  1. I'm interested altho i prefer the more modern look of the Handbox WB-100 to the Ashdown or the 1200 amp shown above. For me the HB valve amp has already been up and running and shown to be more than loud enough as a gigging amp and i'd be wary of taking an unproven amp. By the time this project gets up and running i may already have my WB-100 that i've registered interest with Handbox. Also price will play a major part if comparing against the HB WB-100. Also my cabs are approx 19" wide too and dont want an overhang if i can help it. Will follow this post very closely. Dave
  2. No comment. I have my reputation to keep Dave
  3. I laughed anyways even with a spalling mistook it was still a wee laughable moment albiet at @Max Normal expense. Hope he saw the funny side too. Dave
  4. If its the same band i found they have a gig tonight in The Railway. What bit were you reading @EBS_freak i cant find it. Dave
  5. It wont come to much with that guys attitude. Making a successful gigging tribute band takes a lot of dedication and hard work and by sound of it he isn't really suited to that. Rehearsals are for fine tuning the songs and ironing out any little nuances a band has, not to teach a new guitarist / keys player how to play. That annoys the heck out of me when members waste time at rehearsals. I view rehearsals as work, head down bum up and i'm there to get things done with occasional coffee breaks during a 6hr session. Sorry to hear this particular band didn't work out for you but you've done it once, best get back into it right away and show those tw**s how its done. All the best with the next project where i'm sure you'll be happier. Dave
  6. What band was it ? No comment on the venue name or is that the band name. The Pink Torpedoes Dave
  7. Now that's a fantastic bass rig. Nice bass too. Dave
  8. I liked the flats on my Sandberg VM4 but guitarist wanted a more aggressive sound for the Sweet songs we did so that ruled them out. We have a new guitarist now so might go back to them. I could put them on my P bass tho see how it sounds. Dave
  9. I know Ashdown are producing a physically small all valve amp head but no idea what the price will be. The CTM 100 would be too wide for my Mesa cabs and cause an overhang. I'd prefer my amp to be same or less width than cabs otherwise the CTM might have been an option for me. Liking your tone tho. Dave
  10. Sounding good Dave. Is that just the amp i'm hearing. Lot of nice depth and clarity with some really nice bass playing there. Band sounds top class. Enjoyed that. Dave
  11. I know a few players that steep their playing fingers in vinegar which they tell me hardens the fingertips. No idea if its true and might even try that one too. Dave
  12. Exact same here. Last gig my index finger-nail broke lifting gear into venue so i had to trim it and the middle finger to keep the tone even. That's happened a few times now and i'm at the stage where i'm just gonna stick with short nails. Dave
  13. I get sore fingers / water blisters after almost every gig and i've tried playing lighter and its ok but songs dont have the same feel when i play like that. The audience have commented on it. They can feel the energy in the band (punk band). Think the big problem for me is i practice at home with a light touch so by the time i gig again usually every 2weeks my fingertips have gone soft again. I've started to practice harder at home to see if that maintains the hard skin on my fingertips for the next gig / rehearsal. It was ok when i was either gigging or rehearsing every week it never seemed to be a problem but that was pre-covid. Dave
  14. Def a nice colour. Cant say i've seen many of them. Also think it suits your image too. I know that's very shallow but that's just me. Bass has to look good and play well of course. Dave
  15. WOW that's pretty cool. Jack Bruce was one of my main influences back in late 70's. Dave
  16. Enjoyed that. Very nice indeed. Cant beat a little bit of funk. Dave
  17. Really liking your Ric there Cat. Dave
  18. Always keep a pair of fingerless gloves in your kit bag if you're in the habit of doing outside gigs ............... just in case. I keep a pair of very thin gloves in my bag but its more for protecting a nerve ending on my left hand index finger that occasionally plays up. For some odd reason a thin glove seems to help. Its like someone stabbing your finger with a needle. Dave
  19. Well done Rob. Its a fantastic library and very much appreciated. I've been learning some amazing bass parts from your site. Things i would never have dreamed of learning in the past. Many thanks Dave
  20. People got used to the quiet of covid and now expect music venues to be quiet at weekends. Dave
  21. All sorted now. Amazing bits of kit and i've seen quite a few being used. Think its a bit too complicated for me. GLWTS Dave
  22. If i could sing, play keys and / or bass pedals while playing some amazing bass then it would be Rush on the Farewell to Kings tour. Others would be with Kiss Alive II era. Genesis on the Seconds Out tour or Deep Purple on the California Jam gig. Dave
  23. Stick with it, i'm sure audiences will return once things settle down again. Dave
