1. It really depends on the neck profile. If the EUB has a radiused fingerboard, then no problems - if it's flat then it's going to be really blimming hard at best. The NS and Eminence has a radiused fingerboard but I have a nagging idea that the Stagg doesn't, although I could be wrong.
 2. It's for a guitar, but it's Peavey and the colours match what you've got...
 3.
How many jobbing bands have qualified electricians setting up their gear for them? How many people would understand what precautions to take when using sockets labelled '400V'? How many people would just plug in anyway and hope?
It's a bit of a moot point really. It is unusual to find adjacent feeds from a three phase distribution board in venues that most of us perform in. They're generally only adjacent if there is a specific need for them to be so, and the areas where that would be the case are generally not areas you'd be performing in.
 4. I don't much like using them. If I get peaks and troughs when I'm playing it's because I want them there.
 5.
I can understand a large venue requiring sockets fed from different phases, but I'd be a bit surprised if different phase sockets were mixed very closely together. Better to confine different phases to different areas whenever possible.
It really depends on what you're trying to achieve, having different phase supplies near each other can be advantageous if used sensibly.
 6. On a related safety note, I've had some real nasties over the years so before we plug anything in we use a mains tester plug to ensure the socket is both earthed and wired correctly. All of our extension leads are fitted with RCD plugs before they get anywhere near a gig. Suspect leads are marked with red tape and not used again until I've both electrically and visually checked them, and I'll always make them unusable and bin them rather than rely on 'it's near enough'.
 7.
It could be the label is indicating that there is 400v between the sockets as they are on different phases.
Yep, that's the one. It'd help if the labels were a little clearer about what they were trying to convey, but the most instructive 'off the shelf' one that I found when I needed some was just 'Danger 400v'.
 8. The sockets are coming off of a three phase distribution board. The electrician has labelled the sockets as 400v because there is a 400v potential there, not because there's 400v coming out of the socket. . If there was 400v being delivered then you'd be asking 'can anyone lend me a PA for tonight?'. EDIT: Not a 100% accurate way of judging things, but if the installer has gone to the trouble of labelling the sockets (as per regs if you follow them to the nth degree) then there's a good chance that it wasn't a DIY job.
 9. Glad it got sorted out.
 10.
Dead easy programmatically. See if there's a £ sign, see if anything that follows it can be parsed into a sensible number.
That'll work until some wag says something like "I'll give you £5 for it 'lol' " Programmes don't have a sense of humour.

 12.
While on the subject of Paypal it's worth remembering the protection you have as a buyer. I payed for something as a 'gift' (not connected with ebay) and never received the goods. I trusted the person so sent the money as a gift therefore i have no chance of having that payment refunded. Totally my fault but it has taught me a valuable lesson in that i will never pay for goods that way again. Even if it's here on Basschat and the seller insists on a 'gift' payment. In that case it will be a definite 'no sale'. Once bitten as they say.
Good advice. The PayPal 'Gift' payment was never intended for sales transactions. If someone insists on 'gift' as the sole method of payment then walk away from the deal - there's a high chance are that you're going to lose both your money and the item.
 13. It's the only effect I use and it stays on permanently. I have it set just enough so it's not noticeable unless you switch it off. It just fattens the sound out a little.
 14. Rather late, but updated.
 15. Blimey! It might be easier to rename this forum icastle and have done with it.
 16.
I'm more than pleased with the site, and I paid the £20 fee with no qualms, but maybe a price box at the front end/title would be good.
I'm not against the idea, but there's a bit of a limitation. Something might be advertised at £549 on day one and it's perfectly reasonable to expect to see that in the header. The catch is going to come some time later when the price is reduced to £499. There's no easy way we can capture that programmatically so it's going to need the advertiser to change it manually - which kinda brings us back to where we already are.
 17.
But it needs to be one that can be edited ..,
I think I know where you're coming from here. The uneditable price field we use is a trade off needed to allow the 'free advert under £50' model. We can't edit it either. If it was editable then someone could simply value a bass at £5, get their free advert up and then edit the price up to £500 to hide what they'd done. Trying this sort of thing wouldn't occur to most of us, but we regularly identify people thinking they're smart enough to 'beat the system' in various ways and that annoying little uneditable price tag plays a big part in stopping that.
 18.
I have been thinking maybe it should be mandatory to pay the £20 selling fee to join the forum and use the market place( I myself have no problem with the fees keeps things ticking along) I used to use another forum that did this and it got rid of a ton of timewasters etc and you even got a membership card and a T shirt and keyring would this work on BC? I dunno maybe some one has has more of an insight on how the forum works will know...where's that bloody Icastle when you need him lol
Standing right behind you... IMO, and this isn't an 'official statement', it's a bit of a balancing act. BC only exists because people come here and, generally, like what they find. Some people become stalwarts, some people pop in and out and some people leave. If we were to charge a 'membership fee' for the entire site then there's a danger that we'll deter some of the 'new blood' from coming in and we risk stagnation.
 19.
Unfortunately these strings still won't make you play like James Jamerson.
Good. Who? Hasn't he got a bucket either?
 20.
The idea is to baffle you with science.
Massive overkill. I get baffled with days of the week.
 21.
They could be using the tried and tested static painting method:
I tried that once. All I got was earache and a splodge of magnolia emulsion on the wall.
 22.
*highly sophisticated bucket of stuff
Ah. Bucket of stuff = £2.00 Bucket of stuff with 'sophisticated' written on the side in magic marker = £20.00 Got it.
 23.
Their customer service is generally very good, and they are on here too, so you could always send a pm.
http://basschat.co.uk/user/11294-ashdown-engineering/
 24. Are they saying that they dunk it in a bucket off stuff and stick it in the oven to dry?
 25.
If you're selling a bass for £50, then £7 is a fair chunk of that.
If you're selling a bass for £50, then you're not charged anything for the advert.
