  1. Enjoy and have fun. Sounds like it could be a great night. Dave
  2. I think i'm already at that point after 4 yrs with the band 🤣 My problem is i like to learn a cover song as close to the original as possible and tend to write out the bass line note for note. Dave
  3. I hear good things about some of the HB basses. Certainly great value for money. Dave
  4. That could present a few problems later in the evening. Dave
  5. Paid rehearsal is how i view some gigs. Dave
  6. Still No Name is a good name for a band. 😂 Dave
  7. Nice bass, nice tone. What is it ? cant make out the headstock. Dave
  8. If i wasn't expecting my TT800 in the spring of this year i would have jumped at this. Very rare to see any of the Mesa SW gear for sale at the moment since they stopped shipping outside US. Grab a bargain while you can. GLWTS Dave
  9. One of the best sounding amps ever made IMHO. Superb depth of tone but still retaining clarity. I've got the 600 and its way too loud for the Glam and Punk rock bands i play with. Never had my master volume any higher than 11 o'clock with GAIN at 11-12 o'clock and that's playing some large club gigs without going thru FOH. This amp is more than enough for most bands. You can get some amazing tones from lovely low deep mellowness to some biting overdriven rock tones and everything in between. I only use the paraEQ to balance the tones for each venue if needed. Mostly in the off position. Superb build quality. You cant go wrong with a Mesa especially at that price. GLWTS Dave
  10. I've always been under the impression it was his finger nail but you never know. Dave
  11. Always nice when you see a pro bassist playing a song same as you do (Waterloo) Great tone from that bass. Dave
  12. Not sure if this was deliberate Rob but Geddy has a different bass in the pics for the last 4 Rush songs you've posted Yes i'm a saddo that notices these things Dave 😂
  13. Definitely !!! Who are these people and what an odd thing to set up. Still.....if everyone was happy then all good. Dave
  14. Sounds like you have it all in hand. I operate our smoke machines when used but lights are all on sound to light. Drummer owns all the lights but they have a sensitivity control on them for S to L use. Dave
  15. Exactly what i do. I have lots of notes to the point bands find humour in my love of notes but all in good humour. The other benefit from it is that i know exactly what the song structure is from my notes where others tend to have listened and learned their part but can't remember the structure especially after a break like covid or we reinstate a song we've dropped for a bit. Dave
  16. Plus a smoke machine to operate by looks of it. Can you not programme the main lights for a sound to light or even an auto fade in/out whether its slow or fast it can usually be set up thru programming. Just use the switching for special effects like your pin spots i see in one of the pics. Just trying to save you a lot of tap dancing thru the night 😂 Dave
  17. You guys must be first class to be playing those gigs. Some nice venues there. At some point i need to come along and see you guys. What bass rig were you using on the gigs . Dave
  18. In the Glam covers band i know most of the lyrics mainly because its the songs i grew up with in my early teens and bought the singles and also a few years before playing bass. I dont particularly focus on the lyrics but on occasion i use them sub-conciously as a reminder for changes in te song. In the punk band i vaguely remembered the songs from the radio but was never a punk fan so i have no idea what the lyrics are. I hear the vocal lines when i'm playing but only certain words or phrases trigger my brain that a change is coming. The singer could sing any words to the melody and i wouldn't know any better. I tend to learn songs mostly on the bass itself and write out every note. Dave
  19. You're gonna be just fine. Bet you love being back into it again. It just takes the right people. Keep us posted on your progress and if we can help just give us all a shout. The big BC family is always here. Dave
  20. Come Up and See Me is a brilliant song to learn and play. Nice choice. Dave
  21. Well done and i bet you thoroughly enjoyed it. When i get a full set to learn quickly i usually start by getting all the songs on youtube playlist or download to CD and play along with them to get a feel for them then start at the top and work my way thru them a few at a time. I like to write out the songs note for note as i find it helps me remember them on paper too. I will try to find music or tabs as a quick reference but mostly done by ear. Just pick the first 3 or 4 and work on them and once happy move to the next few. Sounds like you've found "your band" and that's always a good feeling. Have fun and enjoy. Dave
  22. One's enough for me LOL I wanted it for a classic punk covers band but i'm finding the Sandberg Marlowe is much better suited to it. I've had so many positive comments about the tone i'm getting. Clear, defined with just enough depth for a punk covers band. Bass was never overly prominent in most punk bands. Its quite a mid punch tone that suits better. Dave
  23. That's why i dont dep at short notice. I dont want to be put under that kind of pressure. I know a lot of guys on here know lots of the usual songs for their particular band style and can drop in at very short notice but i tend to forget songs once they are out the set list and if i need to play them again i need to refresh my old head. Its not age i've always been like that. Best example for me is Burn by Deep Purple. I absolutely love playing that song over the many years but could i play it today ......... NOPE, and i've played it so many times including a DP tribute band 😂 Dave
