  1. Def think the Pedulla has a superior sound and suits his style better. Sharper and clearer. The Sandberg sounds a bit muddier altho its a nice sounding bass and i'm a fan of Sandbergs. Dave
  2. I'm using Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm versions. Love the tone from them. Not overly bassy and everything comes across clear. Had Sennheisers before these (cant remember the model) thought they were good but they were a bit more bassy and not as clear as the DT770's Dave
  3. When i use my index finger as a pick i have a tendency to sound a bit like that. Possible i picked that up from watching Doug play good few yrs back. Amazing player and always entertaining to watch. I dont get that effect when i try using a pick just with my index finger as a pick. ??? Dave
  4. I never picked up on the Geddy thing till you mentioned it. Does sound quite like him. 😂 Dave
  5. Oddly enough i still have a cassette player but no cassettes. Decided to throw them out altho i did copy some of my better recordings onto CD's. The DeoxIT D5 will be here mid week so i might try it on some of the 2nd hand kit i've bought recently that has minor crackling when pots moved. Dave
  6. A 3 piece rock band i joined did that to me in middle of Crossroads and the singer/guitarist announced a bass solo and stopped playing. I had no choice but do something so i just played a few finger picking chords on Crossroads structure and strummed a few times and got a great round of applause at the end. Have to say that was my scariest moment ever playing in bands. Dave
  7. WOW that's a proper change of image. Prefer his Pedulla sound to be honest even tho i'm a Sandberg fan. Dave
  8. Saw some vids from 2019 and he still had a good head of heair and ponytail and still with his Pedulla so i'm guessing you were jesting us. 😂 Dave
  9. Good job you werent looking for a Pooh Bear. 😂
  10. The guy from the audience certainly took the P out of her. 😂
  11. I've been using a stuff called Dylek Electronic cleaner i got from work many many years ago. It freezes and then evaporates very quickly but it clears dirty pots really well. Its classed as an electronics cleaner but i wasn't aware of the grease element on the pots so that's news for me. I've had the can since the late 90's and its only just gone empty. I used to use it to clean cassette heads back in the old days. Spray onto a cotton bud and clean the heads. Worked a treat. I'm going to order some Deoxit D5 from Amazon as it seems to get most praise out of them all. Dave
  12. Is the Duff McKagan bass a passive one. I was sure he could switch the pickups in and out in some way. Agree we need to see some pics of your gear. Dave
  13. Dont think Inverness has ever had any.😂 Dave
  14. My Mesa Mpulse has a 2 knob Threshold and Ratio compressor and that works pretty well too. I dont use it all the time but when i do I use the recommended settings from the manual and it just limits my volume very slightly when digging in. Dave
  15. I did see a review on youtube that was more about differences between cheap (electro-harmonix), medium priced (Boss) and expensive (Cali76). The reviewer listed other compressors in similar price bracket that he also rated quite highly and the Aguilar was rated along with the Cali76 so i'm guessing it was pretty good. He didn't demonstrate each compressor as it was more about the difference between the price ranges. Dave
  16. I have the Punch Factory Opto-Compressor which does a good job. Simple to use with only 2 knobs for Drive and Level. It has a row of led's to show how much you are compressing. I've considered changing to something else like the EBS Comp and have read great things on TB about the Keeley comps but i'm looking for something simple to use and set up quickly. I play quite aggressively depending on style of music i'm playing and what i've found with non tube amps is that when i change tone on a P bass from 100% to 50% my volume drops a touch. Its enough to be noticeable in a guitar, bass and drums band so i set the compressor up to limit the high volume when really digging in with the tone full up on the bass. When i dial the tone back the comp does less work but still there. I guess its more a volume limiter than anything else. Dave
  17. Here he is from 2017 with his band at the Firefish Festival. Kinda nice and light.
  18. Not seen much of him recently but i was following him a few years back and was higely impressed by him. I put him up there with Allain Caron. Great at fingerstyle and his melodic slap is quite enviable. Dave
  19. Its a bit overkill for my needs but i've had since new back in the old days. I only use it for 3 sounds. 1. clean with slight compression with the ability to access delay, reverb, chorus and distortion at touch of a button 2, Ric thru an overdriven Ampeg into 2x15's with the same access as above. This setting gives me a tone of really pushing the 15's to their flapping limit. 3. envelope filter for use in Virginia Plain in the 70's Glam band. The rest is all for a bit of fun at home. Dave
  20. What is it ? I'm still using my old trusty Roland GT6B mfx unit. Dave
  21. I know there's another larger venue in Inverness called The Ironworks but have never been. Hate seeing good venues disappear. Dave
  22. Oooohhhh that was sneaky, but you gotta laugh 😂
  23. Our drummer sent that clip to me last night. Why she couldn't just take a short break and go to the loo. Disgusting. Some poor cleaning staff are gonna have to clean that up. Not acceptable in my book. And what about the idiot that got up on stage. How sick is he. Dave
  24. He's a giant. 😂 Looks like a crackig set up there. Dave
  25. You know that makes a lot of sense as anytime i've been at a wedding in Highlands everyone wants that traditional Scottish themed music to finish on. Was at mates wedding reception in the large hotel in Oban at the front overlooking the harbour. Was a great night. And have to say a very tasty breakfast in the morning. Out of curiosity why not learn some Ceilidh music just for that type of function and then you'll get paid twice. 😂 Dave
