Bit much to expect someone to know their set with just a days notice. Maybe they want to see how quickly you can pick things up from them. You know ...... how you work together as a band. It might be a lot more relaxed than you think if they only gave the set yesterday. Take it for what it is. A bit of a laugh with like minded people. Hope it goes ok and let us know how you got on. It didn't make sense to me either as it seemed to be the best seller of the 3 models. You'd think as a company Fender would produce the best seller rather than the others. That's Fender for you. Dave

There was a blonde version but it sold very quickly and no longer produced. I tried one in GG when they first appeared. Dave

Come to think of it i think the one i bought is the 50's re-issue that the Vintera took over from. I could be wrong with that tho. To be fair most people dont use P basses for fiddly work at the dusty end of the neck. Its usually a stalwart of precision deepness to hold a good solid backline. I know a guy with 3 of the Vintera P basses and he's had no issues at all. Maybe i'm just a bit fussy about my set ups. Fender recommended string height is 2.5mm and that's how you get them from factory according to their set up guide. Its a workhorse bass and if that's what you are looking for i'd highly recommend them. Dave

The only thing i have found with mine is that the neck is almost straight from nut to 12th fret then it has a slight bend which caused me a few headaches trying to set it up. The action was 3mm at 12th when i got it. The neck had a slight curve bordering on a bit too much to OK so decided to drop the string height first down to 2.5mm which is my normal starting point with any bass. What i got was choking at the 14th / 15th fret upwards on some strings. I then straightened the neck a bit but found fret buzz at the 4th / 5th frets. Checked neck again and went a bit too far so brought it back a slight touch. Where i am now is an almost straight neck but still that little bend at neck join but my string height is down to approx 2.25mm based on a visual against a string height gauge. Its not perfect but as i use it mainly for punk covers band it works ok for me. No fret buzz and no choking. I have considered taking in to a luthier to sort the issue but i foresee some major neck repairs and as the bass only cost £600 its probably not worth the trouble and expense. Dave

I did a butterscotch one with maple neck. Really happy with it even tho the neck is a fair bit wider than i prefer its still easy to play and has that lovely P tone. Got it from our very own @Thornybank. Its one of my fav basses for tone at the moment altho the new MarloweDK is taking over everything i do. Its just the perfect bass for me. Thanks for asking. What style of music are you looking for. I've just learned this and found it really good to play. Still to try in the band yet. There are a few TABS for this but both are quite wrong but you will get the feel for it from using both TABS. Or you can just learn by ear as i did. Dave

Nice wee afternoon gig with the Glam rock band at Prestonpans Legion. Sell out gig all 150 tickets sold. Quiet first set with only a few dancers but 2nd set we had the floor quite busy and for the last 2-3 songs it was feeling good to be back at it again. Had a few noise probs with bass amp again but this time a loudish hum that stopped when i muted the signal or unplugged the input cable so i'm guessing someone threw a mains lead over one of my instrument signal leads somewhere ?? The stage was quite busy with cabling for PA and powered speakers and cooling fans cause it gets hot under those wigs. Dave

Fantastic gig with the punk band at the Thistle Bike Rally in a Hotel literally 1.5miles from my house. Shame my car got blocked in on 3 sides in car park and i had to get the organisers to chase up the owners. Band was on top form tonight. Few minor mistakes ....... by everyone but not noticeable by audience. Dancers on the floor from the first song. Great PA and Sound Engineer who loved the tone i was getting from my Sandberg Marlowe and the Mesa bass rig. Another bass player came up to me at the end and said the bass sounded so sweet and every note was clear but deep. We also got offered another bike rally in May but we need to check the calendar and another possible gig in July from it. All in all its been a great night. I'm happy tonight. Next gig on Sunday afternoon with the Glam Rock band. Dave

Its worth sharing twice anyways. Brilliant band, saw them support Robert Plant and met Francis Dunnery in the lounge area after their set when he came over to our table and sat with us for quite a while chatting. Terrific guy and phenomenal player. Dave
