  1. I have done that on occassion. Think it made a slight difference. I'll try it tonight at my punk gig. I occasionally use Voltarol on y fingertips when not gigging much. I started using it because my fretting hand index finger had a sensitive nerve end and it helped reduce the stabbing pain. I noticed it also helped reducce the pain on my plucking fingers too. Not used it for a while as my fingers are starting to harden up again now that gigs are more frequent plus we have a new guitarist and i'm playing just as hard at rehearsals to try and help. Its trying to get the right balance between volume and aggressive tone. Sometimes it just all works, other times not so much. 😂 Dave
  2. I like the aggression from playing hard fingerstyle and almost every gig my index and mid finger and occassionally ring fingers are tender. Not getting blisters now that i'm gigging more again. No easy fix as far as i know. The more you play the tougher the fingertips get. I like the ice bath idea when i get home tonight i might try that. To be fair my fingers are back to normal following day now. Dave
  3. Curious what bass you are using there @jimmyb625. ? Dave
  4. Not at all, i'm still finding this thread interesting. Dave
  5. For me a visual indication of where my amp is running as a percentage can be helpful. Depending on what band i'm playing with i find the volume can creep up without you truly realising it. A quick visual would let me know if i'm pushing my master volume too much and my amp is close to its max limit. Dave
  6. Understand what you mean. I was hoping for a simple jack % Jill explanation but its far more complex than i ever imagined. I reckon designers and manufacturers are waging a "Dark Strategy" to confuse the masses................its working Seriously there's far more to it than i ever imagined. All credit to the companies that are doing it right...............i just dont know who they are ? Dave
  7. This is clarifying something that's troubled me over many years. Once again i find @agedhorse coming forward with valuable insights into this complex issue and simplifying as much as possible for non-techs. Its nice to know how designers think about this subject. This might explain why Mesa amps are solid bits of kit 👍 Cheers @agedhorse Dave
  8. I guess if it wasn't for @Merton making the suggestion in first place then maybe Stoneham wouldn't have picked this one up at all. If the designer picks up on a suggestion he thinks is worthwhile i'm sure he'll install it in the new amp. I like the idea of a company making the amp that bassists are asking for altho it does become a wish list more than anything else. I guess we like to dream a little. Dave
  9. Tuner out would be nice to have. With daisy chained cabs my understanding is that if one cab fails it wont affect the other cab as they are basically in parallel at the back of the speakon on the cab which i believe is the same with the twin amp speakons. Only issue is that if the cable from the amp fails then you lose both cabs. Dave
  10. Not been to a Bass Bash for quite a few years now. Used to go to the Moffat Bass Bash organised by Alan at ACG and Chris from Overwater but not sure if that is still going. A NE bash wouldn't be too far away from me depending on what you class as NE of course. Dave
  11. Sounds interesting. Now i can relax Dave
  12. You cant leave us hanging ......... what you ordered ? Dave
  13. I've not heard of this Fender Tone Stack thing. What exactly is it. ? Dave
  14. Gain and Master volume for me. Everything else comes from my fingers Dave
  15. I just want a simple all valve amp with minimal controls. It has to be loud enough to compete against guitar amps in rock bands and has to maintain a clean tone to do it. If i want to add a bit of grunt then that's my choice thru the Gain. Dave
  16. Definately 100% on this as saves having to use a tech and keeps cost down. Dave
  17. The Marshall amps in the rehearsal studios can go up to 21. Cant remember the model of amp but it is a full valve amp, now that is loud. Dave
  18. I'm learning a lot on this thread so far and obviously @Reggaebass has explained it best Dave
  19. I'm curious how bass amp wattage is calculated. For years i've never understood how all-valve amp wattage is far lower than SS or even Class D. 100W valve appears to be as loud as a 600W Class D. Anyone offer anything ? Dave
  20. Yep i think i'm gonna hang in there for the HB. It cant be far away now. Of course i said that about the Mesa TT800 i ordered and that didn't end well for me. 😂 Dave
  21. Been looking at the YBA300 on BC but its 24" wide and my cabs are 19-20" so the overhang would be unsafe and look a bit daft to be honest. Where did you get your YBA200 ? I've had no response from Traynor at all. Dave Not really looking for overdriven sound but sometimes a little grunt to take the edge off is nice. Dave
  22. Sent Traynor an email to see if they supply anywhere in UK but after a week i've had no reply. The YBA 100 and 200 look nice. Some really nice features on them. Dave
