure it is a wind-up..!! but both gtr and singer mentioned them.. I nearly spat the dummy there and then..
I guess the success (or otherwise) of it is really down to the predominant age group of your audience. It's certainly not my personal cup of tea, but 80's music was quite erm... 'distinctive' .

If you're the person arranging and driving this with a clear and workable vision of where this new project is going, then my advice would be to take control of it on day one. It's lovely to have a democratic band, but sometimes they need to be told what the right decision is.

Strat pup switches have always been a weak point. Being an open 'skeleton' you can sometimes gently bend the contacts but once they've gone it's easiest to just replace the switch.

First thing to do is change the battery.

Opinions on cryogenically treated valves / valve recommendations
icastle replied to SingleMalt's topic in Amps and Cabs
Cryogenically treated valves? I thought the idea behind using valves was to get an 'authentic yesteryear warmth' - I don't think the Rolling Stones shifted their fish fingers out of the way to achieve that.
