At a later event while loading the car she looked like she might have been a bass player too as she was using fingerstyle. This sounds like i was watching them but there were others loading their cars too and they were literally in my headlights (not on full beam either) but this was a public walkway along the river and fully street lit. I have to admit i was a bit embarrassed but if anyone wants the pics or vids PM me. Dave

Wee punk gig with Emergency Exit in one of our fav venues in The Riverside in Dumfries. We were asked to play in the large conservatory area instead of in the bar area. There were noise complaints about bands in the venue and it went to court so its a delicate situation. Ann that runs it has unfortunately decided to retire and said by the time the court case comes round she'll be gone and doesn't care anymore about noise complaints. Fairly busy, not packed out but a good party feel and altho a lot of rather intoxicated people they were all generally well behaved. We have one more gig in this venue before the current owner leaves so reckon that will be the end of the bands because of the noise complaints. Shame as bands have been playing there for a lot of years and way before the complainers arrived. Embarrassing moment when bringing the car along the private road near the river to load up and as i pulled up at the bar there was a rather drunk couple "having fun". I reckon she played the trumpet in a band but hey ho that's life when young and drunk. An hrs drive home so that is always good plus my bag of M&M's for the drive to keep me focused Used the MarloweDK for the first half but decided to use the Godin the 2nd half and what a difference that Godin makes. Its such a deep warm tone with a nice edge when you need it. I do love playing the Marlowe TBH honest but like most Jazz basses i find they can get a bit lost in the mix. The Godin has the Precision depth with the J pick up at the bridge just giving it that little bit more clarity. Have to say when you flick it onto P pick up on its own it does sound like any decent P bass. I prefer the switch to the pan or twin volume set up. I never use the pan on a bass its always dead centre. Handbox WB-100 amp into my Mesa SW210/115 cabs with my Shure Wireless. The Handbox and Godin bass are a perfect match IMO. Dave

I've just bought one of the Hercules double stands and noticed that if the feet are out far enough it does topple quite easily when you take a bass off it. At least you were lucky and no damage. Phew ! right enough Dave

Liking them. Love the black one. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Any pics of you with the basses or even just some of your basses ? Dave

Not too shabby there Daryl. Someone liked you guys a lot with a $100 bill in there. Dave

Years ago in 80's i had a mate in a band that was sponsored by the owner of the local snooker hall and he bought the band a medium sized converted van probably what we would call a splitter van with seating and table up behind driver and storage area in the back. The band were good but they weren't well known or famous in any way and only played local gigs within a 50mile radius. I'm guessing your local band must have a sponsor of some kind too. Dave

Best place for you after the cheeky sarcasm you gave me Dave

They travel long distances in US so you never know. They probably have one of these i bet. The Maple Road van Dave
-
Or just give it to me cause you won't miss it after all this time Worth a try Dave

I paid a lot of money for my Mesa cabs and don't want to stick velcro on the sides. I think the Keeper will still work on my recessed hinged cab handles. The spring return on Mesa cab handles is pretty powerful and should be secure enough. Thinking of getting one just to try it. Dave
-
When you mention accommodation Daryl do you mean the venue "stage" area or do you mean you stayed overnight in accommodation in the area. ? Appreciate that distances in US are far greater than over here. Just curious as to how far from home you guys play and if you have a limit on how far you'll go for a gig. ? Dave

I've ordered a Hercules double guitar stand but think i'll give one of these a try as they would be great on tight stages. Just not sure how well it will fit onto my cab handles as they pull out and are a bit thinner than a recessed cab handle. Dave

Play along to the song to get a feel for how it goes. I'll then search for music or tabs if available as a guide. If tricky or difficult i'll use youtube clips. Start with the intro i'll quickly write it out note for note then move onto the next section usually a verse and so on. Once i've written it out i'll play it thru completely a few times and then using headphones i'll listen to it again checking against my notes to make sure its written out properly and then i'll neatly write out again on A4 sized paper. I write it out like that as i find listening to the song is one way of remembering it and writing it out sticks in my head as a back up memory if that makes sense. By the time i've done all this its fixed in my head. Dave

I'm not a guitarist but if i was it would be a Les Paul. Love the look and the tone is music to my ears. Dave

Yep posted them on here somewhere before but they were a fantastic band that should have been more famous. Dave

Glorious weather by looks of it. Dave

I use a Gramma pad so the basses would sit on the edges of it. I just realised after posting this that my cab handles have small diameter handles that fold out so the bass might not be properly secure so i've gone for a twin bass Hercules stand but i did think the MB Keepers might still work and would be handy on stages with restricted space. Might buy one just to try it. Dave
-
Anyone used the Markbass Bass Keepers to support their basses at gigs. ? Was thinking of putting a bass each side of my cabs rather than on floor stands to save space on stage. ? Dave
-
I had to google MIFLAW there. It was annoying the h*ck out of me. And when i found it i had a bit of a DOH !!!!!!! moment. Dave
-
I had no idea it was like that Daryl. Dave
-
That would annoy me. I wouldn't mind leaving a tip in a jar on the stage area but not shoved in my face on a regular basis. I guess if its in Nashville its the only money the band would get then that's probably a bit different but i'd hope the band would tell the audience it was tips only for them tonight. Even worse if i had paid to get in. Dave

Do you guys have a pro photographer following you as you always seem to get great pics from your shows. Another great pic. Dave

Emergency Exit at Tomintoull bike rally. Left the house at 2pm got there 6pm with a 15min stop at Costa coffee in Aviemore. The organisers of TMG Bike rally gave us 50% more than we originally asked to cover our fuel costs as well so all in all it turned out to be a worthwhile gig. Busy, plenty of dancing and full floor by the end of the night. Lots of people telling us good things at the end when i was packing up the car. Luckily my wife took a spell at the driving and that made a huge difference on the 3.5hr drive home thru mist, fog and heavy rain. Only good thing on way home was not a lot of traffic but weather kinda defeated that advantage so no real time gains made once we got past the average speed cameras on the A9. Used my Godin bass into Shure GLXD wireless and into Handbox WB-100 and Mesa SW210/115 cabs. No PA support but from what i was told it sounded good out front. Dave Just a wee update with some pro pics from this gig and thought i'd share some.
