1.
How was the gig though?
I thought it was OK, but I heard they demolished the pub a year later...
2. I got a phone call to dep for a band many years ago and they told me the venue was Crystal Palace. Got really excited until it transpired that by 'Crystal Palace' they actually meant the Crystal Palace pub in St. Albans...
3.
Thats pathetic... I got twice as many.
Yeah, but the only one you actually knew was the beardy bloke as well.
4. 1/10. Fortunately, I recognised the ZZ Top beard.
5. Having worked in sales environments in my earlier youth (as opposed to my current latter youth ) tyre kickers are part of the sales cycle, always have been and always will be.
6. I've had a deep and unsatisfied desire for these for months now... I've looked high and low, but not been able to find TwigFest.
7.
Please excuse poxy spellchecker
Were they playing as well?
8. The other thing of course is that you might be setting the action too low if you have a tendency to 'dig in' whilst playing.
9. The one in the middle for me (George Cook?). He kept it simple and just seemed to lock in with the bassist a little tighter than his companions.
10.
At a guess, about 30.
And three of those have a limp.
11. It's whatever sounds right and puts the notes in a convenient place to play them.
12.
Well I do that, of course, Sweetie... as for the bass guitar issues, iCastle types all that in, while I nibble his toes... hee, hee, hee!
That's not my toe..woh...woh..WOH...OW !!!
13. Well they probably are limited edition. Levi's would probably usually throw any bleach damaged jeans in the dustbin...
14.
I don't really count, though, as I'm simply waiting patiently for Drumchat.co.uk to kick in.
I'm not going to say it...
15. You forgot the 6387 who were actually looking for AssChat.
16.
Whole new argument right there. To me the song selections say more about the punters than the band. I played in a band that did brilliant covers of some really different songs and despite a brilliant front man and some great players we were always faced with punters asking for the usual covers classics and venue owners who were reluctant to book us.
My covers band have a very simple way of deciding on material. We leave any pretence of 'artistic integrity' at the door and play the stuff people ask for and dance to. If that means 'Mustang Sally' and 'Johnny Be Good' then so be it, our diary is bulging all the way up to NYE and we're already taking bookings for 2015.
17.
I wouldn't really know though, because I hardly ever come on Basschat these days.
And on the odd occasions you do come on here, you're so shy and retiring that nobody would notice...
18. I've known some PCs to be inherently noisy. Does the noise go away when you switch the PC off?
19. I'd say that's pretty much the norm as far as recording is concerned - multilayered bass is just overkill. I'll sometimes be asked to add some extra tracks with a different instrument (usually something obscure that nobody else plays), but generally only get involved again at the mixing stage.
20.
I'd say check out My God and Farm On A Freeway as well as the above.
Farm On A Freeway is superb. Crest Of A Knave was just one of those rare breed of albums that doesn't have a single 'can't be arsed to listen to this one' track on it.
21. Yep. I stopped working after the last software update and wasn't particularly reliable prior to that. It's a known fault and on our list of 'things to do'.
22. Worry not. Our mains voltage is 220V ± 10% @ 50Hz. So your amp will happily accept anything from 198V to 242V. There's a complete list of local voltages here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country#Table_of_mains_voltages_and_frequencies. Just look up the country, make sure the voltage is within the range above and it's delivered at 50Hz.
23.
Bursting Out with John Glascock on bass; marvellous.
Heavy Horses is probably my fave with John Glascock - an absolutely bizarre video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTVYY-P0o3I
24. I kept bumping into Clive Bunker and Mick Abrahams many years ago but never actually listened to anything they were working on back then. About 15 years ago I realised (yeah, it takes me a while sometimes...) that if the likes of Gerry Conway, Dave Mattacks, Dave Pegg and Maart Allcock had all been involved in Jethro Tull then I was missing out on something. Been a fan ever since.
